La Casona de Tita Oaxaca

We were a family of three adults and stayed for three October nights in this lovely, stunning boutique hotel. It’s centrally located, just an easy downhill walk into the centre of Oaxaca.

There are only six rooms, all tastefully decorated by the distinguished and highly experienced owner Amelia, and set around a tranquil courtyard filled with plants. Breakfast is served each morning in this same peaceful space.

The rooms have very high ceilings and are furnished with a thoughtful mix of contemporary art and traditional pieces. The bathroom was modern and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only comfort I missed was a pair of slippers, as the floors were a bit rough & picks up dirt easily. ( not a major, as the rooms are cleaned daily)

The highlight of our stay was the in-house team and the exceptional service they provided. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help without hesitation. A special mention goes to Emanuel—resourceful, attentive, and an excellent communicator—and to Mari/Maricela for her passion, eagerness to help, and warm hospitality.

Beautiful small hotel with 6 rooms around a gorgeous central courtyard. Great location, walking distance to everything in central Oaxaca City but relatively quiet (very little traffic noise). Maricela and Manuel make you feel completely at home with recommendations and arranging tours and transportation. Maricela in particular was great at tailoring recommendations to our preferences.

The beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom is modern and well equipped, with good water pressure and very nice toiletries from a local company.

Lovely, delicious breakfast is included.

Stayed for 8 nights in May with my partner. This small boutique hotel was perfect. Large room with 18-20 foot ceilings, comfortable bed and bedding, good air conditioning for a hot May. The staff went out of their way to treat us like family. Mari, Gabriel, Diego, and Emanuel were the nicest and most effective hosts we’ve ever had. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful, with both Oaxacan and other options. The location is great, a five minute walk up the hill from the zocalo, allowing access to central venues, but far enough away from the noise of bars and restaurants at night. Highly recommended for a romantic, intimate stay in a gorgeous city.

This is a beautiful, small hotel with a staff that is beyond friendly, warm, helpful, professional, and kind. It was like being with family, in only the best way. We loved our room (#5), the lovely neighborhood, the fabulous breakfasts, the sound of the fountain in the quiet courtyard, and above all, the service. Maricela, Emanuel and Gabriel made us feel that we never wanted to leave. They are very sweet, very special human beings.

Before meeting up with a tour group, my wife and I stayed one night at this gem of a small hotel. Beautifully appointed and centrally located, this hotel is within easy walking distance of all the sights of Central Oaxaca city. Marisela is a wonderful and helpful host.

Having just spent eight nights at La Casona de Tita, I can only write a rave review. This boutique hotel is special! Six lovely rooms surround a charming courtyard. It is here where the sumptuous breakfasts are served. What really separates this hotel from others in the intimacy and quiet of the environment.and the complete attentiveness of the staff. By the time we left we felt like we were leaving close friends. The location is excellent.

La Casona de Tita is everything you would want in a boutique hotel. Six rooms surround a lovely patio. Breakfast (included) was spectacular. We stayed eight nights and by the end it all felt like family. The attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff was superb. Highlights recommended.

We had a wonderful four night stay at the Hotel Casona de Tita a week ago. The hotel is a lovely oasis from what has become a bustling city. The hotel is centrally located, and we were able to easily walk everywhere in this beautiful city and enjoyed fantastic food everywhere. Our room, number 5, was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The bathroom was also large with a good size shower and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed a plentiful, delicious breakfast every morning (thank you, Gabriel!), with many choices. A must is the Oaxacan hot chocolate! Mari, the manager, was the best! She was so helpful, and she and Manuel (also wonderful!) helped us make reservations at all our restaurants, and gave us advice on places to visit. We were sad to leave this special hotel, and hope to return sooner than later.

La Casona is a wonderful place to visit Oaxaca City. Very well located, wonderful inner courtyard, great breakfast and amazing staff. You feel like you know all the staff after 24 hours. They are friendly, will gladly make reservations and make your stay warm and welcoming. Find Marie, Gabriel or Manuel and you will be all set for a fabulous time in the city.

We visited Oaxaca to attend my friend's daughter's wedding and celebrate my birthday. This place was recommended to a friend who had stayed there during her visit. I wanted to spend time with her and her mother during the stay, so we booked it, and it was great! It was the best decision. It's a beautiful place with six rooms that open to a courtyard. The staff is fantastic and made our stay feel so homey. The breakfast which was included was delicious! We got to meet the owner, and she was great. Beautiful lady inside and out. It was such a fantastic experience that we plan to return, and I would love to stay here again.

The staff were wonderful, especially Mari, who was ultra helpful and super friendly. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, but even so, someone was always there, to open the door and bid us a good night. The view when you step out the front door is so so beautiful. Highly recommend.

And incredible experience with an excellent location not only to el Centro but to two trending areas, Xochimilco and Jalatlaco. All areas within a 10 min walking distance.
The staff is personable, charming and very attentive.
Breakfast was a delight to look forward to each morning on the open terrace. The food was delicious, well presented, and try the freshly squeezed Mandarin Orange juice.
We felt safe, comfortable and well taken care of in this small boutique colonial house. We will return on our next visit next year. Oaxaca is charming and historic!

What a home from home this was. Felt so safe and comfortable. Wonderful beds and spacious rooms. The staff are just wonderful.
Breakfast though limited in its choice is wonderfully cooked and delicious. Close to all major spots. Would absolutely stay again and again

Our stay at La Casona De Tita was incredible.
The hotel is located in the center of the city, within a short walking distance of amazing restaurants, museums, shopping and more. The traditional Spanish style courtyard was warm and inviting with a fountain. We had an amazing breakfast al fresco every morning.
The staff treated us like family, we loved spending time with them in the morning, chatting while we had amazing home cooked meals and coffee. They were very attentive to our needs and kept our nicely sized room clean and tidy. A experience. We hope to visit and stay at Hotel Casona De Tita again. PS - the food was incredible and the tomatillo salsa rivaled the best restaurants in Oaxaca!
