The hotel location is convenient, and the room booking process has always been smooth and normal. I personally, as well as my friend, have stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past and never faced any issues before this incident. Our previous experiences were always fine, which is why this situation was even more disappointing.
One night at around 11:30 PM, we planned to go out together. One of our friends, who was staying at the Ibis Hotel and is a heart patient, informed us that he needed to return to his room to take his medicine and would come back within 20 minutes. After he went to the hotel, he suddenly became unreachable and went offline. Considering his medical condition, we became genuinely worried about his health and safety. We immediately went to the hotel reception and politely requested the staff to confirm his well-being by calling his room.
Instead of assisting us, the receptionist behaved irresponsibly and unprofessionally. He provided false information, claiming that our friend had been inside the hotel since 10:00 PM, which was clearly untrue as he was with us outside until 11:30 PM. Despite being informed about a possible medical concern, the receptionist refused to call the guest’s room and responded rudely, showing no empathy or sense of responsibility.
The situation became even more disturbing due to the behavior of a staff member named Bea. She sent a direct WhatsApp message to our friend stating, “Some mad people came to our hotel asking about you. Do you need security?” This message was highly inappropriate, disrespectful, and misleading. It misrepresented us and escalated the situation unnecessarily.
More concerning is the fact that a hotel staff member was directly contacting a guest on personal WhatsApp, which raises serious questions about professional boundaries, data privacy, and staff conduct. Hotel employees should never engage guests through personal messaging platforms unless strictly required for official purposes and approved by hotel policy. This behavior felt intrusive and unprofessional.
Our concern was purely about health and safety. Our friend is a heart patient, and the staff ignored a simple request to call his room, showing a serious lack of care for guest welfare.
Everyone was so helpful and happy. Nothing was too much trouble. Bed comfortable, the room was big, the shower was good, and the coffee was supplied. Pool was clean.
There was traffic noise but after 23-00 it went quiet. The pool was cool but once in I didn't notice.

Bathroom was great. Beds were comfy. There's a safe so you can store important items. They provide complimentary drinks in the lobby.
Breakfast could have more options. Operation hours could be an hour longer.
There is elegance in simplicity, and kind staff make every task easier.

Stinky pillow and sheets feel itchy
As the 2nd Accor property in Medan I thought I would stay at my first IBIS for a couple of nights.
The welcome was warm and staff throughout were helpful and courteous.
My room was right at the end of the corridor, as I had politely requested and ensured a quiet stay.
The decor was modern and exactly as it looked on the website. There was everything you could wish for in terms of desk, comfy chair, tea and coffee etc. You are not paying for luxuries after all.
Wifi was responsive and reliable in both the room and common areas.
The only improvement I would make were the pillows were very, very soft and offered no support. I did have a very sore neck waking up!
Breakfast was fine but we didn’t return after our first visit; just not for us.
All in all it offered a clean and nicely appointed place to stay, at a great price.
