Ocean's Edge Resort

A beautiful oasis in the quiet island of Carabao. A hidden gem! We organised a private boat from Boracay to and from the island and were able to dock at the hotel beachfront making it even more special an experience. The room was wonderful, clean and with an incredible ocean view. We had the entire hotel to ourselves pretty much, with only a few other guests staying at the time, and were treated like VIPs. We opted for dinner at the hotel each night and lunch on our last day and were delighted by the quality of the Filipino style food cooked by Chef Melvin. The staff, Gloria and Ciarra, were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They organised massages for us and scooters to tour round the island ready for us at the hotel on our second day. This was a great way to see all the beaches and cathedral cove. The roads were really good to drive on. The hotel beach offered incredible snorkeling. Definitely recommend taking a few days to visit Carabao island and stay at this hotel if you can, for the ultimate in relaxation and an opportunity to explore an undiscovered island.

Nous avons eu la chance de séjourner 3-4 jours dans ce resort absolument magique, niché en pleine nature, sur la paisible île de Carabao. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été enveloppés par une atmosphère de calme total, de silence et de sérénité qui nous a immédiatement déconnectés du monde.

Le cadre est tout simplement splendide : une végétation luxuriante, une piscine splendide où il fait bon se détendre à toute heure, et une ambiance apaisante comme on en trouve rarement.

Le personnel mérite une mention spéciale — chaque membre de l’équipe est d’une gentillesse remarquable, toujours souriant, attentionné et prêt à aider avec le cœur. On se sent vraiment accueillis comme à la maison, mais avec le luxe et la tranquillité en plus.

La cuisine, quant à elle, est un vrai coup de cœur : des plats savoureux, préparés avec soin et amour, qui subliment les saveurs locales. Nous nous sommes régalés du matin au soir.

Ce séjour a été une parenthèse enchantée que nous ne sommes pas prêts d’oublier. Et si un jour nos pas nous ramènent à Carabao, nous reviendrons ici les yeux fermés.

Hotellrummet var väldigt fint och fräscht. Sista dagen vakna vi till en stor kackerlacka i badrummet vilket inte var så trevligt. Hotell resorten i sig var väldigt förfallen vilket var väldigt synd då det fanns mycket potential till att vara fint. Poolområdet och receptionen var väldigt fint och rent. Maten var under all kritik. Maten blir heller inte bättre på själva ön. Personalen som jobba där var väldigt trevliga och omhändertagande. När vi anlände till hotellet var vi de enda gästerna vilket var lite läskigt, dagen där på kom det någon mer gäst. Väldigt få gäster till ett så pass stort hotell vilket vi tyckte var konstigt.

I made the huge mistake to trust their official website and I discovered (too late) that:
1) the credit card was not just asked as guarantee. Rather, it was promptly charged for 100% of the amount (the website did not say that the room rate was intended as PREPAID but that the reservation could be cancelled without penalties up to some days before the expected check-in date).
2) When I cancelled the reservation (around 10th May 2024) it took about ONE WEEK to get the email from the hotel saying that the refund was processed and now, almost ONE MONTH AFTER THAT EMAIL I did not see any refund on my credit card yet.
I already wrote to the hotel various times to get the ARN CODE, that would allow MY bank to investigate what happened to the refund "officially" disposed around one month ago and the hotel did NOT provide it, so far.
Last email did not even get an (useless) answer.
As a potential customer, for the cancellation I have been simply IGNORED.
It is very sad to suffer such an unfair behaviour from a 4 star resort.
I would not repeat the mistake to trust their website and I am writing this review only to help others not to do my same mistake, if TripAdvisor permits.
If TripAdvisor does not permit, at least I tried to help others and I will not perform a new, useless, attempt.

It is all about expectations. I think we were a bit misled because the reviews said the place was 5-star. One member had great experiences of the resort's facilities pre pandemic. But three years post pandemic, the place looked rundown. There were no other guests when we checked in. Food choices were minimal. The pool was also under repair. But the positives of the place... the view of the sea and the sunset are memorable. The bed, pillows and even the thick comforter - made for excellent and restful sleep. I guess if I just wanted a place that offered a lot of nature views and was generally quiet and peaceful, I would give the resort 5 stars. But our group wanted to be able to at least swim in the beach and in the pool. But all things said, the rates were quite fair. My only complaint was the glass separating the toilet from the bedroom.

I stayed at this resort for 4 nights as honeymoon and had amazing experiences, the staffs were very friendly , good hospitality, and most of all outstanding ocean view from the hotel! We’ll definitely come back for the holiday!

Okay the rooms are great a nice poolnixe friendly staff but food and drinks are limited no wine etc and food could be much better and many items not available. Beach area could be tidter. I would go again for the location and rooms

We decided to try this place since it’s just an hour away from Boracay. We stayed here for only 2 nights to spend my bestie birthday. David, one of the owner is very kind and easy to talk to. He’s the one answering all my inquiries and giving instructions how to get there. He make sure that we get into the right port so we won’t missed our boat schedule. He even gave us a free room upgrade since we are celebrating our birthday months here. We stayed in their muni muni cliff villa. We love the ocean view and the spacious room for 3 of us. There are some minor problem we encountered like our backdoors in villa cannot be locked which I hope they get fixed. The bathroom is huge but it’s just hard to have your own privacy in a clear glass door with no cover. But it might work for those honeymooners. We really appreciate all efforts they did just to make my bestie birthday celebration a good one. The complimentary cake from the resort is really a Homemade with love. It’s so good and very thoughtful. The staff are so kind and respectful although some seems to be very shy to interact with the guests. Shout out to Ciara and Evian. They’re very attentive. We look forward to come back in this quite place. We hope someday it will be fully operational. They will have more choices to offer like some activity that you can do inside the resort, more food choices . I hope they will have their own F&B manager or someone that will run the operations very well. Who knows how to handle the whole resort business and also we hope they will also put more guards on duty during night time especially down at the cliff villas beach front. There should be atleast big spotlights there and some kind of alarm that you can just press if something went wrong it will make your guest feel more secured too during nighttime while sleeping. I understand the impact of pandemic brought to us and keeping up the maintenance of this huge luxury resort is such a big burden of the owners. I feel bad to see that the beauty of this resort is starting to disappear if they will not make any actions to save it.
But overall we love the ambiance, the people, the peaceful quite vacation we had at Ocean Edge Resort. Btw they have a dive shop inside the resort. I just didn’t had a chance to talk to the dive manger and make inquiries. But maybe next time I will do some diving here on my next visit.

I stayed at the resort for a few nights with a friend in February, and it was a wonderful relaxing end to our five-week trip on the Philippines. The owner, David, constantly stayed in touch with me to make our stay comfortable, gave us information about the ferry schedule and coordinated pickup from the pier. My friend went diving with the resort's dive center almost daily and had a great time with the instructors. The restaurant was also really good, able to accommodate special requests and with a decent variety of vegetarian dishes. The pool has a great view overlooking the ocean. We stayed in one of the big cliffside villas and they were stunning. Cleaning everyday, streaming service available on the flat screen TV, WiFi available all through the resort. We had a few short power outages but that is to be expected in this country :) Staff was wonderful and even prepared a small flower bouquet for valentine's day!
All in all, would love to come back someday!

Carabao Island, called Hambil locally, is an amazing alternative to Boracay if you want to avoid heavy tourist traffic.

We stayed at Oceans Edge Resort and the experience was beyond wonderful. You get a breathtaking view of the ocean from their restaurant, the infinity pool and your room, where sunsets are best paired with your beer! The staff are always all- smiles and are always attentive to our needs. The vibe of the resort is warm and homey. The best part is it’s not as saturated with tourists as other resorts.

The resort opened in 2019 just before the pandemic restrictions hit and they had to close down. They have been slowly accepting bookings since late 2022 which we are all happy to learn, as we know this resort will have more things to offer once it’s operations go into full swing again. I hope you guys consider Oceans Edge Resort in your next trip!

This is a lovely hotel with fantastic accommodation from the outset the welcome was lovely by the owner and I was quickly shown to my room which was lovely, comfortable and modern. Fully air conditioned and lovely large bathroom with wet room shower and facilities.
I ate breakfast lunch and dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel on a beautiful island.

Unfortunately very disappointing. Expect the view from the Mountain Villa room. The room itself is good, but have to be improved dramatically. Shower is terrible, no water pressure and it is quite disgusting as it is shower curtain.
Super difficult to arrive, no private transfers from Caticlan or Boracay. Public boat available only, plus tips we had pay for luggages helpers. It says 1h from Caticlan but it takes at least 1h20min, and the sea is super rough. If rains, there was not much do to. Restaurant, breakfast is really very low level. No food options nor drinks. No beach sun-beds or service is provided. Staff is lovely but not trained or prepare for tourism.

I stayed here from Dec 26th 2021 to January 6th 2022. I was lucky (or not) that i am the only guest they actually catered during my stay. There were a couple of families who visited the place but they only were there for day use of the pool.

The whole place is huge and there's so much to explore. The rooms (villas & cabanas) are gorgeous and cozy. The staff (especially Jisrelle in the reception) are nice and their housekeeping team are all very accommodating to requests.

If there's a disadvantage that i was their only guest was that they have limited menu, and PAG-ASA declared a no-sail gale warning from Dec 30 to Jan 5 so the island didn't have much fresh supplies for the NY. Aside from that, there was a recent typhoon which affected their wifi/internet in the resort & the island so it's hard to have a stable connection & wasn't possible to work from there.

The resort is in a beautiful location, overlooking the sea. The island is quiet and peaceful, ensuring total relaxation. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. An authentic island experience!

Our family had the best time in this property. Coming from the pandemic, admittedly, there were some challenges e.g., private boat to bring us from Caticlan to Carabao Island, roadwork enroute the property, limited food choices, yet, the staff made it up to us with good service, warm smiles, and overall friendly and homely stay. We miss waking up to the sound of the ocean in front of our villa. It was a very quiet vacation indeed. We had some challenges too with the wifi given that we were working and studying during our first week. Yet, we were able to make it through the help of the property. Admittedly, as the resort is in a quiet island, there will be challenges with internet and phone signals. If you so decide to stay here, be prepared to rough it up, have a quiet time with family, rest, and enjoy the wonderful beaches of Carabao Island. I have nothing but good words for this Luxury resort yet humble and at reasonable price.

Place: The place itself is serene, surrounded with trees and big rock formations. Every spot is picture perfect no need for filter 👌 I love the birds flying around.

Amenities: All amenities are well maintained. Infinity pool is superb.🏊‍♂️

Food: Foods are freshly served from their farm and is prepared with love 🍲❤️

Rooms: Insanely huge and very relaxing with complete room FACILITIES.

Lastly,
Staff: Very accommodating and respectful. They will treat like a King or Queen. They will make sure that your stay will be memorable. Kudos to Bryan, Jisrelle and the rest of the team, could no longer remember their names.🤔

1st class facility and service, but food prices are the same as in the States, plus the private beach front is only good for scenery and sit by a picnic table and walk along the shore but that's it. NO swimming can be safely done with the rocks and coral growth. One needs to travel to another established beach elsewhere on the island.

Absolutely wonderful place for a peaceful relaxing time!!

We took a one day sightseeing tour from Boracay to Carabao, We were not planning to stay and ending stay 3 days in the island. What a great place!. We stay at the Ocean edge resort fabulous. Very quite village, great people, we were taking moto-taxis to ride around the island. Definitely we are going back. Unspoiled beaches, quite, very nice not much to do at night but if you are looking for a place to relax this is it.

I originally booked for 4 nights but was enjoying it so much I ended up staying for a couple of weeks.
The employees at this hotel are great, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food had a wide variety and is good quality, although more expensive than normally in the Philippines, however the management did give me a discount so it was fine. The rooms are excellent and very well fitted out, the private beach is great for snorkelling, although there are rocks so you will need reef shoes, and the pool is great but could do with a few more sun-lounges.
They provide a free shuttle each day to a beautiful white beach further around the island, it reminds me of what Boracay would have been like before all the development there. I really enjoyed my time there and will be going back again very soon. This is a 5 star resort with an affordable rate.
Overall an excellent and well run resort, like I said 4 nights turned into a couple of weeks!
