Special hotel in a very special little town
Pros:

We spent a week in late September in the gorgeous town of Pizzo and our experience at Piccolo Grand Hotel and discovering this wonderful and unspoilt village could not have been better. Having travelled Italy pretty extensively but never been to Calabria we weren't sure where to go but Piccolo Grand drew us to Pizzo. It's a very beautiful hotel and impeccably run with the most charming and efficient staff. Kala and Manisha provide wonderful breakfasts on the terrace, which has spectacular wrap round views, and Vincenza, Sandra, Eulani, Domenico and all the staff were so approachable, helpful and simply lovely people. We stayed in a Junior Suite (Dependence Mare) which was superbly comfortable, spacious and with 3 balconies (2 big enough to sit on) with beautiful views out to sea. We loved this hotel, loved Pizzo with it's fabulous restaurants, unbelievable tartufo and unique atmosphere. Looking forward to our return.

Pros:

Nice old Italian town worth a visit but be warned this is steep , any age / health issues use the tuk tuks , but negotiate the price if you think it’s a bit pricey.

Our stay at the Piccolo Grand Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in the charming old town of Pizzo, this boutique hotel perfectly blends modern comfort with authentic Italian character.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were warm, helpful, and always ready with great local recommendations — whether it was where to find the best tartufo gelato (hint: it’s nearby!) or the most scenic spots to watch the sunset.

The room was stylish, spotless, and thoughtfully designed with high-end touches — especially the rain shower and incredibly comfortable bed. We had a beautiful balcony with a small view of the sea.
Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a daily highlight. Fresh fruit, pastries, eggs and cappuccinos with a view of the Calabrian coast — it’s the kind of morning that makes you want to stay forever.

The location is perfect for exploring. Just a few steps from the main piazza, restaurants, cafes, and the historic castle, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private.

If you’re visiting southern Italy and want a boutique hotel that offers style, service, and soul — Piccolo Grand Hotel is the place. We can’t wait to return!

Paradise in Pizzo
Pros:

We loved our stay at the Piccolo Grand Hotel. The people were friendly and so helpful. The bright, cheerful coloring of the hotel puts a smile on your face. The location is perfect. The breakfast on the roof was the best. We didn't get a chance to use the beach club but will next time. We can't wait to stay at the Piccolo on our next visit to Italy.

Cons:

Ich durfte nicht auf das Zimmer meines Vaters, da anscheinend keine Besucher die nicht im Hotel gebucht haben die Zimmer betreten dürfen. Da mein Vater kein Italienisch kann und 79 Jahre alt ist dachte ich mir es sei kein Problem wenn ich ihm mit seinem Gepäck helfe. Daraufhin hat die einte Dame „Concierge“ am Empfang ziemlich überreagiert. Schade, hätte für den bezahlten Preis mehr erwartet.

The perfect place to spend some days in Pizzo - beautiful rooms - got an upgrade to the suite, just marvelous 🤗 the staff is super super friendly, they make you really feel at home! Super breakfast served on the roof terrace! Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will be back soon!

Staff were wonderful and so helpful. The apartment was so well thought out and a delight to spend time in as as was the roof top bar.

Cons:

The minibar did not seem to be keeping things cool but this was the only issue we had.
