Location & the clean furnishings
No garden area for the dogs
Location and breakfast were good. Staff helpful.
When I arrived i sent a message about where to park but then was advised no space and car park full.
After parking elsewhere I complained and said it was on the description Booking .com
They found me a space later in the afternoon.
Thanks because that was a main reason for choosing this hotel.
Lovely room with a balcony and sea view .
Excellent customer service at reception and in restaurant.
Rooms are not very big but very clean and bathroom modern.
Lovely sea view, clean and comfy room, friendly staff
Great location - close to the town & the beach . Staff were excellent & Razeem in particular. He was SO helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. From carrying bags to the car, finding me a fan for my room, being so kind when I wasn’t feeling well. Thank you Razeem
My room being at the top was very warm & initially no fan was available…until Razeem ‘borrowed’ the manager’s office fan. I think it should be mandatory for all rooms to have a fan
Location was superb and the staff were very helpful.
We were in a room at the rear of the building and the internet was not available there.
The location and the rooms
The breakfast was poor and if you are trying to leave Sidmouth on a Sunday staff could be more helpful. The man on reception went all out in his assistance but the hotel needs to be able to call taxis for people. Signal is very poor in Sidmouth and we felt stranded. Our breakfast order wasn’t sent to the kitchen and when it did arrive it was not very well cooked. It ultimately made us start our day very late and left us very restricted in terms of what bus we had to get back to Honiton. While the hotel was lovely with these factors considered it feels a bit steep in cost.
The location is excellent. I have stayed at the Kingswood a few times previously. The food, cleanliness and staff are very good. I had a single room which was very small, so be aware of this when booking.
The size of my single room. However the sea view and small balcony made up for it.
The location was right by the beach. The breakfast was great and the staff were all friendly
We had lunch on the seafront last Thursday which proved to be disappointing.
A Caesar salad historically includes a crisp green salad with romaine lettuce its dressing would normally be constructed with olive oil, lemon juice, egg yolk, Worcester sauce & anchovies.
My serving which included dry pre cooked chicken bore little resemblance to what might have been expected.
Flat lettuce accompanied by a meagre amount of anchovies and Parmesan.
A very mean lean portion assembled without passion or pride.
Feeling undernourished I then ordered a crab sandwich which was even worse.
Almost a brown crab paste with an absence of white meat that was parsimonious in content to the extent of being mean. Bread should be the vehicle for the content not the other way around.
However the Madri beer was excellent!
The staff were very competent and mostly friendly. All rooms are different sizes , but my single one was small and very warm.
Very hot in the top bedroom.
The location is great. Near the town and on the beach.
My single room overlooking the sea was great!
I was originally given room 116a. I would not recommend this room in the heat of summer as it was quite small, stuffy and looking over the back of the kitchen so noisy too. I was moved to a nicer room with no questions so felt heard and was very happy with the alternative offered.
Its location on the esplanade and the very friendly and helpful staff. The food in the restaurant was good with a different menu for each of the 2 nights we stayed.
There was nothing I didn’t like
Beautiful view from my room , very helpful staff
My breakfast wasn’t great, but partly due to my being vegetarian and not fancying any of the options
Very set in ways - eg. had to pre order dinner which I did not know but eventually they accomodated. Breakfast start at 8 is not great - plus they were ready at 7.45 with a queue outside but still did not open doors, all a bit jobsworth.
