Not impressed with this hotel. Definitely not handicapped accessible. My husband and I both have mobility issues. Our first impression was not good. The sidewalk leading into the hotel slopes towards the parking lot making it difficult for someone with mobility issues. There is a big tripping hazard where the sidewalk meets the entrance to the hotel. It is marked with yellow paint but a person with visual problems would not be aware. They only have one room with handicapped facilities but the room only has one bed. We each require our own bed so we opted for a room with two beds for our 2 night stay. The bathroom is small - too small to bring my walker into it. The toilets are really low and no grab bars on the tub. The bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. The dining room is only available via stairs. No assistance was offered by the staff to help me get my walker down the stairs. I managed on my own thankfully. The breakfast was awful. We skipped it the next day. Not a very pleasant stay.
I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life.
The rooms are dingy, the beds are uncomfortable, the hotel is not really accessible for disabled people, breakfast was awful, but the front desk staff on June 13 and 14 are what made this stay truly terrible.
The desk clerk on the 13th decided to falsely accuse us of smoking in our room and issue us a $350 plus tax fine. She served me the notice while my partner was outside having another smoke. She told me she smelled it in the hall and then sent in housekeeping (while he was outside smoking and I was shopping) to take pictures of our room. She showed me the pictures she claimed showed ash. I couldn't see anything in the photos and when I went back to inspect the room, all I saw was cracker crumbs. She told me I could not dispute the charge. Her decision was final. I said I would speak to the manager the next day.
When I spoke to the manager while checking out, the story had escalated to someone overhearing me yelling at my partner about smoking in the room. That was a lie, but she was unwilling to listen to me. We also asked why, if he was smoking, didn't the smoke alarms go off. She said they don't work. Comforting in a zone that is at risk of forest fire every year.
I have appealed the charge with corporate two weeks ago but they just circled me back to the first manager so I am getting nowhere. I have heard from no one else representing Coast Hotels or Edson Coast.
I have never been treated so disrespectfully by hotel staff before. My partner and I are frequent travelers who take pride in being good hotel guests, I will never recommend Edson Coast or any Coast hotel to anyone.
