It was compact but clean with everything required
Due to the place closing its doors for good, we were the last guests to stay there. This meant no breakfast, limited staffing and 1 or 2 other minor issues
The bed was very comfy. The room was fab. Everything we needed.
Sad it is closing, as now we have found these rooms, it would be perfect for us and our dog.

Dirty room, used towels, used sheets, dirty duvet, approach was awful it looked like a builders yard.
Worst reception ever no welcome could not even bother to give us a key we had to go into bar to collect it did not feel welcome at all.

Steep stairs; wish the garden area were more attractive
The location was perfect for us attending a party just 5 minutes walk away. The room was in a separate building at the back of the pub and was, therefore, very quiet. Two medium sized flights of stairs to reach our room which was one of three in the building. Not the largest room ever but well laid out and more than adequate for two people with plenty of hanging space for our clothes. The room was clean and equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, including biscuits. The coffee machine used pods which were supplied so you could have a decent cup of coffee. There was also a fridge and a hairdryer. The double bed was warm and comfortable. The shower room (no bath) was clean and tidy and supplied soft, white towels, a selection of toiletries and plenty of hot water. In the entrance to the building there was an iron and ironing board, always handy to have available.
Not sure there was anything we didn’t like, we were only there for less than 24 hours and found nothing to complain about. We stayed on a Monday night, the King Alfred is closed on Mondays so we didn’t meet the landlord/landlady, all communication was done by mobile phone which was slightly odd but not a problem. Breakfast was not available but with Clark’s Village just down the road we had any number of places to choose from for breakfast so, again, this was not a problem.
Convenient location. Five minute walk from high street and Clarks Village.Friendly helpful staff and enjoyed a very nice meal in the pub.
