The position of the hotel is perfect. You will find yourself in the absolute silence of wilderness beauty.
We found absurd the need to pay 10€/night (or 30€/stay) for the Aurora alert. People visiting are clearly there to see the northern lights, and from a 4star hotel this should be complementary
The hotel is nice and cosy, although don’t expect 5 star service. Remember you are almost 400 kms inside the arctic circle, but its very good in general. Daily activities allow to experience unique adventures like snowmobile and husky sledge driving. Chances of seeing auroras is high, weather dependent. Food is good, but buffet and not so many options, but tasty and home made feeling. This is my second time in the hotel and ive seen auroras 5 out of 7 nights in March and 3 out of 7 nights in January. Most guides are international and very well informed about wildlife, auroras, etc. Facilities are in good condition.
Only one thing i would change, is that you could have the option of booking individual activities, cause its always in groups…. And some members of those groups ruin the experience (like driving a snowmobile at 20kms/hr and the entire group having to wait for them.
Definitively a very well balanced experience that i would highly recommend for first timers in the auroras game.
A plus is that they provide winter gear (external) so you dint need to pack very heavy or spend lots of money in one time use gear.
the room was incredible great view of the northern lights while in bed. The perfect way to celebrate our engagement. the day before. Beautiful resort we were only there for one night would happily come back and stay longer.
Some very minor dislikes:
some of the luggage transport sleds we used needed to be repaired
Found it quiet difficult to control the light settings in the room, perhaps another nights stay and I would have cracked it
Ottima posizione nel cuore di Nellim. Colazione e Cena eccezionali.
Wilderness Nellim is incredible — I would definitely come back. The cabins are cozy and perfect for the Arctic setting.
The Northern Lights were extremely visible and absolutely breathtaking. A truly unforgettable experience.
The activities are fantastic and create lifelong memories.
Highly recommended!
Nota 10 a toda equipe do hotel!
Amazing location and very comfortable accommodation. Great food and a fantastic place to do snow based activities and see the northern lights. I would have given 5 stars except for a few areas where I felt the service or attention to detail could have been improved. One - we were staying in an Aurora cabin where the whole point is to be able to see the lights from the room, so it was disappointing that on arrival the snow had not been cleared from the glass. I appreciate it does not take long to push the button to defrost it but given they knew our time of arrival it would have been a nice touch to have ensured it was clear for that wow factor. Small thing but just a suggestion! Two - it would be useful and very easy for guests to be given full details of what gear is required for each activity. You need helmets for snowmobiling for example but not the husky sledding. So when you arrive for an activity, you always have to wait for everyone to have the right gear or go and get it. If you knew in advance it would be more efficient. Three - I left some shoes in my room when I checked out and emailed them to ask if they could post them back to me. They did respond after two emails chasing to say they had looked but hadn't found them. I know I left them there so where did they go? Anyway, apart from the above, it is a super place and we had a great time.
Beautiful place, nice and comfortable accommodation, tasty (and almost all lactose free and mostly gluten free) food, friendly staff
Except quite cold weather (- 35°- -28°C) that partially limited stay outside , NOTHING.
Made for foreigners not accustomed with winter and snow.
Good for groups, not for individuals.
List prices high to give virtual discounts for groups.
More options for self served activities incl lunch boxes etc.
Better selection in the in-house convenience store since all other shops are 40+ km away.
The Adventure Week at the Wilderness Hotel in Nellim was the highlight of our trip. The staff are wonderful, the food is great and the activities are awesome. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in a Northern Lights adventure.
