The staff were lovely
For the price the room should have been nicer, the shower was barely usable given how low it was and it was ridiculously hot being stuffed up in essentially an attic room. It felt overpriced when the hairdryer was an installed thing that looked like it belonged in the 70s too and generally the features weren’t up to scratch for the cost.
The breakfast was exceptional but finding the car park was difficult drove around for a while could have had signage.
There was nothing we did not like the views around the hotel were beautiful and the river outside the hotel was a delight. The only thing that was difficult for me was the stairs hard to go up ok if your younger. The toilet in the bathroom very low to sit on again difficult with age.
It was as a lovely old building, tasteful and a lovely location. Lots of lovely touches too.
Nothing.
Ambience, comfort, location by river and excellent food
This Is a lovely picturesque property - A charming hotel that is authentic. It felt very quaint and homely. The staff were great and looked after us well. The breakfast which is a la carte (not buffet) was fantastic and we had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. We enjoyed drinks in the garden with the view of the river. The hotel is a 25 minute drive to the coast. We visited Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry Rocks.
We were not happy with our room. Our medium category room seemed smaller than what we had booked and the bathroom was small. Our sink was tiny, the size of an airplane sink - had we known and images were shown we would have booked a higher/different room category especially since we stayed 3 nights. Our carpet was also stained more than usual.
If you prefer real comfort best to book a higher category room or a suite.
The front desk staff could have been warmer.
Beautiful location with the weather to match. The building itself retained all the period features that makes it unique but with modern contemporary updates which elevated it . Lovely bedroom with modern bathroom. Dining room was stunning with lovely views over the garden.
Nothing
Everything was just "wow" From the mini suite, to the staff, the food, the ambience, the location. I booked it for our 20th wedding anniversary as I wanted something special and it will certainly be a wonderful memory.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
The house and gardens are beautiful, the staff were helpful and friendly and the food was delicious.
The fact that we couldn't stay longer.
-
1. The Restaurant & Kitchens seemed to be understaffed and service was, on two of the four night stay, slow.
2. On my four nights stay, the Menu was identical on each of the nights. Though the food was good, the menu became ‘Boring’.
Superb hotel with efficient friendly staff. Would defiantly recommend a stay here.
I think the staff were not as customer focussed as they should be. For example, I asked for a drink on the terrace and the member of staff said that he would get it when he had finished opening all the umbrellas. I think he should have left that task until after he had provided my drink. In similar vein, when I came to check out, I sat patiently whilst my bill was prepared but after 5 minutes (which is too long), the phone rang and the lady dealt with it, causing me to wait another 3 or 4 minutes.
Loved it here!
Absolutely loved every single thing.
The staff were all very welcoming professional & friendly.
The Priory was so beautiful & totally relaxing. The food was the best ever!
And the room was beautiful, and bed so comfortable.
The whole place had a wonderful vibe about it, secluded location, and beautiful surroundings.
Soon as l checked in l was upgraded which was a lovely surprise.
This is the most beautiful and relaxing place l have ever stayed in.

This was hospitality at its best. I had a lovely suite, and enjoyed delicious meals, served by attentive and knowledgeable staff. The location is exceptional, gardens spreading down to a busy river. Wareham is a charming little town, with some delightful walks along the riverside. The hotel of course is beautiful, but the big plus is the staff, nothing was too much trouble.
Oh being picky, but I hate those mean little bottles of toiletries in the bathroom. Even if they were Molton Brown.
