Convenient place to stay, shame about the hospitality staff. Reception staff lovely.
Pros:

It’s great location in the town, with secure parking. As it was sunny it was lovely to be out on the green. Comfortable bar and restaurant area.

Cons:

I appreciate that a lot of work has been done on the hotel, but for the price more effort required in the bathrooms and window replacement. The stairs and hallways are in need of refurbishing. The staff need to care more and actively listen. Eg asked why we were there … a funeral.. response … have a great weekend. The staff need to make you feel more special, which you’d expected at £240 room rate.
Cooked breakfast good … continental section not very inspired.
And why can’t you provide barista coffee at breakfast? If not then provide decent coffee - I drink black coffee and I find your coffee undrinkable
In general not great value for money

A comfortable and welcoming stay.
Pros:

The location being very convenient for the town and visiting the surrounding areas. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. The bar and restaurant areas were very comfortable and calming. It was a pleasure to sit in the bar with a drink or coffee and watch the world go by. There was an excellent choice of beverages.

Cons:

There was nothing we didn’t like. The only thing we would mention is that the food menu , in our opinion, could have been a little more “à la carte “. It did resemble a pub menu rather than a restaurant menu. The portion sizes were hearty and we felt a little bit guilty that we couldn’t eat all of our meals.

Apart from the evening meal, I would certainly use this hotel on a B and B basis
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was OK but not exceptional.

Cons:

Evening meal was a little dissapointing. The duck ceaser salad was particularly poor for the price
