Samet Ville was a wonderful surprise for us as first-time visitors. It is a rustic setting with a private beach and a wonderfully warm bay inlet. The sand is soft and clean, and the villas range from rustic to modern. The staff was terrific, and the food options were plentiful. This setting is far down the island at Ao Wai, requiring a taxi or motorbikes to move about the island.
Be advised—a similarly named property, Samed Villa, is located on Ao TubTim, a more active part of the island with ample food options, bars, and an equally wonderful waterfront.
If you would like to have a holiday in a quiet place with beautiful beach and fantastic blue water ,this is the place. The only thing there is wrong with this place is that it is a little bit far away from everything. It takes about 15 minutes on the back off open car to go to the” city.”. And you have to discuss with the taxi drivers about the price. that’s a little bit annoying. If you’re up for it,rent a scooter.
Didn’t stay there, we just had a few drinks at their bar. When I wanted to go to the toilet (I had had a drink there after all) I was asked to pay for the it, as the lady said only eating customers can use it for free.
Flabbergasted, I asked the lady to give me back the tip I had left her and paid for the toilet with that.
With such rude service, obviously I don’t recommend this place.
2nd time now. The beach is ok. The rooms beyond basic. The breakfast is not fit for a dog. Cold disgusting 'hot dogs' and freezing disgusting 'fried eggs' are the highlight. The staff are still slow and rude. You cant just order a kra pao. Its one of those rip off places where they charge 1 person 300 baht for a plate of bland minced pork and then ask if you want a 20 or 200 baht rice. Its a joke.
Lovely relaxing place to stay. I've been going to this island almost every year since 2007. Stayed at many different places, and this is the first time I felt strongly enough to write a review. Enjoyed myself staying here so much that I rescheduled my flight twice so I could stay longer. This is where I'll stay again when I return to the island.
The beach is great with white sand and blue water. It's isolated and private. However, the only restaurant offers not much variety with quality. Only fish was fresh. During the Songran festival, it was very busy and had to wait long time for food. Going to the village takes about 20 minutes with Toktok. They have some new building but we stayed in a rustic cottage near the beach. It was small and service is not like a normal hotle.
Given choice of two rooms, we chose the one out on the rocks overlooking the sea. Despite the final few metres being very uneven we were thrilled with this spot.
Room was lovely and clean with windows to front and side. Large comfortable bed. Large balcony with chairs, table and clothes airer.
Very few guests used the dining room - one night we were the only people eating there.
Daytime we ate at the beach tables, which was lovely. Delicious food nicely presented.
The pool was clean, a nice pool - but the area around not great since there was a big drop from the edges which would be dangerous for children. It really needs a barrier for safety for little children.
The beach would be better for the children. Very safe and the whole bay exclusive to this hotel.
Hotel is tucked away. We arrived by taxi luckily so the driver knew the location.
☺️☺️☺️
Great, quiet beach with calm water! They also have a pool that’s kid-friendly.
Nothing fancy about the resort itself but its setup puts you right in front of the beautiful beach. Rooms are generally clean and while they can’t clean the room to protect their staff from COVID exposure, they provide towels and toiletries everyday.
Breakfast’s typical but they have a full array of Thai and Western food that you can order. They also have a convenience store given its location from the busier beaches.
Ive lived in Thailand for 17 years and been to many many beach resorts. This is the 1st time ive felt the need to moan. Its just shocking prices, service, food...that pic was part of a 450 baht 'meal' ... ham and cheese sandwich (ham and salad cream) + a krapao. The workers here are unbelievable. Is there a manager? Does anyone run this place? Stunning beach stunningly awful everything else.
Its all about the beach and sea though. Without the beach this resort monopolises there is little to reccomend. The staff are very friendly but treated badly by resort owners. The staff are working at least 16 hours a day and paid after working 3 months, with wage retained by resort owners. you can see how unhappy the staff are, they are not smiling, and they have been told to shear the tourists for every last satang.
One morning I asked to take milk to my room from breakfast so I could make tea in my room. The next day it was 60 baht for milk, 80 baht for a cup of hot water. They even took the milk away from the breakfast buffet.
So it is not just the beach visitors they squeeze for every last baht but also the guests. I was paying for a 4800 - 5200 baht a night superior garden view cottage. 2 small bottles of water.
Charged for use of on beach shower and toilet. Charged for extra water.
To show just how evil the resort owners are I provide you a photo of the vinegar station and they charge 100 baht to buy the vinegar in the shop
fantastic beach ! That’s it ...
dirty, out of maintenance, rat in the out door living area . Sin bed if you want you pay extra .... food quality ... 7/11 style;)
One/two star hotel maximum . No cheep at all and no way no honey moon suite standard at all !!! Be aware .
Camping is the felling you have when you stay in this fantastic but less-manage resort .
Funny think ... at the reception ... sorry we have rat in shower .... smoke and I know ... this is the bill Thk ;)
Ops forget ... extra bed for my child ... a rat bites matters line on the floor with out the full set of linen . 20 US day . With smile ;)
So sad and non-hygienic !
This was, by far, the worst restaurant i’ve ever visited. After 30min the first dish came, a dry and cold, hot sandwich. After 45 min the sodas came. And the rest of the food hadn’t come after 1h and 15 min 😫😫
The staff is so bad at english and feels very rude. Not serviceminded at all! Only 1 person from the staff can a little bit english. When u try to talk to the others, they just walk away....!
The beach is the absolut best on the island. It calm and peaceful and quiet. I will absolute come here again. But only for the beach!!!
Unfriendly staff that was only looking when you tried to get their attention. They had problems with the orders and missed the drinks. If you dont speak thai you dont get any service. We waited one hour för the food. Se paid 120 tbt for a cold ham and cheese sandwich with some few strips.
Friendly staff and good food in the restaurant.
Beach and the environment is amazing.
The only disadvantages was the breakfast, it was mediocre.
The staff are not good in English which can be understood as being unpleasant, but give them a chance, they are friendly and mean well.
What did i get for 1500 per night. Old tatty room, sea view was actually 60% hut in front and 40% sea. Room away from beach and pool. Rude staff refused to change our room unless we paid for upgrade..even though most rooms were empty. Restaurant very expensive by normal standards...100baht for a toddlers omelette!! Resort miles from anything so have no choice but to pay overinflated prices. Def won't be staying here again.
I have been a number of times in Koh Samed, and I think this beach (Ao Wai) is the best on the island; beautiful and difficult to reach (and consequently not crowded at all). Safe for this Resort, there isn't anything else here; this can be good (if you are looking for peaceful and quiet environment) or bad (if you are looking for fun). The bungalows are very different in price, location and quality: we chose a bungalow right in front of the beach ad it was great. The restaurant is good either concerning food as well as location; Breakfast is served in another building far from the beach and is ..... "soviet style": poor food in a grey environment. All in all, this place is perfect if you are looking for a peaceful place far from the noise of the most popular beaches on the island.
En-route transportation was horrible! We had to land from the speedboat on the beach and hauled the luggage to the front office. There is no restaurant around the hotel and you ended up eating at the terrible restaurant inside. The breakfasts served at the hotel is 1 star quality. Overall a very poor conditioned facility not worth the money!
