For a 3 star hotel there was only a Starbucks if you wanted coffee and I personally just prefer a traditional standard cup of coffee not at $5 a cup. Most lobbies have open coffee bar with juice and such with breakfast items again I only had Starbucks and what was called the bistro with limited options for a fee. So with the cost of the room being what it was it did not have the amenities that other hotels have.

Perfect hotel and employees, walking distance to town, quiet and comfortable room
Pros:

Location was perfectly located in the lovely welcoming town of Cape Girardeau. We stayed just one night and had a great time. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the River front park, shops with vintage items, farmers market, and live Cajun music on the city hall’s front lawn. We even had views of the River and bridge from our room. Hotel employees were wonderful and hotel is beautifully renovated, quiet at night and easy free parking! Loved it!

Cons:

Add outdoor sitting areas like patios or roof top garden. Add a pool!

Lovely old building, like new
Pros:

The historical renovation of the old building was very nice. I love old buildings and had not anticipated this feature of the Marriott. It was such a nice surprise.

Renovating old buildings like this is always such a challenge so I appreciate how carefully it was done. Keeping the vault was genius.

We enjoyed food in the restaurant, it was pretty good.

I like the location, across the street from a busy coffee shop.

Courtyard with Character
Pros:

My daughter and I were traveling for a basketball tournament. This hotel was 6 miles from the event center. It was very nice. The hotel had a vintage feel but was very clean and welcoming. We stayed in a king room, and it was very spacious with a nice view. The doors also have the soft close hinges so if you open the door and let it close on its own it doesn't slam. While I did see other children that obviously came for the basketball tournament and other children that were there for a baseball event, I did not hear them throughout the night, the room was very well insulated, so I did not hear anything outside of our room.

Cons:

I did not like there was not a microwave in the room. I also did not like that there was only one washing machine and dryer in the whole facility. My daughter was playing on Saturday and Sunday, so I did want to wash her uniform after she played on Saturday but there was already a family using the facility, but I was able to get up early Sunday and use the washer and dryer.

Great old building in cool location
Pros:

I really like historic buildings so I loved the way this building had been renovated. I think the renovation is nearly 10 years old and it looks brand new to me. The lobby was interesting with all of its little seating areas that were semi-private, the tall ceilings, and the architectural details.

My room had 12 foot ceilings and they are very special! The bathroom shower was very cool. The mattress was, as always, excellent. The beds are always great in Marriotts.

I like the location very much near the river and in the old downtown area.

Cons:

I’m not sure if there was free coffee in the lobby, but that would be a nice perk. I’ve didn’t see any. The coffee in the room was passable, but just barely.
