Location, location!!
Pros:

Secret Garden
Location, location! Perfectly situated on the main street and minutes walk to everywhere. Our room was situated on the 2nd floor and our last luggage was carried up and down! Very friendly manager, Roshan, his wife and all the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Basic accom with comfortable beds and hot shower. Great breakfast - try the Sri Lankan omelette! The restaurant beneath is a bonus - great food!

Value for money and pleasant stay
Pros:

Small but comfortable with a great location. The manager and staff couldn’t do any more for our stay. Great hot water and most comfortable mattress

Pros:

La posizione. Estremamente centrale e comoda per girare il Fort a piedi.

Cons:

La struttura è a dir poco rudimentale. Essendo all'interno di un vecchio palazzo tipico, probabilmente l'aspetto antiquato degli spazi è dovuto anche a questo.
La camera era poco spaziosa e il bagno un po' deludente. Per via della posizione, la struttura non è particolarmente silenziosa e il prezzo non è modesto come in altri posti in Sri Lanka.
È positivo il fatto di poter scegliere tra tipologie di colazioni differenti ma quelle da noi scelte non erano particolarmente interessanti o abbondanti.

Pros:

Location is wonderful and staff are lovely, responsive and very helpful. Beds were super comfortable. This could be an amazing stay- but there are few bits to improve, WiFi was not good- however any access across the fort seemed pretty weak and this is often the case in Sri Lanka so not a major issue. The TV didn’t work, one AC unit was just hit and miss if it would work and unfortunately we had no hot water in the bathroom. Staff tried really hard to get this fixed and arranged for an electrician to attend, sadly he couldn't come until the next morning and did fix it- this was however too late for us to enjoy the very beautiful bath, which, as this was our last night before travelling home, was actually the reason for us selecting this hote, an alternative room was offered but this didnt have a bath and wasn't needed but the offer was appreciated. I would happily stay again- would just maybe message to get them to check the bath before arrival 🤣

The pearl of the Old Fort
Pros:

This is a hidden gem in the old fort. It doesn't look comfort when arriving but.... it immorally is!

Sri Lankan hospitality at it finest! We stayed at many places in the fort but this outrun the high priced hotels!

The bathroom 😍, the beds are perfect and it's really really clean!

Cons:

Everything was perfect!

Pros:

Location is the saving grace, at the heart of the old fort city. But then again, nothing opens till 9...

Cons:

No air conditioning. The air conditioning in the room was broken and stayed broken for the entire stay.

No coffee for breakfast. The lame excuse for a "Breakfast" starts being served only at 8:45. Before that, you're out of luck. They do not serve everything that is on the set list, unless you remind them of the items, like baked beans (they "forgot") or ham/bacon ("forgot"). The coffee machine was broken when we arrived, and stayed broken for the 3 days. Do yourself a favor, do not pay for included breakfast and get a real breakfast at the nice cafes across the street, that start earlier too. Better selection, better juices.

Extremely narrow spiral stairway to get to the room, very difficult with a child in your arms, with heavy luggage or for older people

Occasional power cuts, no generator.

Central location with great staff. Rooms not equipped with the best facilities. Good breakfast.

Not the best facilities and access to the room through a very narrow low height spiral metal staircase. Inaccessible for tall or plus size , old disabled customers and possibly a trap in case of fire or emergency exit.
