Let me be this out of the way: I hate the neighborhood. I usually try to avoid it but we needed to be nearby on this trip which meant we had the treat of staying at the Merrion Row. This was my second stay here It’s like a cozy Irish townhouse hotel in the middle of the city. High end finishes, clean and cozy, unpretentious. It makes up for the crowds outside by being quiet, warm, friendly, and easy to enjoy. The queen rooms are tiny and gave an air shaft so probably would opt for a king next time, but the furnishings are lovely regardless. Breakfast in the solarium is a treat and you’ll get to chat with Sebastian and Shona which is a grand way to start your day.
My mom, teenage daughter, and I spent five nights at Merrion Row Hotel between Christmas and New Years. What a cute, historic boutique hotel right in the middle of everything!
Pros: LOCATION! Walking distance from most of the major sites in Manhattan and a short subway or Uber ride from the rest. Hotel is clean and updated with a historic, charming feel. We had fresh linens and beds made every day. Service was awesome, staff was super hospitable giving it more of a b&b vibe. Food vouchers were great --- we used them for midday apps, afternoon teas, and dessert delivered to our room.
Cons: Location also means more noise at all hours. Bring a noise machine or earplugs or play white noise on your phone. Sheets, although clean, were crunchy and loud at night any time we turned over (I will also never understand why hotels don't use fitted sheets!). The rooms and bathrooms are small with little space for luggage for 3 people, and they could use a trashcan in the bedroom (there's only one located in the bathroom). Lastly, the nearest subway stop is a couple of blocks away. Not a big deal, but just something to consider.
Overall, we had an amazing trip and would definitely recommend this hotel!
We just love this beautiful oasis in the middle of Time's Square. Such convenience and excellent service.
Very close to everything, right near Times Square
I liked the location and it was a very quaint hotel. What made it the most special was the wonderful staff!!
Nothing!!
Amazing
Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s a small intimate hotel and yet has all you may want or need. The room was so lovely, simple yet very comfortable. The bathroom was super clean and so pretty. The soaps even were wonderful. The carpet in the hallway was so nice…the feeling of fresh and updated. I am really picky about the vibe of a place and Merrion Row was just perfect. Historical feeling but with comfort and care in mind. It has an artsie flare to the room as well. It’s located so so conveniently and we walked everywhere!
Reception door could've been locked. On one morning at 6:30am, an addict was lurking in the breakfast area. Didn't feel safe. Hope you can look into security measures.
My husband and I were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and love spending it in New York City….seeing a pile of musicals and enjoying great food. My husband found us this perfect boutique hotel. Merrion Row is beautifully finished, fabulously maintained and such a warm and comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. The restaurant food is very good. The lovely lady, Shona whom we met and talked to every day seems to run the place. The Irish pub next door is also owned by the same owner of Merrion Row and also has fabulous food. We will definitely stay there again!!! We give this accommodation a 15/10. Don’t even bother to look anywhere else.
