The room was very nice. The ceiling fan was plenty to keep us cool but in baking hot weather guests should know there's no AC. The eating area is beautiful and the guests while we were there kept it clean. The cleaning staff were the best kind of hospitable and the rooms were immaculate.
The "contactless" Hotel check in process was dreadful . . . so little contact that we almost couldn't get in at all. Locked front door. No reply to the listed phone number and no call back in response to two messages left with the listed number. No response to the doorbell either even though it turned out there was someone in "reception" in the kitchen. The building has NO STAFF on site at all over the weekend.
By contrast, once we were inside the building the "contactless" room key worked very well.
Lo único bueno es la ubicación
La llave no me funcionó estuve 4 horas esperando para entrar, bastantes indigentes, hay mal olor en el lugar, no pude ingresar, hay ruidos de noche, las llaves no sirven,
Great location, nice shared kitchen.
It's actually a hostel. The shared bathroom is very small and old. Very loud vent noise in the room (I think there is a restaurant vent or something just outside the window). Zero acoustic isolation between rooms.
Location
Could not connect to wifi
I like the dining room and the room is clean.
It was freezing cold. No extra blankets and even sitting in the dining room you had to wear a warm jacket.
Hayes Valley Inn has become my go-to for my frequent trips for a night or two in SF. Moving far up the coast after many years in 'the city, " I need a comfortable, reliable, and cost-effective place to stay. The location is superb and familiar. The public parking garage is a short walk away. It's never packed or crowded in hallways or at the venue, and is a very similar place to a wonderful European guesthouse. The common areas are amazing. from just a place to sit on a sofa or spend time in a greater space with a refrigerator, kitchen, and view of the hustle outside the window and below, and tables and space to work, spread out, or just enjoy the often interesting other folks at the place. The price is amazing. And while the rooms are small and do not have a private bathroom, the bathroom and shower rooms are private and like a European hotel. It's reliable and my home away from home. The staff I pass, housekeeping, are lovely and helpful. It took a while to get used to the remote and phone check-in with open key and not the ready access f help on the premises, but I am used to it now, and it's reliable. And right outside the door is the awesome hustle and bustle of one of the best neighborhoods in San Francisco. Thank you, Hayes Valley Inn. I give this spot a 10 but I don't want it to get too popular. :) It's like a secret.
I would like a bit more comfort in the remote check-in process, just in case I need on-the-spot help. Perhaps, an on-site person in case of a problem like getting locked out or not having signal on my phone, to solve an issue. Something where I can rely on the comfort of having an immediate answer to something that may come up, or even a hotline with immediate support
Clean and comfortable for a great price in a great location.
shared washroom
super early check-in, great location
cold in the room, even colder in the hallway, I’m talking only slightly warmer than outside (December in SF)
...Loved the ease of check-in, the very friendly and room attendants. The customer service was also really good, as I had a problem with my electronic key. They were amazing, and had a quick solution.
The only problem was that my room was colder than it was outside. This season, the room needs heat.
The location is good and in a "vibey" neighbourhood
The room was smaller than expected and certainly looking tired. My room didn't have any windows that could be opened and the air was stale. The carpet could use a deep clean.
