Great place to experience Arashiyama
Pros:

Beautiful ground floor room in nondescript building is a quiet part of town. Unfussy excellence. Perfect for us.

Nowhere to congregate in common areas (lobby seating). Perfect for couples.

A wonderful hotel with a beautiful, comfortable room and lovely bathroom.
Pros:

This was the best hotel room we have ever stayed in. Our room was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and much larger than we had expected. The bed was so comfortable and the hotel was nice and quiet. There was a comfortable sofa and a balcony with a view of the hills. The bathroom was fantastic, with a lovely deep bath. The staff were polite and friendly. We loved staying in Arashiyama as it felt peaceful in the evenings and was easy to get the train to other places. Arashiyama itself was beautiful and not too crowded when you walk further away from the bamboo forest and more touristy bits.

Everything was great.

Pros:

La chambre était grande, douche gigantesque, le lit hyper confortable, pleins de belles attentions dans la chambre et à l'arrivée. C'était au delà de mes attentes, le gros luxe abordable.

Quiet, spacious, and fun area near River and hikes with huge rooms.
Pros:

This hotel room was HUGE and such a treat after small Tokyo rooms! Each floor only has two rooms, and the neighborhood was super quiet, so it’s a lovely restful area. The hotel was very close to a main train line into downtown so it was easy to connect. The bed was super comfortable and the wet- room with tub was excellent! The in-room coffee and tea station was a lovely bonus and the view of the mountains was spectacular. Staff was very kind. Would definitely stay again!

The night staying near to the bamboo forest made a perfect end for our visit at Kyoto.
