This place looks terrific from the outside - the layout, the buildings, the pool and water feature.
Inside it is a bit tired and could do with a refresh. Plumbing was not great - they did change rooms for the second night and things were better (proper hot shower). Everyone had the same problem that the shower went all over the bathroom - simple shower curtains would have reduced the impact.
Grounds were well maintained and breakfast was comprehensive and good food.
At the end probably more disappointed in respect of what it indicated it had been and could easily could be again.
Average hotel, only a few amenities. It was very cold outside and we had trouble getting the room heater to work. The restaurant food was average but the interior too cold to enjoy it. Staff were all lovely however . It was the slow season so not much to do there tho the summer might be nicer.
I'm honestly not that fussy about hotels, but this place was completely unacceptable. It looks nice from the outside, but our room was really dirty and everything was broken down (leaky toilet that wouldn't stop "running" all night, shower drain was blocked and flooded the bathroom, soap dispenser fell off the wall when I touched it). The restaurant was mediocre and over-priced, and the front desk staff were rude (assuming that you could find them at all - reception was mostly unattended). It's also quite far from Chefchouen (20 euros for a taxi) with nothing to do nearby. I'm mystified as to why anyone in their right mind would stay there, when we saw plenty of really nice, cheaper options in the town. If you're going there as part of a tour (as I did, unfortunately), I suggest booking your own accommodations in the town and avoiding this place.
Pro: nice facility, you can get grapes and pomegranates off of the tries, facility has lots of potentials.
Con: expensive ($230 / night), when we got to the breakfast buffet next morning the food was gone, the staff in the dining room blamed a large tourist group that came late night before for eating everything, they did not offer us any replacement, we ended up eating olives and some pieces of cheese , very poor experience considering the $230 per night price
The hotel room was not clean. So much dust and the food at the buffet was cold with limited choices. There is no heat/ flame beneath the food. The coffee was cold. The pool was dirty. We had to stay one night while driving from Tangier to Fes and wanted to see Chefchaouen.
Refrigerator not working. Air conditioner had issues.
No curtain for shower
Phone in room not working. We had to personally walk and go to the office to communicate.
Every day same menu with lot of left overs.
We were given the bungalow, which had no lights outside and was remote and dark
We stayed here for two nights and found it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Blue City.
The rooms were spacious but a little dated but the towels and sheets were clean.
The outdoor areas were beautiful with the buildings painted in the blues of the city and the gardens were well kept.
Breakfast was average and the hotel does not sell drinks and the like so make sure you stock up in the city so you have some supplies with you.
Beautiful setting with the Rif Mountains as a backdrop. The outside space by the pool is skilfully designed with the lovely Chefchaouen blue walls and terracotta roof tiles. Orange, lemon and kumquats trees are scattered around the area. I give this 4*
The chef, Tarik Sifat, has to be praised for the delicious spread at dinner and breakfast. There was plenty of choice for vegetarians. When chatting with him, I could tell that he had put a lot of effort in all the various dishes he had prepared. The quinoa salad with argan oil was delicious. I would give the food 5*.
The overall 3* rating is because the room and bathroom we stayed in need to be updated and refreshed. The bedding and towels were clean
and white though.
I would stay there again.
Staff are very attentive and helpful. Room is very outdated with lots of things needing repair. A strong sour smell throughout the area.
We had a very nice breakfast the morning we left. Beautiful area. The hotel grounds are well kept and tidy.
Great grounds, secured behind gate with view to Chefchaouen. Rooms are adequate but very tired and linen well past use by date.
Bathroom spacious but dated, toilet bowl stained and cracked, cistern dripping. Could be fabulous.
Breakfast below average, staff obliging.
Beautiful quiet property, good service and the pool area is amazing.
What would take Dar Ba Sidi to the next level would be better upkeep of the grounds (mowing/weeding), and touch ups on some of the typical expectations of excellent accommodations such as working internal telephones (so you dont need to go to reception when you need anything), water bottles every day of your stay (not just on the first day), etc.
We did enjoy our stay though :)
Amazing hotel, delicious food, very welcoming and friendly staff members, the rooms are good with heating AC and it was clean and cozy. close to Chefchaouen Medina and Akchour Waterfalls. Highly recommended if you are staying in Chefchaouen 🇲🇦
We booked a tripple room and were put into a family room - a double room and a twin adjoining room. The twin room can only be described as a freezer with beds, it had zero amenities aside from the beds, and no heating which made it completely unusable during the 3 degree celcius nights. The bathroom in the main room was a complete disaster. Once the shower was used, the entire room would flood and the moisture in the room condensed to leave a foul damp smell.
The food in the restaurant was average at best, and everything at breakfast was cold (including the tea and coffee) which is far from ideal given the cold weather in December. The restaurant also has no heating so it was heavy jackets at all times. The only saving grace for this place was that the staff in the hotel were reasonably friendly and tried their best to accomodate our requests, but given the poor conditions at this ageing hotel I definitely would not stay here again.
1 out of 5 stars. Hotel from the movie “ the shining” meets “faulty towers “. We are from Canada so we know cold . But little did I realize I would be sleeping hotel kept at the same temperature as a hockey rink. Place run by teenagers. Don’t stay here
Was what we expected very friendly staff, room were very spacious
I cannot comment on the property since I actually did not stay at it but I will comment on how the reservation was handled. I made an honest mistake and neglected to changed the default dates. I had several pages open while planning our trip to Morocco in 2020 and missed changing the dates to our actual dates when I submitted our booking (at 6:14pm EST - which is 11:15pm in Morocco) for the Chefhaouen region at the Dar Ba Sidi Spa. I contacted Expedia immediately. The next day I received a request from Expedia suggesting I resubmit a new reservation for the hotels consideration in the claim. So I did. Now both payments were committed. This puts me in a being held ransom position and now at the mercy of two commitments for the same hotel and no ability to change our plans should such happen. I sent a message to the hotel and they advised "we confirm we did not charge the credit card for the reservation yesterday and we confirm that the refilling will be the day of your arrival". I waited a couple days and the charges were processed for both dates on my credit card. Given how this has been handled I will absorb the loss of the first mistake I made but rest assured, I cannot recommend this resort. Fortunately I had a cancellation option for the second submission I sent. As a result of how this all handled I cannot recommend this resort.
This was a comfortable property with lovely views of Chefchaouen. Wi-fi does not work in the rooms, but the rest of the facilities were lovely.
Nothing was unique. Its not 5 star property as mentioned on the website. If you remove 5 star feom there and put 2 star rating. Then its fine with what they offer.
un panorama splendido, una struttura piacevole nel verde del Rif .
