Area Wellness: Una grande delusione. Sebbene abbia potenzialità, appare datata e trascurata.
Compliments to the staff, they were all excellent. Everyone was friendly and attentive from the masseuse, housekeepers, waiters, receptionists...everyone. Compliments to the chef, both nights that we tried his special menu surpassed our expectations. The desserts were delicious as well. The view was so beautiful and you can hear the nearby stream when you open your room window. It's a tiny village, so everything is really right outside the hotel. It's charming, relaxed, very quiet, and so beautiful. We visited at the end of winter, so watching the snow fall from the large restaurant windows during breakfast was wonderful. And, a visit to the spa is exactly what you need after a day of skiing or trekking.
I'm afraid of heights, so I did NOT enjoy the cable car ride up and down from Chamois. Obviously that has nothing to do with the hotel, but prepare yourself if you're a chicken like me (haha). I only mention that because I'd be willing to brave that scary ride again for another stay here...if it weren't for the unfortunate situation with the children. Maison Cly describes itself as "family friendly" with children's entertainment, so naturally there were multiple families with multiple small children. I had presumed that the children would collected by a staff member and taken to go play in the children's area. Nope. During almost every single breakfast and lunch, the restaurant, hallways, and stairs turned into a play area. This is absolutely the fault of the parents. Also more than once, both we and other guests, decided to leave the lounge because parents and children decided to play noisy boardgames there. Yes, the lounge is for everyone. However, if there are people reading, working on laptops, quietly chatting over a glass of wine...you'd think that going to play in the CHILDREN'S ROOM would be the best option. Nope. Once again, this is the fault of the parents. I just wish the hotel would come up with a solution to let the children play without being underfoot of the waiters and disturbing other guests (because too many parents wouldn't do that themselves). I won't go into details about how wild it got at times, but it was enough that I'd prefer to return after some changes are made. We still really enjoyed ourselves, it just could have been even better. However, we do hope to return another time.
