Second visit!
Pros:

It's our second time there and we love it. Everyone is so friendly! The old red row cottages are beautiful, and they're all very well looked after.

Lovely venue spoilt by poor food.
Pros:

Lovely site, lovely buildings and excellent room. The room was large with an excellent shower. There was plentiful parking'
Drinks prices were very fair and good selection in bar. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

Very disappointed with the restaurant. The printed menu did not reflect the sample menu on the website. Choices were limited and the quality of the food was very ordinary, mainly typical pub regular dishes and no real imagination or creativity.
Plates were only lukewarm, chips were large and tasteless and napkins were cheap paper.
Waitresses in restaurant did not understand the wines offered. Having drunk a Pinot Grigio Blush Rose in the bar we asked for a bottle of the same wine in the restaurant. It was obviously not the same wine as requested when it was served. Researching the label we found it was a Grenache Rose and obviously more expensive than the house rose in the bar. Furthermore restaurant wine is usually opened at the table and the customer invited to sample it - ours was a screw top bottle in a wine cooler unopened and just placed on the table.
Breakfast was most unpleasant. We were warned the previous evening that breakfast would not be served in the restaurant due to work on the roof ducting being unsafe for guests or staff. Breakfast was therefore to be served in the large, permanent marquee usually used as a wedding venue. We were assured it would be warm enough and that there were toilet facilities. The marquee was freezing cold - we should have gone to breakfast in coats! The choices of food were good but the cooked breakfast was very dry - dry bacon and overcooked eggs - the croissants did not seem fresh and the cooked breakfast cooled very quickly in the cold atmosphere.

Wonderful place to stay for my relatives special birthday
Pros:

The staff are absolutely amazing and went the extra mile to make our stay wonderful. Our room was gorgeous.

Cons:

The windows in the bathroom were clear so we had to keep the blinds shut when using it, would be nice if the lower part of the window has a frosted film on like the main entrance door to the room.

Pros:

The location was very pleasant, The breakfast was very average.

Cons:

The twin bedded room was not available when we first arrived.
Although after a wait and a change of rooms and beds we did get our request.
Hand basins so shallow that the water can easily splash over the edges.

Very comfortable stay in a beautiful location.
Pros:

Excellent location, close to Beamish Museum. Very pleasant staff and well appointed, clean accommodation. The bed was very comfortable and the large copper bath was amazing. For classic car enthusiasts there are two excellent showrooms nearby. The hotel provides a delicious breakfast with a variety of options. The views from the conservatory were beautiful.Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Cons:

Cottage was on the ground floor and was very warm in the hot weather. The staff however provided a fan.Had clear windows in bathroom so had to leave the blinds down for privacy making it difficult to open the windows to ventilate the cottage.
