All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at the Black Horse again if we were in the area.
Pros:

We stayed in the Red Row Cottages and the room was surprisingly large, with everything we could possibly need for our 2 night stay. The bath and shower took a little bit of working out but we managed it in the end. The luxury toiletries and bath robes were a nice touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable with a great selection of pillows which meant we slept well both nights.
Breakfast was good on both days and with plenty of choice. We ate in the hotel on one of the evenings and there were several good choices on the menu.

The toilet facilities should have been separated as there was no privacy.

Pros:

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was good and gluten free options. Bar on site and accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for visiting Beamish Museum. Would definitely recommend this place.

Was a get away from the kids

Cons:

Bath took 8 years to run.
Previous stay left razor in bathroom which wasn't removed.
Fan was covered in dust
And all night a boiler noise had a ticking noise which kept me awake

Pros:

We stayed in Huckleberry Cottage which was peaceful and secluded. It was comfortable and homely. We saw some lovely deer in the fields surrounding the cottage. Would return in a jiffy.
