My wife & I have used the Newtown Hotel for the last 30 odd years & it's location is perfect for meeting family & the beach.

The breakfast room was crowded and I was surprised at the self service . No fresh fruit and very limited yoghurt choice.

We stayed in the annexe, which I believe has the larger rooms. Ours was quiet and a very good size. No shuffling around the bed to get past anything. Everything was clean, freshly painted white, and overall the room felt very nice.
The bathroom was also very good and spotless. My partner was especially pleased that it had a bath, and the shower over the bath had strong water pressure.
Evening meal and breakfast were both very good quality. In the case of the evening meal, it’s definitely not one of those places that microwaves a boxed dinner — it was proper food, well cooked.
Parking is easy, and the location is convenient for reaching the town and the beaches.
Nothing major. The Wi‑Fi was very slow in the morning . Not sure if that was just a one‑off, as it had been fine the previous evening. Dinner service finishes at 8 pm, and you need to arrive before then to place your order. For us that was a bit early, but not the end of the world
The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us tips on things to do. My parents stayed in a family room and that was huge, with a great balcony overlooking the garden. The garden itself was lovely, despite the effects of the drought. The rooms were all very well equipped with tea, coffee, fan, hairdryer etc. Parking was very easy and the hotel was nice and near to the places we wanted to visit. Breakfast was good - a decent variety, self-service, and a lovely, sunny room.
My room was situated round the back which made it rather noisy. Due to the heatwave I had to have the windows open and I got woken up by delivery drivers slamming their doors and hotel staff getting things out of the room adjacent to mine. It would be helpful if staff could bear in mind that guests may wish to sleep in a little.
I also found the shower difficult to use. There is no indication as to which direction to turn the knob to make the water warm so I spent a frustrating five minutes trying to adjust it. Perhaps a little sign could be added.
Breakfast, bar, staff, was clean, peaceful and lovely. Very close to the beach.
