The atmosphere and the staff. We liked the small family run hotel it was just the right size. The well maintained gardens. The extras that you got in the restaurant such as bread rolls and proper table cloths.
The bathroom was really tiny in one of our rooms. The rooms facing the garden in the ground floor annexe can be a bit noisy if there’s something going on in the bar / function rooms. Room was quite bright due to outside lights.
Very friendly staff, live music in the garden when we arrived and lovely and sunny so a wine and a pint from the bar complimented the afternoon 😃
The room was the bridle sweet which was lovely and the cooked full English breakfast went down well before we left. The staff were amazing here too. We only had 1 night before getting the ferry to the Isle of Wight but will definitely stay again but for longer.
Great stay. Staff are warm and friendly. Excellent breakfast.
Grounds and location
Evening meals were excellent
Noise from other guests letting doors with self closers slam at all hours
We stayed four nights and room was only serviced once.
Stayed here before a few years ago and it was really lovely…this time it had more of a feel of a pub with rooms rather than a hotel.
We had a lovely breakfast every thing you called won't and the staff were great 😋
Felt the atmosphere was excellent staff very helpful, I will rebook again.
All good
The room was very clean and the staff very friendly
Large spacious room, comfortable bed. Friendly staff, from Chloe the receptionist to Magda and the gent working hard to make breakfast go well. Lovely food in the restaurant and nice outside space.
No complaints

Nice comfortable bed, good shower and facilities
Friendly and helpful staff, Lovely building and gardens and smart room. Room had good choice of tea and coffee, with handy items such as iron and board. Good quality shower too. Good selection with the included breakfast.
Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, mould around bath and shower screen. Rest of room very clean though
