The breakfast is insanely good value for £7. Choice of cereals, milk and fruit juice. Choice of items of a cooked breakfast ranging from a full Scottish, to eggs on toast cooked as per your preference, and even a vegetarian option if that would suit you better. The hotel was perfect for my location. The building has some heavily worn areas but overall my room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff were superb.
Some bits of the building are tired / worn, however I still maintain this is MORE THAN superb value for money.
I have stayed before. Simply used as an overnight stop fpr business travel and for this it was perfect.
Nothing on this visit.
Duns is a very pleasant town in the Scottish border country, and the hotel is well situated on the town square. This was a comfortable and well maintained small hotel with excellent dining restaurant and bar, and good breakfast, and provided a much needed overnight stay on a longer road trip down from the north of Scotland into England. It might in future at another time, if possible, be a good place to stay a little longer if holidaying in the area. The room was nicely furnished with good ensuite bathroom. Overall the hotel was good value.
No major problems here for me. Car parking was on the town square outside the hotel, which was fine for overnight. Perhaps to be noted that during the day this parking allows two hours, but the vehicle would need to be moved after that
The staff were friendly. The food was very good
O Dear! The whole place is very tired and badly needing upgrades. The carpet on arrival on the staircase is very old and dirty, The bedroom furniture is dark , and needs upgrades. The ensuite bathroom in our room was clean and new, but we had to go up narrow steep stairs to get to it. That is no use if you had mobility issues. I found it dangerous.!!! We are in our 70's. Provided tiny bottles of toiletries, not enough for 2 people. NO SOAP. ?? I Have never been anywhere where soap is not provided. I asked for soap, and was given tiniest bottle of shower gel. Two people in room , one cup had to ask for cup. Meal was lovely, ,would have been better had we not to ask for cutlery, soup served no spoon. O Dear !!! . Nothing seemed to be organised.!!!!!. Breakfast much more organised , tables set .
Breakfast was fine range of cooked and cereals
I just love the vibes here. Local family that owns it, I believe. The manager (the owner's son) is super sound, and so are ALL the staff. I stay here every time I cater at the castle, and I just appreciate the welcome we get, and they always recognise our wee faces. In fact, a bar lady even recognised me on the phone the other day. You won't get that at a Hilton. No Hilton bashing, of course.
Nothing
Staff were mostly very Friendly and the food we had was really very good.
The Hotel is not just 'tired', as has been mentioned in other reviews, it's more than severely exhausted. The room we had wasn't worth anywhere near the money we paid. Hospitality is not confined to just having 'nice' people running an establishment, it's also important that essentials such as Toilet-brushes, showers with close-to decent water-pressure, non-filthy windows and a working TV bigger than an Ipad, are provided. Breakfast ruined by one of the cleaners declaring loudly that 'if I drink any more tea, I'm gonna piss masel'. Nice wee town but stay elsewhere in Duns if you value modern standards. Like stepping back into the 70's.
Frühstück Zimmer sauber. Nettes Personal
Friendly staff made to feel welcome
Bit dated needed better lighting in rooms no space to put anything
Everything was great and will be back soon
Located in the centre of Duns, the hotel is convenient and has everything you need, including a good menu and bar. The breakfast is very good value for money. The rooms are simple, but have everything you need.
The hotel could do with some sprucing up. The communal carpets are very worn for example.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Meals were good quality.
In conclusion, good value for money.
The staff here are superb, nothing was too much trouble a real credit. The hotel was lovely a real gem.
Staff.
Bathroom had seen better days but for the price, good value.
As other people have said the Ladies working are top rate! Unfortunately I didn’t get her name but one girl in particular helped me as Im disabled and was really caring and considerate!
