Of the 10 lodgings we stayed at in Ireland, this was the most unpleasant hotel we have ever stayed at. 1Advertised self parking came with a 10 Euro fee if available in their 6 car lot. 2.$200 deposit in the event we destroyed the room was never mentioned in hotel description 3. No lift to our upper floor room. 4 Television didn’t work and no help forthcoming from the desk. 5.Charm was a misnomer and Oscar Wild would be embarrassed. 6. Water view if you’re lucky to have one included looking past a storage area for garbage bins and other trash. 7. Restaurant was seriously sub standard. 8 The mattress was thin, cheap and uncomfortable. 9. Overpriced for the substandard fare. Save your money. Oscar Wilde would.
Beach view, restaurant/bar on site, friendly/helpful staff were all wonderful.
Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Well kept up and located right across from the beach.
Incredible stay. Location and comfort at its best.
The hotel is very tired. Would need a complete make over
Rooms very small and bathroom tiny. Stains and iron burns on the carpet The bed was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was very good
Tiny room uncomfortable bed no parking as promised
Difficult check in.
Unhelpful staff and a curry smell up to 3rd floor.
Don’t stay there or even consider giving this hotel your money.
Prmefect location for the beach, short walk to the main town centre. Very busy with traffic at weekends.
Pleasant staff, location on the waterfront is lovely. Needs a good clean!! The bed was old lumpy and very uncomfortable. Over priced!
Overall a nice place to stay, but not "fantastic". Check-in took overly long, but the staff was very friendly.
Pleasant hotel but small room.
A bit noisy but not overwhelming. Ocean view room was tight but enjoyable. Indian restaurant was part of hotel had a nice menu and fare.
Could be a good hotel. But they seem to lack attention to detail for the property. Hot water went out in the evening, they said it would be back on in 15 minutes. After 30 I went back down and they said we only asked 5-10 minutes ago. After an hour (now 10pm) it was only luke warm. The bed fitted sheet had a medium sized hole in it. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Heard another guest complaining of the same in the morning. Not the best experience.
Parking was a challenge but we found off site parking. The restaurant was good and the location was gorgeous. Be aware you have to pay for early check in.
I'll check the grammar and spelling in British English for you:
This is the second time we stayed at The Strand, and we were a little disappointed this time. We stayed in a different room and this second visit was not as good as the first one. The hotel was understaffed with no 24-hour reception, and we needed to wait and look for the staff in the bar or restaurants more than once. The café with the terrace and nice view to the sea was not open this time. A real pity.
The condition of the rooms was OK, but some of the lights, curtains, and windows required a little maintenance. Nothing terrible, but we were expecting something better for that money.
The bed was a different story and we were more disappointed with. We are tall people by Irish or European standards, but the length of my bodies hardly fit in the small bed.
Similarly, the toilet was small and not very comfortable.
I understand that price is relative to demand, but we may consider staying in Dublin and avoid staying in Bray for that price and quality of this hotel room.
The staff is great. The rooms are neat and the area is perfect. Only one issue came up with the taxes of the hotel charge were 200.00 extra. But that’s something internally between the hotel and Expedia and I was able to get it looked at on my end. All was well. Great people. Most importantly they were kind and generous.
Across the street from the ocean. At the end of the street, walking distance about 12 min from train. Many restaurants walking distance, including a bar/restaurant on the property.
This vintage hotel is charming with lots of character. Great views. Family run and very kind people.
Would recommend for sure!!!
Service was friendly and helpful. Location and view was fantastic. Room is very small, but we knew that going in. Raj was very kind. Food available in resteraunt below hotel was great!
Possibly the most unwelcoming check in I’ve ever had! After 12 hrs of travelling to get there the check in was laborious, unfriendly and inefficient.
We chose the place as we had an interest in Oscar Wilde…….. I doubt if any of the staff had heard of him or even cared about the history of the place.
Information had to be extracted about hotel facilities. Breakfast didn’t start until 8!and we needed an early start each day.
Parking at the hotel cost more for residents than if we parked on the road outside!
