More like a B&B experience than a hotel

Zou deze niet weer kiezen tenzij het opgeknapt wordt.
Pros:

Lag in een rustige omgeving.
Ontbijt was prima/goed.

Avond eten viel mee, niet alles op de kaart was op voorraad.

Cons:

Alles is gedateerd, de kamers moeten geüpgraded worden.
Bed was beetje gammel, oude beschadigde linnenkast.
In het hotel lag overal vloerbedekking, zelfs in het restaurant. Stoel aanschuiven was lastig.
De badkamer was wel opgeknapt alleen op het plafond veel schimmel, de ventilator zat vol stof en het rook muf.

Bij aankomst in het hotel moest je voor inchecken bellen maar beide nummers pakten niet op. Toen kwam iemand achter de bar weg om te helpen.

A friendly traditional hotel in a village superbly places for exploring the area
Pros:

The Loch Shiel is a traditional hotel and also serves as the village pub, so the atmosphere is friendly and social. The staff were relaxed and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a spectacular view of the loch and hills, and was very comfortable. The food was generally good, and the menu sensibly small but varied. Acharacle’s situation is unrivalled for exploring Ardnamurchan, Sunart and Moidart.

Cons:

A few things seemed a bit neglected, for instance opening the bedroom windows was erratic, the curtain needed re-hanging and the shower shield needed re-attaching to the bath. Discovering the breakfast menu and ordering one’s choices depended on who was serving.

Pros:

great location, good value, friendly staff.
Stayed here previously and has improved in many respects.

Cons:

The sample menu on website, was far more adventurous than the reality. It was to be honest basically, burger, fish and chips and a curry type menu.
Breakfast service could be arranged a bit better, no saucers for cups or jugs for milk and am afraid sachets of nescafe just don't cut it..
To be fair I gather the team there are new and they are trying and am sure will continue improving.

La localisation et le charme des lieux. Ancien hôtel, à la décoration authentique. Ambiance garantie!
Personnel sympathique et serviable.
Ouverture du petit déjeuner malgré notre départ très précoce (7h).
Literie confortable.

Équipements un peu vieillissants (douche, toilettes)...
Petit dejeuner très simple.

Comfortable stay in a very decent hotel and location
Pros:

I really enjoyed my stay at the Loch Shiel hotel - the ride on my motorcycle to get there was fantastic, the location is just excellent. My room was fine, a little old fashioned in some respects but that is not a criticism - it's a positive statement, I like to stay in different places and this was a comfortable stay with a comfortable room.

The staff were friendly and parking for my bike was fine outside the hotel - it's in a very rural place and it all felt safe and secure.

Food was good at the hotel with a decent menu choice and reasonable prices. There was live music on the night I stayed there (a Celtic music group) and it was superb and felt like a very 'authentic' experience.

I'd be happy to stay there again if travelling that way.

Lieber nicht, wenn es nicht sein muss!

Das Zimmer war sehr eng und das Bett recht klein. Außerdem gab es wieder nur eine Decke zum Zudecken für 2 Personen. Die Handtücher und der Badvorleger waren ausgefranst. Ein Kissenbezug hatte einen Riss. Spinnweben im Zimmer und Bad. Tapete löste sich teils von der Wand. Das Frühstück bestand ausschließlich aus abgepackten Waren. Toastbrot zum selbst aus der Tüte fummeln. Kaffee musste man sich selbst "erstellen" aus heißem Wasser und löslichem Pulver (!!!).
