We had a wonderful visit at Hotel Aak in June! The hotel is super cozy and cute. We loved the meals in the dining room where we got to meet other travelers and connect over wonderful food. It was also very convenient to have an electric car charger onsite for our rental car. Thank you for having us!
What should have been a joyful birthday celebration for my son turned into a ruined weekend. The hotel handled everything unprofessionally, charged my card multiple times without authorization, and still has not refunded the full amount. Instead of relaxation, we faced stress, confusion, and wasted hours fixing problems that never should happen at a hotel of this class. Even breakfast was disappointing, with a poor selection and frozen berries.
A lovely hotel in a picturesque location. The owners and staff were wonderful; lighting candles for the sauna, preparing delicious food, and even bringing us our bags when we mis-timed our touring/catching a train. Would highly recommend.
The Hotel Aak is situated in the mountains and is a fabulous find! The room was gorgeous - spacious with a terrific view! The staff were extremely friendly, professional and accommodating making us special meals for breakfast and dinner at the hotel! Special thanks to Florian, Charlotte and Hayden!
Very overpriced. Over $600 for one night stay. Not worth half that amount
Excellent gourmet dinner
Snack , aperitif and breakfast very average and bland.
Paper bag Lunch you fix yourself from left over breakfast!
Room had brightly lit EXIT sign inside it .. Lucky we had brought sleep eye masks
Lovely location but recommend to stay elsewhere
Relaxing, comfortable vibe with impeccable service. The room was lovely; Norwegian design meets hygge. We had forage, farm to table, three course dinner both nights. Both were top chef worthy. Breakfast was an individual buffet with traditional but very fresh homemade dishes!
Lovely 2 night stay at Hotel Aak. Bedrooms simply furnished but very comfortable beds and good bathroom. Dinner served at set time at long table so chance to chat with other guests. Food imaginative and delicious using local ingredients. Breakfast the best during our stay with individual selection of smoothies, yoghurt, berries and granola and scrambled eggs and bacon.
Staff were really friendly and anxious to ensure guests were well looked after and have a comfortable and relaxing stay.
I stayed here 2 nights in the first half of September. Arriving a bit late, I still got a warm welcome - the lady immediately gave me a small tour of the premises - get to know us right away! Breakfast the next morning was not buffet neither menu, but a small selection of delicious food served on a piece of wood. The hotel had showers and a nice sauna downstairs as well as a room for drying wet clothes (needed). Dinner was a set 4 course serving - very tasty. The hotel is quite small, preserving the style of a large and affluent single family home. The staff is very friendly and hospitality is definitely above what most hotels can offer these days. The place is at the upper range what regards price, but most likely justified!
A lovely independent hotel, in a historic building and lovely location although the main road is quite close. Very friendly staff and a great evening meal - even a sauna.
The evening meal is communal which we hadn’t realised but it was a great opportunity to chat to other guests which we enjoyed, the evening meal was excellent, tasty and well presented. The food was from local producers.
Our room was stunning – large with views down the valley and a very comfortable bed, however there was nothing to put our suitcases on, no clothes hanging space and only some very narrow shelves. There weren’t any hooks for towels in the bathroom and no shelf for toiletries in the shower.
Another problem was that the curtains didn’t cut out all the light at night and we weren’t used to sunrise just after 3am - blackout curtains would have helped a lot.
We had to specify what time we wanted breakfast - when you are on holiday you don’t always know when you’ll want to eat.
Breakfast was a change from the massive buffets you get in chain hotels – which made a pleasant change, but there wasn’t a huge choice and at that stage of the holiday I wasn’t used to eating cheese and cooked meats for breakfast.
A packed lunch was also included in the price, we were able to pack up some items from breakfast but that’s not all a packed lunch should be – this is probably translation issue as a packed lunch in the UK would be more than a couple of sandwiches made up at breakfast.
We hired e-bikes from the hotel on a day trip to Andalsnes, as we were doing a Norwegian Fjord cruise. The hotel staff were so helpful whilst arranging and making the booking by email, and the bikes were ready to go when we arrived on the day. The e-bikes were fabulous and a great way to see the local landscape.
A special mention for Emily who was SO helpful, welcoming and accommodating, she was just fantastic!
Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay at the hotel for longer as it was wonderful! Next time we would love to stay for a few days.
Don’t miss Hotel Aak! A highlight of our two weeks in Norway. The staff is so welcoming, the dinners and breakfasts are delicious - presented so nicely in a lovely and historic setting. Ask for Peter to be your guide for hike or a climb - we had an excellent day with him for our Romsdalseggen hike.
This is an exceptional hotel! The staff are above and beyond welcoming and friendly. They have two real chefs that make outstanding three course dinners every night at 7:30. Breakfast is delicious and beautifully presented. You can pick a 30 min time slot between 7-9:30am. There is afternoon snack and before dinner drink. There is a lovely garden to sit in outside with Mountain View’s as well as several comfy indoor seating areas. There is a sauna that I am sure would be nice in the winter. The hotel is outside of the busy town center but still close to everything. I would not even think of staying anywhere else in the area and can’t wait to come back!
Fantastic people, amazing warm hospitality and world class service. Rooms are very comfy and interior in the whole hotel is fantastic. The best breakfast ever had in a hotel with local produced food etc. We'll be back!
