Very safe place to stay in Windhoek
Pros:

The Weinberg is a very nice hotel behind security fencing. It is very comfortable, safe, clean. It has access to safe restaurants on property. I would definitely choose this again to stay in Windhoek. It is not in the city center (which is good).

Cons:

We had a dangerous situation that I was very upset about. We had arranged for the hotel to take us to the shuttle bus (Go2 Shuttle to Sossousvlei), and to pick us up on the return. The outbound transfer and the Go2 Shuttle were just fine and am glad we chose that option versus a personal car. However, upon the return, we arrived a little early. We did not have cell reception in Namibia (despite having AT&T who insisted they had coverage where we were). We used the shuttle bus drivers phone to call the hotel to have the driver meet us earlier. The driver never showed up. We waited to almost 2 hours at a gas station with no way to contact the hotel to follow up. A nice woman who spoke English stopped and asked us if we needed help and arranged a Go2 shuttle for us to get back to the hotel. We were very grateful, but this was extremely unsafe. When I arrived at the hotel I was furious. The front desk had no explanation of why the driver didnt show up.

Comfortable!
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, from fruit, juices and confectioneries. The staff were very attentive and did not have to look for them. Met all our needs in the restaurant. The check-in experience was superb and staff were helpful with valet service.

A great start to our Namibian trip
Pros:

Pictures of The Weinberg’s exterior put me in mind of a motel. The reality is quite different - The Weinberg is upscale by Windhoek standards. The hotel is located on the edge of town, on the side nearest to the international airport. As such, it’s very convenient for those just arrived or about to depart the country.

There are several restaurants in the compound in which the hotel lies. These attract a prosperous Namibian clientele. Soon after arrival, we had dinner at the Butcher Block Steakhouse, which was excellent. We were also able to withdraw cash in safety at an ATM located next to the restaurant.

Before dinner, we stopped off at the hotel bar. I was a little cynical about a bar situated only a few storeys from ground level being dubbed the “Sky Lounge”. However, the hotel’s elevated location means the bar has good views over the city, including at sunset. The only thing that marred the experience was a fellow English patron moaning loudly and at length about potholes (English potholes, not Namibian potholes). We changed table.

Staff members were very polite and helpful in guiding us with a few practicalities, as recent arrivals in Namibia. Breakfast was a pleasant, peaceful experience which made me almost reluctant to embark on the next stage of our journey - a long drive to Sesreim.

It was a very nice stay.
Pros:

Lovely rooms; convenient to airport; good restaurant. Staff were very helpful, including offering to change the room if necessary. Also, the parking attendant fixed a problem with our car. Dinner was lovely.

Cons:

Did not know the family rooms had a spiral staircase upstairs which was difficult for an elderly person to navigate. There was no way we could figure out how to completely shut off the bathroom light and it was annoying.
