A great start to our Namibian trip
Pros:

Pictures of The Weinberg’s exterior put me in mind of a motel. The reality is quite different - The Weinberg is upscale by Windhoek standards. The hotel is located on the edge of town, on the side nearest to the international airport. As such, it’s very convenient for those just arrived or about to depart the country.

There are several restaurants in the compound in which the hotel lies. These attract a prosperous Namibian clientele. Soon after arrival, we had dinner at the Butcher Block Steakhouse, which was excellent. We were also able to withdraw cash in safety at an ATM located next to the restaurant.

Before dinner, we stopped off at the hotel bar. I was a little cynical about a bar situated only a few storeys from ground level being dubbed the “Sky Lounge”. However, the hotel’s elevated location means the bar has good views over the city, including at sunset. The only thing that marred the experience was a fellow English patron moaning loudly and at length about potholes (English potholes, not Namibian potholes). We changed table.

Staff members were very polite and helpful in guiding us with a few practicalities, as recent arrivals in Namibia. Breakfast was a pleasant, peaceful experience which made me almost reluctant to embark on the next stage of our journey - a long drive to Sesreim.

It was a very nice stay.
Pros:

Lovely rooms; convenient to airport; good restaurant. Staff were very helpful, including offering to change the room if necessary. Also, the parking attendant fixed a problem with our car. Dinner was lovely.

Cons:

Did not know the family rooms had a spiral staircase upstairs which was difficult for an elderly person to navigate. There was no way we could figure out how to completely shut off the bathroom light and it was annoying.

Finest Hotel in Windhoek
Pros:

This is the best hotel in Windhoek. Beautiful courtyard, impeccably clean rooms, wonderful restaurants, fantastic spa — this hotel has everything you could want in a city hotel. I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Windhoek. But the best part of all is the staff all of them are extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, genuinely friendly, and despite the fact the hotel is extremely busy it will go out of their way to assist you. I can’t recommend the Weinberg enough!

Petty hotel
Pros:

The hotel does not live up to its name. We entered the hotel room from which we were changed. We should originally be in a different room, but apparently the guests before noticed that the AC wasn’t working and they moved us to the one where AC wasn’t working. We called someone to help us. It took 30 minutes. Nobody came. We came to the lobby afterwards and then finally a person came and then after a long while he could fix it more or less. The hinge was still broken. The lobby is completely understaffed with one person who was constantly on the phone calling rooms or idk what. The breakfast buffet was a disaster also. The only things that you could get were some Jogurt (which was empty) and maybe some cornflakes. If you wanted to go and grab some fruits you had to genuinely order them Bakery-Style. I ordered a Rooibos tea and had to ask 7 times to get a cup for the tea. The breakfast bowl also took 45 min to arrive, despite it being a simple dish. The pool is there but you can’t use it unless you pay, which I found very petty. The hotel probably has a management issue, or else I can’t explain it. When we first arrived inside the hotel, we waited a while to check in, the key cards didn’t work, and after a while we chose to put the suitcases in the rooms ourselves. My sister wanted to get a cake from the breakfast buffet, but they informed her that you need to pay extra for it. Typical this petty hotel. After the AC worked the rooms weren’t that bad. The bathroom was quite nice.

Pros:

My second time there, really really good place. Haven't stayed long enough to emphasise small things, the staff is great, location is great, etc.

Cons:

Communication on booking could be a bit more responsive but at this stage, not a train smash.

An Ideal First Night After a Long Flight
Pros:

We stayed at The Weinberg Hotel for one night at the beginning of our two-week, self-planned honeymoon through Namibia. It was our first stop after landing in Windhoek and made for a great introduction to the country.

Our flight arrived around 10 a.m., which is a bit of an awkward arrival time since most hotels in Namibia don't check guests in until around 2 p.m. The team welcomed us, stored our luggage, and pointed us toward Olivia's for lunch. It was an excellent first meal in Namibia—fresh, well-prepared, and a nice place to relax before heading into Windhoek for a few hours of sightseeing.

When we returned, our room was ready. It had a comfortable bed, a spacious bathroom, and a lovely balcony. The hotel also surprised us with sparkling wine and macarons to celebrate our honeymoon, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated.

That evening, we stopped by the Skyview Bar for a glass of wine before dinner elsewhere. The views over Windhoek were lovely, and the heaters made it comfortable to sit outside after sunset.

Breakfast the next morning was very good. There was a nice selection of fresh fruit and continental options, along with made-to-order hot breakfast. Our server, Old John, was especially warm and welcoming.

Overall, The Weinberg was exactly what we were looking for after a long international flight: clean, comfortable, welcoming, and well located. We'd happily recommend it as a first stop before heading out to explore the rest of Namibia.
