The rooms were decent, though looked small. Bathroom kinda small too. The floor was tiled and cold. However, the facility had parking for traveller with vehicles. Breakfast, not buffet. Clean and secure environment. Friendly workers.
It's a decent enough place, I found it quiet and clean enough. Bed isn't super comfortable, the breakfast was survivable for two mornings (though just instant coffee). I at in the restaurant one night and it was actually the best bit of the hotel.
You won't suffer, nor are you likely to really enjoy it. It's just a solidly average place.
The location is good however with the mechanics just outside, it is quite noisy during the day.
The underground parking area is very poorly lit. I didn't realize that there was an elevator until after I had climbed many stairs to get to the lobby. Later when I tried to take the elevator to the parking to get my luggage from my car, I discovered that there was construction work being done just outside the elevator doors and the door was locked into the parking garage. Every time I needed to get to my car, a hotel employee had to accompany me in order to unlock the door. (I was later told the door is locked for security since it could be accessed from outside the hotel.
Check-in was slow due to the fact that I was moved from the original room that I had been given (because the mosquito net had started to come down from the ceiling) to another room.
The 2nd evening of my stay, the sink (in the main bedroom) sprung a leak. I reported it to the receptionist who sent someone to look at it. A bucket was placed under the sink but it had to be wedged between the wall and a pipe. In the night, the bucket dislodged. When I awoke, my room was "flooded". A solution to the leaking sink was to have moved me to the room directly across the hall.
In spite of these inconveniences, the staff were very helpful in trying to assist me.
Breakfast was disappointing offering little choice of options. I did however enjoy the other meals that I had.
This does seem a rather negative review, but I would recommend this hotel -- probably better than some other options in Eldoret town.
It is not expensive but more expensive than a "buddet hotel" in Eldoret.
The rooms were good, clean and well equipped, the TV was fully functional.
On the catering side of it I didn't enjoy any of the meals we had dinner which was a buffet but nothing exciting about it, breakfast was so stale n dry however there is room for improvement.
Room service was so quick and they have friendly staff members. Thanks will consider staying at the hotel any time I visit Eldoret.
Located within town, Winstar has the potential to be a very good business hotel. Stayed here 1 night. The food from the restaurant is tasty, staff was friendly both at reception and the restaurant and wifi at the restaurant was good. However this was a different case when I went back to the room - wifi there was showing as available but wouldn't connect, yet I had asked for a room with best possible reception. The room was basic but better care was needed - the paint in the bathroom was peeling. The water from the shower wouldn't drain in hours.
I have stayed there on several business trips. Nice rooms especially delux. Standard rooms might not be the best especially because the mattress is not very comfortable.their pan fried fillet is my favourite food. Rates are quite affordable. Staff are friendly especially the bar attenders.
I was surprised to find a decent hotel on the street that Hotel Winstar is on, the place is well maintained and well coordinated colourwise. The room rate they gave me was pretty good, the breakfast spread great and the staff helpful...
but
I felt the food at lunch and dinner was a bit pricey given the location of the hotel and what they had on offer (though I do recommend their vegetable salads; very fresh);
my bathroom sink drain was rusted (and the place has been in business for less than a year?!);
I woke up on the day I was to check out to find there was no water in my room, and had the inconvenience of asking for another room to go shower in (I wish they had told me that there was a problem with the overhead tank when they found out the evening before and asked me to move to a room where the water wouldn't run out by morning)
and
my mosquito net canopy could not totally close so mosquitoes got in, and being a light sleeper, the buzzing woke me up and I had to hunt the mosquitoes down before I could get back to sleep.
But, all in all, I think it is great value for the price, though I will check carefully that my mosquito net canopy can fully close before I take a room next time....
If you are looking for a great accommodation facility in Eldoret and North Rift in general, this is the place. Good staff, quiet clean rooms, great food......and much much more. @ Hotel Winstar, you get pocket friendly and personalized service as and when you request. Keep the spirit!
Winstar hotel is the place to be in the North Rift. I liked the rooms, the food, the staff. The hotel is good.Iwould recommend to anyone who has no choice or preference. Kudos to the management and staff
Let me start with the good things about this place. Its people. The employees have exceptional customer service. From the security guys checking guests at the entrance, to the receptionist to the managers and supervisors; these people are very pleasant and warm. Customer service displayed here is up the top. The food was good although some work needs to done to improve breakfast.
Now to the negatives. Trying to find sleep was a challenge here because there were so many footsteps and chatter on the corridors at night. This hotel is in a section of town with many mechanics, garages and work shops so the noise level during the day can be irritating.
Now to the worst about this hotel. The drainer in the sink was rusted. As if that wasn't an issue when I opened the tap to brush my teeth brown colored water gushed out, meaning the tap was also rusted. But the worst thing about this hotel is the panoramic CCTV camera's that peer through window on top of the door and right into the room. Yes!! You better believe it!! These people are able to view everything that happens in your room.
That is the worst mistake anybody can make in the hotel industry.
I dint think such places exist in Eldoret town. My first experience at this place was awesome. Their food was delicious and to spice it all, my night in their rooms was one of the best experience i have ever had in a hotel. Kudos Winstar you have learnt a lot from the best hotels in Coast!!
I really enjoyed my experience at Hotel Winstar. It has fully furnished rooms that are clean and appealing. Customer service is great with their friendly personnel. I really enjoyed the service from their waiters in their bar. They had a welcoming smile to greet all guests. Drinks are served immediately they have been ordered. I would go back to Hotel Winstar whenever am in Eldoret.
