The hotel offers good value. The staff was friendly and didn't measure efforts to give information or attend requests. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
There’s was no one at the front desk when we wanted to check in. Just a phone number to call. Extremely inconvenient for tourists. We Walked had to walk, in the rain, to the tourist information office and get the lovely lady at the office to call the hotel. However, even she couldn’t get through, the number just rang and rang. By luck, after the 3 attempt of walking past the hotel and checking the front desk a lady was there to let us in. Later that night we went out for and came back, @ 8pm to a dark unlit hotel. All the lights were off. The hotel sign and the hallway lights. It felt like they also turned off the heat. We later discovered the hallway lights were on a timer, the trick is, you have to find the small button in the dark. Not very welcoming at all, and downright creepy imo. Thankfully we didn’t get locked out because I’m not sure we would be able to get find anyone to help us. Finally, The bed was pretty uncomfortable. Wouldn’t want to stay there for more than one night. There are plenty of other hotels in Bacharach.
Bizarre situatie!!!!
During check-in, the reception personnel said that we don’t have a booking. I explained to him then that we have a reservation through Expedia and showed him all the reservation emails. He does not seem interested and keeps on telling us that we can have the room for 40 euros and that the room rates for that day are as high 85 euros. I politely said that I would call Expedia and get back to him. So we went out and contacted Expedia. Expedia then promised to contact the hotel for my behalf. So I went back and asked if everything is sorted out the guy just said, ” would like the room or not, you have the keys right. ” A very rude personnel on a hotel lobby hotel. The hotel itself is very old and needs a lot of repair and the rooms too. The breakfast is okay.
Overall a very poor experience. The room was dowdy with very old poor quality furnishings. The shower room was tiny and very old. Bed was uncomfortable. The breakfast was extremely basic and, to top it all, there was a written instruction to clear our own table! We paid €125 through Expedia for one night. The worst value we have ever had in a hotel anywhere. The town of Bacharach was, however, beautiful. Our advice is to visit the town but to stay elsewhere.
Good location. Service was good. We arrived early and they allowed us to store our bags until our room was ready. Nice breakfast. Only negative, our room was facing the road and it was loud.
