Hahndorf Old Mill Motel

Stayed 1 night, last minute booking. Great location & bed comfortable. Our room was at front of Hotel facing main street, so very noisy from passers by/traffic. Room needs an upgrade, peeling paint, big chunk missing from dressing table top, scruffy looking furniture. The bathroom was nice as think it was new with a powerful shower. Corridors unkempt with litter lying around, marked walls & doors and threadworn carpets.

Where do we start… our teens needed a central location with varying things on. One teen just wanted to watch the footy on channel 7 on his birthday. We went out for tea then settled in. We had every channel except 7. When we went to enquire we were given some lame excuse as to why they couldn’t get channel 7. They offered to put it on in the bar but that’s it. No apologies, nothing. Maybe advertise that you can’t get all the channels. Make it clear. Also poor signage couldn’t work out how to check in, have to do this in the pokies room. Teens can’t go in there.
Everything is tired, worn, not worth the money. Don’t stay here or eat here not worth wasting hard earned money. We left and didn’t even stay the night, they didn’t even ask why we are leaving or offer any refund or nothing.

Motel style - ( actually we had chalet but inside were rooms.
Oldish building- interesting German town. Lots of nearby cafes and restaurants and nice to walk.
Aircon was pointing at bed so i found i got cold and turned it off then two hours later woke hot and turned it back on- Not best design

We had a room in the original building overlooking the main street. It was small, clean, comfy and all we needed. Checkin was in the gaming room, not my cup of tea, but had no problems with it. Didn't eat at the hotel restaurant because there are lots of interesting options within staggering distance. Parking off street was plentiful, which is a good thing because the town is very busy on weekends.

Appears they have a Special most nights. Thursday is Steak & Red Wine night for $35 pp. Excellent value and the steak was very good. Even after a big lunch at The Lane Vineyard, I still managed to eat the whole thing. Special mention to “James”, the young bartender and waiter. A very impressive young man, very welcoming, friendly, and always displaying a positive attitude, even under pressure. You can’t teach that stuff !!

Great place to stay overnight, easy to walk to restaurants and shops, accommodation tucked away behind the carpark so nice a quiet at nighttime

Room was basic but comfortable. Walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbours snore. Convenient location to shops and restaurants.

Enjoyed a lovely overnight stay during a long weekend at The Old Mill. Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a seamless check in and check out process.

Property (accommodation) is "getting tired" - service (barely) okay. Better value available in Hahndorf.

State of rooms are terrible. Carpets worn out, furniture tired, lights broken etc.

Room unclean. Broken bedside light, broken tv remote, limited channels, dirty bedside tables, filthy carpet, dirty cups, loud unworkable bathroom fan, dirty mirrors, thin towels. Holes in walls.

Stayed up stairs, very very noisy music till 4am across the road plus a bright spot light through the window.

Not the busiest of places for a meal, but that means you get more personal service and it is worth it. The food was excellent and the steins come in 500ml o 1000ml. Authentic Baufbrau Munich beer!!!

Obviously its old, since the whole building was old.
Everything worked well, nice and quiet, just a little "faded" and worn.
Personally, it was part of the charm - it felt like a real old fashioned room.
