Loved it here, great value. Superb location, people on desk were lovely and the cafe / bar downstairs has a nice atmosphere. Beach opposite is amazing and behind the hotel is the old town.
Great location, great value. Arrived to start the Camino so stayed 2 nights. The front desk woman was incredibly helpful and nice. The a/c worked perfectly and the water was hot. The cafe on the ground floor was very convenient to always have a cup of coffee or wine available. Perfect location on the harbor with the rooms on end sharing harbor views. I would recommend to anyone for the value.
One request- a few extra pillows would be nice :)
I was apprehensive about this place, considering some of the negative reviews I had read, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff, comfortable room, great location, and A/C worked beautifully. Breakfast is served in a restaurant open to the public, so they can’t offer a buffet like some of the other hotels on the Camino, but it was more than adequate.
Stayed here for 2 nights while walking the Portuguese Coastal Camino. The location is excellent, lots of nice restaurants near the hotel. The front desk staff was excellent and very attentive. The breakfast was more than adequate and I had enough left over for my lunch! I needed a taxi transfer back to the hotel after my day of walking and Beatrice not only handled the call but offered to have us email her 5 days down the road when we would be doing another transfer! The room was quiet and had plenty of room. I would definitely stay there again.
I was not very happy with the stay in this hotel. The walls are paper thin und the noise from the bars and restaurants in the vicinity was too much in the room. The room itself was in a poor state (it hasn’t seen fresh paint in decades). Toilet and sink were loose (not dangerously, but very annoying). Breakfast was a voucher for a few limited items (croissant, juice, coffee). The quality of the food was not bad, though. All in all I can not recommend this hotel.
The hotel is in a wonderful location if you want to be very near to the beach and just a few steps from lots of restaurants, cafes, shops and the harbor. It is a lovely place, very clean and pleasant. The front desk staff are gracious and welcoming. BUT: it is very noisy, especially noticeable after sunset through sunrise. Neither the white noise of the air conditioner nor the heavy curtains helped enough. People were singing and yelling (happily) to each other regularly on the street below our window between midnight and 4:30 am and then the street cleaners equipment started up at 5 pm. BRING EARPLUGS if you are considering staying here.
The room was OK, with a separate shower in the bathroom. Balcony onto an old pedestrian way, which was very noisy all night. It was impossible to keep the noise out. Staff were good, but the breakfast was very poor with the staff insisting on serving each person individually which made the whole meal very very slow. This arrangement is very poor when you want to get back walking. The hotel did, however provide a sandwich to take with us. The hotel is right on the Camino but we do not recommend it. There are plenty of quieter hotels nearby.
Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant, starting with check-in which went smoothly thanks to Beatrice who provided excellent friendly service. She also recommended a great place for dinner nearby. Our room was basic but clean. Air conditioner works well, the bathroom is clean with a good shower. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is in an excellent location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Baiona and would stay at this hotel again.
The first hotel on our Camino walk was the worst. The room was poky and the breakfast next morning appeared to be given begrudgingly. Coffee or tea plus juice. Refills had to be paid for separately. The choice of food was a croissant or a slice of toast. We were glad to check out, start the Camino and leave the memory of the Anunciada behind us.
Stayed with 14 people on the Camino- hotel staff very helpful.
Breakfast staff very helpful and friendly.
Good rooms and hotel very centrally located.
Best hotel on our Camino from Porto to Santiago.
Lovely city with spectacular views.
Least comfortable bed we have slept on so far in walking the Camino. We failed to ask for two beds pushed together and instead had a lumpy uncomfortable double. Also had one of the rooms facing the plaza. Pretty noisy at night. And the raised bathroom shower stall with no lip to prevent water from flooding the bathroom and the hallway. And the rather stingy breakfast....
BUT, we found the staff to be friendly and hard working. They were also happy to give a double shot of coffee, and to substitute yogurt for one of the other ‘proscribed’ breakfast items. So not all bad. And Baione is a delightful town.
The place is charming and well located. It needs some maintenance.
We were walking the camino and stayed here three nights. Baiona was one of our favourite stops for a rest, a very pretty town right on the harbour. Our hotel was in the historic centre and you could walk through the connected bar/restaurant that fronted the harbour. So an excellent position.
The hotel itself was reasonable. However our room was small and depressing. It had lino, a dark timber bedhead and wardrobe and console. The double bed seemed small. The bathroom was so tight that we had to shuffle around each other. But it did have a welcome bath. We had to get assistance to get the heater to work in the bedroom, the one in the bathroom didn’t work at all. We also had to get the remote from reception for the air conditioner. The hairdryer was broken too.
But that was nothing when it came to our first night's sleep. Our room was facing the plaza and laneways, charming to look at but horrendous for noise, with revellers partying to 5am. Nothing we did could alleviate the racket and the next morning we looked and felt like zombies!
A discussion at reception first thing meant we were immediately transferred to another room. This one was much nicer, at the back of the hotel on a higher floor. It was sunny and bigger with a lovely large bathroom. It had big twin beds pushed together.
Like others have commented breakfast was pretty dismal : toasted rolls with jam, tea or coffee, fresh orange juice, then half a baguette with ham and cheese and a piece of fruit. The last two you could take for lunch, which was good really as most hotels guard their food just in case pilgrims dare to take some.
Staff were friendly and very helpful, and our Corujo taxi fare being paid by the hotel was not an issue.
Nice location, no views from the room. Staff not friendly or helpful. Breakfast of 1 drink either coffee or juice no refill. Croussint or toast, apple and a sandwich with 2 thin slices of meat.
A/C control is kept at the desk, set it on 17. Cooled the room but barely. Shower is good.
We were booked 2 nights in this hotel which included a prepaid taxi ride back from Corujo after hiking from this hotel in Bajona. When the taxi picked us up and brought us back to Hotel Anunciada the receptionist refused to pay the taxi. We had to pay twice!
For breakfast you are given a list of what you can have. Coffee or juice but not both. No refills on coffee. Croissant or toast. No eggs, no bacon, no sausage, etc. A half sandwich is brought to you with a piece of foil to take away. It has two thin slices of York on it. Nothing else.
I do NOT recommend this place for even a shower. Pilgrims stay away. No one should be treated this way!
We stayed here before we embarked on our Camino walk. The hotel is pefectly located in front of the sea and very close to the fort with its back directly at the old town. It basically is at the best location. Their staff were very friendly and have an elevator for higher rooms. The rooms were clean with good water pressure. This is definitely a great Hotel that we would stay again when visiting Baiona.
Baiona is a lovely town on the water, and Hotel Anunciada is directly facing the street. Sheila at the front desk was most pleasant and helpful, recommended "La Colegiata" restaurant which was delightful.
One issue was the shower and bathroom drains, which were not in the low spot in the room, which meant the shower drained into the bathroom, which then drained into the bedroom, all floor was tiled so no serious problem but plumbing work was poor quality.
Beds had a plastic cover, so were too hot to sleep, great location but...
This room was comfortable, clean and beautiful. The staff were very kind and helpful with information about where to buy walking poles, which was an immediate need. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the fresh orange juice. The only down side was the noise that came up from a nearby outdoor bar which continued until past 4 a.m.
