Anniversary Celebration
Pros:

Amazing! Hotel staff whet above and beyond to make our 27th Anniversary special. The extra perks provided by the staff at check-in and the overall ambiance of the hotel made it a great in town get away for the evening. We will be back, even if we don't stay the night, just for the atmosphere, food, and joy that it brought us. Side note: you must eat at Lazia and experience the amazing flare to Italian food that will make you wanting to go back again and again.

Dear Crossroads Hotel…I Miss You Already!
Pros:

A couple of my friends have been wanting to visit Kansas City to see the World War I museum. It was suggested that we stay at the Crossroads Hotel. We combined staying at the Crossroads Hotel with a visit to the museum. Both were excellent choices.

As soon as I entered the Hotel Lobby/Bar I knew it was going to be a very exciting place. The bar was vibrant and and the Lobby was in keeping with the history of the building, which was a Blatz bottling facility.

I checked in at the registration desk and was helped by Kelly. She was amazing, warm and friendly.

When I entered my room on the third floor, I was greeted with beautiful wallpaper, mirrored and paneled wardrobe, a chest of drawers and mirror as . Plenty of storage.

The bathroom was large and the shower was spacious and beautifully done. My king size bed was a four poster and very very comfortable. At the foot of the bed was a beautiful loveseat. On the opposite wall was a large screen TV above a cabinet of local treats and snacks as well as a refrigerator full of beverages. There was also a leather chair to accompany the round table where I could work. There was also plenty of lighting and plugs for my cell phone, computer, etc..

The Italian restaurant, Lazia, was also so beautifully appointed. I loved the whimsical chandelier. The servers were well-versed in all of the food and were able to answer all of our questions. We had appetizers, pastas and dessert. Her server took our entire order at once saying that he would be sure to space out the courses so that we were not rushed, he did not disappoint.

We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and Rike was an absolutely marvelous bartender. On one of our evenings out, we came back and enjoyed a woodfired pizza in the bar as well as chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Stella took good care of us.

When we first came into this hotel, it felt so welcoming with the open area Bar, which had stuffed sofas and chairs as well as a large rectangle bar. They also had game tables which added to the feeling that they wanted you to stay and enjoy yourself…so we did.

We also had time to visit the Percheron rooftop bar. Don’t miss out on the views of this amazing space. They have some very fine cocktails. The cocktail we ordered came in a decanter with smoke. How fun was that?!

Local artists hang there paintings and other things along the Lobby walls. This creates such a nice sense of community.

We spent three nights and four days and wanted to stay longer. I would recommend this hotel and its restaurants and Bar for all ages celebrations. We will definitely come back.

Trendy industrial style with fun bar nice touches in Crossroads area
Pros:

Adaptive reuse of building, style of the room and inform amenities, mini bar selection, lively bar with pool tables, roof top was closed during our visit, crossroads is a nice central location between downtown and plaza areas, near transit, clean, convenient, a few restaurants/cafes/bars in easy walking distance.

Cons:

Some furnishings a bit warn, staff seemed disinterested, not overly helpful but things seemed to be running smoothly. No indication that rooftop would be closed on website.

Beautiful Design, Missed Opportunities
Pros:

wanted to love this hotel because the architecture, artwork, and design are beautiful. Unfortunately, the service never matched the setting.

From the moment I arrived, I experienced repeated service failures. At check-in, I stood at the front desk without acknowledgment while the associate finished a phone call, and when he finally addressed me, it was with, “Did you need something?” rather than a welcoming greeting. I reported a flickering light in my room and was told a technician would arrive at 9:00 a.m., but after waiting until 12:30 p.m., no one came. I also paid for late checkout, yet housekeeping repeatedly knocked on my door despite being informed of my late checkout, making it impossible to relax.

During breakfast, I asked for a bottle of still water and was told to leave my meal unattended and retrieve it from the front desk myself. Throughout my stay, I repeatedly observed staff focused on their personal phones instead of engaging with guests.

What disappointed me most was not one isolated incident but the consistent lack of hospitality. Beautiful hotels are remembered for how they make guests feel, and unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed rather than welcomed.

Comfortable bed, otherwise on the poor side of mixed
Pros:

The bed was comfortable, which is our primary requirement of any hotel. But … no coffee or teamaking facilities in the room because “we like to force you to socialise” (according to the ‘welcome’ speech from the receptionist at check in). Err, no, I’m the customer and you shouldn’t be ‘forcing’ me to do any such thing; I want my first coffee of the day in my night clothes in my room, not in your cavernous industrial reception space. And when I get back to my room late afternoon after a hard day playing tourist I want to take off my shoes and relax with a cup of coffee or tea … oh dear, not at The Crossroads I can’t. All that apart, a very mixed bag: housekeeping poor (no show one day, absurdly late another, lots of things missed), valet parking excellent, hostesses at rooftop bar challenging rather than welcoming, breakfast service ok. Bottom line: not recommended.

Great Hotel
Pros:

We were celebrating my 60th birthday with a unique staycation and chose to stay at this hotel. Booking the room was easy, and they acknowledged that it was my birthday upon check in. We loved that they had valet parking available making it so much easier. The room was spacious - even had a little couch - and we loved that they left much of the original structure. The pressure in the shower was fantastic (we all know that's hit or miss when staying at a hotel). The Percheron Rooftop bar was fun but really for a younger crowd and the XR lobby bar was better for us. It was clean, so we were very comfortable. It is on the pricey side, but if you're wanting a unique experience, it does provide that. We took an Uber to a small local restaurant for dinner, so I can't speak to the restaurant in the hotel, but it did seem very busy when we were sitting at the lobby bar. Other than the Percheron, the noise level was just fine. We were able to go to sleep when we wanted and were not woken up in the night.

I did try to get a latte to go the morning we checked out but the person working the XR lobby bar barely even acknowledged me. Even after I asked her if someone was working at the bar (they do offer breakfast), she just answered that she was working but didn't follow-up to apologize or ask me what I wanted. I stood there another 2 minutes without her even looking at me, so I walked away. I did provide this feedback to the hotel, so hopefully they spoke to her. At a high end hotel, I expect stellar service and being ignored just rubbed me the wrong way.

Not a good experience
Pros:

Really wanted to like the hotel. The staff is great. Unfortunately I believe they were completely overwhelmed with the number of events happening in the hotel, and were not equipped to handle the load. Food service took over an hour for all meals. One of the meals in the formal restaurant was not able to be consumed. Completely ruined with an explosion of pepper. Room smelled horrible and was dark. Elevator was broken.

Best Anniversary Ever!
Pros:

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Crossroads Hotel and it was a perfect 24 hours. From the moment you step in to the hotel, you know you are somewhere special. The staff are incredibly welcoming and treated us like VIPs during our stay. The food at Lazia was delicious and generous ( the handmade pasta, the lobster, the citrus tart, 10/10!) We went up to catch the views on the rooftop and definitely will be back with out of town guests for the view and the tapas. The room was luxurious, quiet and comfortable, perfect for sleeping in. Definitely recommend the rancheros tamales for breakfast. All in all it was a magical time and we hope to be back soon!!

Very cool contemporary hotel
Pros:

This is a gorgeous hotel. Very cool and contemporary. Love the decor, terrific bar with craft cocktails, one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, and great location in the arts district. This is a very convenient location. We were able to walk to dinner, to Union Station and could have walked to the WW1 Museum had we stayed an extra day. We took a 20 day car trip throughout the trip and I think I enjoyed this hotel the best.
