Cheap, convenient - but cold in winter!
Pros:

The Phoenix hotel is low budget, basic and traditional. It is colourful and very conveniently located in the centre and close to the Donkin, yet not noisy. We were there in late winter, and would not recommend it for that time of year, because our room was very stark (television, but no water glasses) and had no heating whatsoever. A minor inconvenience was that the hotel doors were locked until the restaurant opened at 2 p.m., and we had to summon one of the staff if we wanted to go out before that time - which we did, because no breakfast was available. Probably fine in summer if you're running on a low budget!
