One of the best hotel experiences we had in Japan
Pros:

This historic hotel is well-preserved, elegant and lovely. We felt like we were in the middle of a forest but "downtown" is just a ten-minute walk away. The service is one of the best we've had in Japan - and we've stayed in many different hotels. We had unforgettable meals - Tea time at the Cafe Terrace with their famous royal milk tea and apple pie, dinner at the dining room and breakfast too.

Special note of thanks to the lady in reception who took care of our check-in. She was so accommodating. Everyone had been hospitable and supportive. 5⭐️ service

The rates are on the higher scale but it's understandable for such an important property.

改修前の玄関付近の雰囲気が変わったのは残念な気がしました。

A relaxing, cozy stay.
Pros:

The entire experience of staying at Mampei was exceptional. The rustic feels that the hotel eludes, the impeccable service from the moment you enter the hotel, and the cozy, welcoming vibes from the hotel room really impressed me throughout the stay. While the hotel has been around for a long time, the facilities are well-maintained and feels rather new. The room and common area are clean and have a nice fragrance.

Cons:

The only complaint I have is the location, since it's recommended that you drive to access the hotel. But staying in Karuizawa, most people should be driving to visit the different sites, so this is unlikely to be a problem.

O hotel é muito bonito, muito bem presevado e possui um ar histórico incrível. As instalações são muito confortáveis. Limpeza perfeita. Os ambientes são muito agradáveis. O café, o salão de jantar, o bar. Ótimo atendimento no restaurante. O traslado da estação ao hotel também foi confortáveil e conveniente.
