L'emplacement
We spent a wonderful holiday in Guadeloupe with 3 accommodations. This was the second place we stayed.
From the moment we arrived, the calm, tranquility and beauty of the garden delighted us. The view from the room was also fantastic with a fantastic view of Les Saintes. The architecture of the colonial house is magnificent. Atypical accommodation in the middle of a large garden. Well placed between Soufrière and the Carbet waterfall. Friendly staff. Calming atmosphere, a beautiful interlude of serenity, the calm and beauty of the garden, the view of Saintes from the room and from the pool.
I was accommodated on the ground floor in the main house in 2 rooms( the price could have been reduced as we only used 1 room.). The room was spacious, big bed but no soundproofing (you could hear everything going on upstairs, you could hear the neighbor in the toilet, you could hear the rain), the floor creaked at every step(at night you couldn't move in the room because you woke up the whole house), old fashion bathroom with very worn towels. And the pool was also using very worn out towels.
Personally, I was under the expectations I had for this location, which cost over 425€ per night with breakfast( always the same: 2 pieces of cheese, ham, 1 roll (impossible to have an egg, decent cappuccino, frozen pastries and very greasy). The breakfast and dinner room is dark and gloomy with unpleasant white lighting and plastic windows.
The accommodation and service does not live up to the price charged.
I asked why nothing is being done to rectify these issues (which can be fixed quickly) and the answer was: if it's going as it is, why change anything?
This was our first stop on our Guadeloupe vacation, and we received the warmest welcome from Christine, who was wonderful.
The room was of great size, spotlessly clean, and has an authentic feel. The bed was massive and super comfy. We appreciated the coffee machine and fridge in the room.
The breakfast is a continental offering and you certainly don't need more. We were offered fresh fruit, deliciously warm pastries and bread, accompanied by cheese, local jams, and either a cold meat or fish depending on the day. Breakfast is served with tasty fresh juice and of course tea and coffee. Each morning the breakfast was slightly different, so it didn't get boring.
The hotel and bungalows are surrounded by lush green gardens that are very well kept. There is an idyllic infinity pool next to the main house, and a lovely lounge area for you to relax in.
Due to its remote location the hotel is peaceful and quiet, and you can relax undisturbed. It is easily reachable by car, with plenty to see and do in the local area. We did hiking and canyoning in the waterfalls, following the recommendation from Christine.
Christine and Michael are superb hosts. Christine is always more than happy to help with anything you need, and Michael is a skilled chef who prepares the delicious evening meals.
We stayed at three different places in Guadeloupe and this was by far our favourite. Highly recommended!
Incredible view! Very friendly and helpful hosts, delicious breakfast and dinner (optionally)
