A good hotel for non-work-related stays, with excellent location, though some issues in detail.
Pros:

Location in Porter Square is directly on Mass Ave next to Porter Sq T-stop which gives easy-access to the many local restaurants, cafes, stores, and grocery markets, as well as the red-line T stop itself (and buses, and commuter rail too if needed). The walk to Harvard Square down Mass Ave is pleasant and takes about 10-15 mins. Even though my room directly faced the street it was light, airy, and quiet with no noise issues at all. The staff were helpful, friendly, and efficient. The gym is excellent, among the best I have experienced at a mid-priced hotel. The bed and pillows were high-quality and comfortable, and the bathroom and shower in my room quite spacious. The general condition of the rooms, their furnishings, and the common areas is excellent too.

Cons:

I experienced three issues, all affecting the usefulness of the hotel for work purposes. First the wifi was strong but intermittent, so much so that I needed to switch to a hotspot off my cell phone network. Second, the desk/table in the room is suspended from the wall and is of fixed height, but this height is way too high (by 8"-10" in I'd say), and I'm a 5'11" man. This is not helped by a desk chair that is too small, and not adjustable! So it was impossible for me to work at the desk, and I needed to sit on the bed to use my macbook. A final issue was with the strong AC (definitely needed at this time of year). The vents directly blow on the bed, and as the computer-controlled AC cycles on and off during the night it creates such gusts that it repeatedly woke me up. I resorted to turning it off completely and dealing with the increasing temperature and humidity as the night progressed.

Excellent hotel and location. Will stay again.

Fabulous location and friendly, helpful staff.

Cons:

The shower floor tile becomes very slippery when wet and could result in someone falling while taking a shower. A rubber tub mat would be very helpful.

Exceptional hotel in Porter, Cambridge MA. Staff is amazing and always available. Location is top just 1 minute away from the MBTA Porter station. I would recommend this hotel 300 times

Porter Square Gem !
Pros:

We booked this room in Porter Square for the weekend to see the tall ships. It is directly across from the MBTA stop. Parking was another option and very reasonable. Our car was safe in a lot next to the hotel with valet parking. We arrived early ( prior to 8 am ) and the desk person was very accommodating for storing our luggage and allowing us to park there for the day.
When we returned to the hotel early that first evening our luggage was already in our room. We didn’t have to pick it up from a storage room ourselves. I was surprised that they took this extra effort. Thanks
Our room was on the fourth floor facing the street but the place is obviously built with a good sound proofing. Super clean. Nice bedding. Shower is hot with good pressure.
My husband used gym facility which was well equipped. There are very nice facilities for meetings with microwaves and refrigeration but we were on holiday and didn’t need to work.
The hotel is in a great area with coffee shops and supermarket handy by. Very modern facility. Easy walk to Harvard Square. I wish we had more time to explore Porter Square.
Overall the staff was helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend the hotel. Anyone looking for a Boston accommodation would find this hotel a great find. 🍀

Cons:

Weather was hot and the room had very good AC unit which kept the room very cool. There was a sound that would come on intermittently for 6 seconds and then stop which was a tad annoying. I hesitate to mention this because I didn’t report the issue to the desk not being one to complain. However, I do like to be honest.
I am confident they would have addressed the issue. So my apologies.

Cons:

The AC in the room worked well but was weird in that a motorized hinge would open/close as it would cycle on and off, and a blue light comes on, too - which is slightly bright as you sleep. It seems like a trendy hip unit that is unnecessary.
