Food, staff, closeness to ski slopes
The rental skis were not very good at all
Localisation parfaite, personnels très réactifs et sympas.
Matériel de ski trop vétuste pour les confirmés.
From the warm greeting at check-in to the cozy atmosphere throughout, it’s the ultimate ski lodge. The breakfast and dinner services were a major highlight. The meals were absolutely delicious and offered a wonderful way to explore local cuisine. We particularly loved that they had local Shiga Kogen beer and local Snow Monkey sake available for purchase during dinner. It was a really nice touch that added to the authentic experience.
The facilities are top-notch. The public onsens are beautiful, spotless, and open 24 hours. This was a total lifesaver, especially since they allow you to use them even after checkout. Logistically, they’ve thought of everything. They provide seamless, highly organized bag storage for early arrivals or late departures. There is also a full rental shop onsite with access to everything from skis and boots to full outerwear and accessories. The ski lockers are equally well-maintained and easy to use.
We found the traditional Japanese futons incredibly comfortable and had a fantastic night's sleep.
Everything about our stay was amazing and we can’t wait to come back!
Small improvement opportunity would be to have larger and more fluffy pillows available. We found those included were quite small and hard.
夕食、朝食、美味しかった。もう少し品数や種類があれば良かった。
Location was ski in ski out, the onsen, badminton/ping pong court, and common TV lounge for bigger groups to gather after skiing. Each room was pre-allocated a table for dining and we could take our time in the dining hall so it felt very relaxing.
The futon was abit thin so we had to stack up 2 futons. The mattress and the pillow were very hard too. But that seems to be Japanese style so it’s down to personal bedding preference.
We really enjoyed this hotel. It’s ideally placed in the Shiga Kogen ski area. You can almost ski to the door in spring. It’s a 3m walk to the piste from which a large ski area is available on high season. Be warned if you come after March as the piste opening hours shift week by week. Some lifts only open once or twice a week and some areas are closed for the season. Hotel wise the Onsen was the best we experienced in 4 weeks of Japan. Hard to believe but this old skool
Onsen really was generous in space and classic in design. Our room was spacious - we opted for the Japanese style bedrooms with futons you have to prepare each day. You can get rooms with western style beds. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner. A highlight. The food for what’s essentially an all inclusive was great. The right mixture between local foods and European tastes. The hotel is definitely dates with a 90s feel but it all works and runs and the staff are mostly helpful.
The internal cafe is only open till 2pm. If you want to have a nice coffee or tea mid afternoon there isn’t really an option.
It’s a cozy, clean and nice hotel with pleasant staff especially Ms Saori. She could speak a little bit of Mandarin and was very helpful throughout our stay. Things that need improvement are the pillows which we find it a little too soft and low and secondly, perhaps change breakfast menu a bit more frequent will be perfect for long staying guests. The onsen facility was fantastic and we enjoyed shopping at the little convenient store at the lobby.
Location was great less than 100m to ski slope.
Food in buffet was luke warm at best, but this is how Japan does there buffet not a hotel issue have experienced this at a lot of Japanese hotels over the years just hard to get used too.
Western Beds were hard but we put futon on top to soften it up.
Best ski in and ski out, Full service, very friendly, great dinner buffet
Clean and tidy, great location and awesome staff. Fantastic buffet selection and comfy beds. We will be back!
Nothing
Hotel Ichinose was in the middle of the village near the ski slope and bus stop which was great to go to the snow monkeys etc. The staff were always very helpful. The tatami room was a very good size. You could rent ski gear there.
The hotel was quite old but well kept. The buffet food was a good selection but the food went cold quickly as the warming plates didn't work well enough. They really need a bain marie style serving system to keep the hot food hot as after a day in the snow you really want a hot meal.
