History behind it
There’s a modern building built next to the old hotel, which does not fit in
Great location, beautiful spot on Sognefjord. Historic hotel, great furnished rooms on display, good size and clean rooms, wonderful breakfast with a view to the fjord.
No minibar in the room, service a little slow for lunch in the balcony.
Sehr freundliches Personal.
Location and view
Small room , no equipment in room , no intertainment
Scenic, historic building
The “new” building does not fit with the old and has no ambience and the room was basic to say the least . It feels like a completely different hotel when staying in the new section so your overall experience is diluted
Prachtig hotel, mooie omgeving. Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
Niets
Location
It’s a very crowd place with lots of tourist busses
Location
You see the historical building and then you find out you are in the 1960’s Howard Johnson building.
Hier stimmt wirklich alles: Tolle Lage, freundliches Personal, ausgezeichnete Küche!
Gibt nichts 😊
the location had perhaps the best views of our entire trip. It was surreal and wonderful to eat breakfast and look out over the fjords. Quite Magnificent. We missed dinner but ate breakfast and it was wonderful. Plenty to eat. Did try the local cider from the cider huset and it was perhaps the best I had ever had. Room was comfortable and roomy with beautiful view. Hotel was literally steps away from the ferry dock so only had to walk about 50 meters with our luggage.
Nothing
Excellent property, great location
No short comings
Location was central. Room was clean and adequate. Staff came in each day to make the beds and change the towels.
It’s not a 4 star hotel. Either in terms of service or facilities.
Room was pretty basic.
Tea and coffee making facilities consisted of a kettle, sachets of instant coffee or earl grey tea and paper cups.
Breakfast was poor. Lots of things ran out and weren’t replaced. Fried eggs were cold. The staff made it feel hectic as they seemed overwhelmed (despite it being low season) and were physically running around the dining room clearing tables but then causing dirty cutlery / napkins / crockery to go flying all over the floor in their haste. Tea and coffee was supposed to be served to you but staff couldn’t keep up, so most people were sat without a drink for much of breakfast.
There is a lovely cosy bar that overlooks the fjord but it was closed. Instead the only bar available was shoe-horned into reception with no views. Service was poor - when we asked about the menu which was in Norwegian we were told by the barmaid that it was self explanatory. We ordered a large beer and then were told they only did small beers but we could get two of those.
Tea and coffee was available in a room adjacent to reception one day, then the next day they had an event on so the public areas weren’t accessible to us and tea and coffee wasn’t on.
It’s a telling sign when they don’t ask you at check out whether everything was ok with your stay…
Overall disappointing and we wouldn’t stay again.
