If you are reading this and thinking about doing a proposal at Post Ranch Inn, just do it!!

Post Ranch was literally the best hotel experience we've ever had, and it made our engagement so special. The property is unreal - I'd made some plans to leave the property over the course of the weekend, and we ended up just not leaving the property because it was so stunning!

Derek was exceptional and went above and beyond to make everything feel seamless, thoughtful, and special. He was incredibly helpful throughout the process. (The bench spot for the proposal also works really well - it was secluded and felt like our own private area.) The entire staff was amazing as well - really warm, attentive, and welcoming.

Post Ranch is one of those rare places that fully lives up to the hype and then exceeds it. We will definitely be back!!

We had never been to Big Sur and tend to gravitate toward higher-end, couples-oriented resorts. We've stayed at Hermitage Bay in Antigua, Kura in Costa Rica, and Sugar Beach in St. Lucia, and Post Ranch Inn compares extremely favorably to all of them — probably most similar to Hermitage Bay in terms of quality of service and atmosphere.

With that being said, my wife and I stayed at Post Ranch Inn for four days in mid-March. It was an exceptional experience. We stayed in one of the Northern Ocean rooms and had complete privacy. It also had 180-degree views of the ocean, which were just incredible. At night, it's so dark you can see the stars perfectly.

For activities, we hiked a little but also did yoga a couple of days, the very relaxing myofascial ball program, and the incredibly cool sound experience — sort of a combination of meditation and sound therapy. Absolutely incredible.
We ate three nights at the restaurant and the food was always good. I would have liked a slightly larger menu, but everything was excellent.

I noticed some people complain about the lack of modernity in the rooms, but they are absolutely perfect for the setting. They blend in naturally, much more so than any newer type of building would. Wi-Fi worked great, and there were no TVs to distract you. We had a soaking tub on our back deck and used it daily to watch for whales and just take in the beautiful ocean views.

The staff was incredible and always friendly. Be sure to take advantage of the Lexus loaner program.We used the Lexus convertible for an afternoon and drove to McWay Falls, then to Partington Cove, where we went through the tunnel to see where they loaded ships in the early 1900s. We also went to Pfeiffer Beach, which is absolutely incredible — although the drive on the narrow road back there can be a little harrowing at times. Very much worth it, but be sure to bring a jacket as it's quite windy.

Also, be sure to see Julia and take the farm tour. It was really cool, and we had her all to ourselves. We bombarded her with questions and she was great about it. Hearing her vision of what she wants the farm to be was quite cool.
Highly recommend, and we will be back.

One last thing — the pools were all heated to what seemed like 99 degrees, making it a piece of cake to get in. They were generally deserted, with no more than a couple of people there at a time.

Absolutely incredible experience. Purchased the engagement package and proposed to my fiance on Valentine’s Day on the property. Derek was amazing in helping me work out all the details and even helped with taking a video from his personal cell phone which was not included in the package. The property is beautiful and the entire weekend was magical. Highly recommend!

I have been to some of the nicest hotels and resorts around the world and Post Ranch Inn is still my favorite. The rooms, the service, the restaurant, the grounds, pools and views - they can't be beat. The rooms are pricey but the value is so there. You're not just staying in a room. You're having an experience when you stay at Post Ranch Inn. I look forward to my next visit. Big Sur is heaven and this is the sweetest slice.

Absolutely beyond description in every possible way. Totally stunning property, maintenance, service, offerings, top to bottom amazing.

So often luxury experiences are a total goof for people who want to feel rich. Post Ranch Inn made us feel special, and helped us appreciate how special the world can be.

Breathtaking location

Very creative buildings ...well placed up in trees ("tree houses or rather villas") or beach/cliff front overlooking the Pacific. Extremely well equipped with all amenities you might need for a stay.

Very friendly and helpful staff from the minute of arrival to settlgin into your room

Lots of things to do to explore around / on the property&estate (which is large).

The only downside and what I find questionable are the room rates...while the location and what it offers is very special it does not feel like it justifies a price tag during low season of over 3'000 USD/night (including taxes etc and excluding meals).

Breakfast selection and buffet is disappointing for a property at this price point.

Our two nights at Post Ranch Inn were absolutely amazing. It was a relaxing yet rejuvenating get away. Surrounded by nature, it felt like we were in a very sacred place.

The Post Ranch Inn team was so warm and welcoming and the service was exceptional. Morning yoga with Jade was one of the highlights of my stay. She took us on a visual journey that touched my heart and healed my soul.

Our dining experiences at Sierra Mar are unforgettable. It was always a feast for the eyes and the palate. We are still craving the abalone congee.

This is our second girl's trip to Post Ranch Inn. It's the perfect place for us to slow down, reconnect and really enjoy each other's company. We spend time talking late at night, laughing, dancing, sitting in the hot tub in the stormy rain, and celebrating our friendship, all in total privacy and serenity.

One of the highlights one of my stays was the morning yoga class, surrounded by nature. The instructor, Jade, was awesome. I never experienced a yoga class like this. It was incredibly peaceful and left me felling calm, centered, and deeply relaxed.

The staff is professional, accommodating, and ALWAYS smiling. Post Ranch Inn is not just a hotel; it's an experience of a lifetime.

Three of my closest girlfriends and I celebrated ten years of our special friendship here with two of the ocean side rooms. Big Sur, sacred land of the redwoods where the line between nature is invisible. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful location. Situated high on the seaside cliffs, our rooms had an expansive view of the vast, blue Pacific. A daily parade of whales went by everyday and the "real" world slipped away.

Post Ranch encourages a quite and calm atmosphere and my nervous system instantly leaned into this. Our rooms were spacious, well appointed (the most amazing mini bar is included), with iPads for music, tea kettles, teas, coffees, chilled Champagne upon arrival and a delicious Pinot to sip while watching our first sunset. I felt instantly cared for and this tone set the mood for the rest of our stay.

Everyone steward of the land we met during out stay was genuine, thoughtful, considerate, generous in time and offerings and really made a difference. When you can tell someone truly loves their job, that energy just flows and flows!

Our rooms were very clean with thick towels, slippers and plush robes! These robes came in hand to soak in our private outdoor tubs and to visit the two infinity pools. There is another gorgeous pool by the gym/yoga yurt, but we stayed close to the cliffs this time.

I took two nurturing and lovely yoga classes with Jade (loved her! as a yoga instructor myself, you can tell when the practice runs in someones blood - and Jade is the real deal), bathed in redwood forest magic, ate incredible food in the restaurant and poolside and had a few of the best days of my life to date.

So grateful to visit this architectural gem and I hope the universe allows me to go back one day!

Not good. Bad service, lady at front desk rude, food not worth the money.

We stayed at Post Ranch Inn from January 29 to February 1 for our 20th anniversary and it truly felt like a dream. The property is absolutely breathtaking, with the most stunning 180-degree ocean views that make you feel completely immersed in nature. The seclusion and privacy are unmatched, creating a peaceful and deeply restorative experience.

Our Upper Pacific Suite was beautiful — thoughtfully designed with modern comforts, including a gorgeous outdoor hot tub that made the stay even more special. We especially appreciated the daily amenities and small touches that made us feel so well cared for.

The staff went above and beyond throughout our stay. Everyone was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive, anticipating our needs while still allowing us to fully relax and disconnect. DJ Singh, as the Director of Guest Relations, made a special effort to check in on our stay, and give us tips on the local area and its attractions.

Dining at Sierra Mar was exceptional. Every meal was delicious, and the service was equally memorable — warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive.

The experiences offered on property made the stay unforgettable. Our spa session was wonderful, and Heather's guided meditation with forest bathing was both grounding and unique. The stargazing experience with Sergio was truly mind-blowing and one of the highlights of our trip.

Post Ranch Inn was the perfect place to celebrate a special milestone, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We hope to return one day.

This was our second visit to PRI. Although it rained during our entire stay, it did not diminish the experience. From the moment you arrive, a sense of calmness overcomes you. There was something magical about enjoying a meal, a hot cup of coffee, or a cold glass of espresso martini while watching the rain cascade over the stunning views.

PRI is a retreat…a place where time slows down, stress dissolves, & serenity & relaxation is redefined. Our second visit was just as magical as the first!

Once again, the experience was unsurpassed & the employees from the staff to the General Manager (Tim Lee) was like no other! You could feel the warmth & sincerity of everyone at PRI…like one big ohana (family).

Perched above the Pacific Ocean, this adults only retreat offers dramatic views and eco conscious design. The peaceful setting makes it ideal for relaxation.

We’ve had the pleasure of visiting Post Ranch many times over the years and every visit is special! For us it’s a great way to hit the reset button by spending a few days decompressing in incomparable Big Sur. I’m always struck by the intimacy of this property, everything is perfect and set up just like it was created exclusively for you.

The staff is amazing, prompt, courteous, discreet…if you have a need they’re available and more than willing to help you. Many times we were approached and asked how we were enjoying our stay, always with a finishing - if there’s anything else we can do, please let us know.

Last a huge shout out goes to Mike Freed, the owner of the property. MIke conceptualized PRI with Billie Post, and the ethos lives on. This isn’t a corporate run hotel, this is a continued vision of a creation that’s been honed and polished over decades. MIke and his staff work tirelessly to evolve PRI and offer the amazing experience that it has been in the past and still is today. If you have an opportunity to stay at PRI I’d highly suggest that you take some time to learn about the history of Big Sur, the Post Family and the creation of PRI. It’s truly a unique part of California and we very much look forward to returning again and again!

Extraordinary stays are rare. Unbelievable stays require a combination of luxurious accommodations, unpretentious service, delectable food and gracious amenities... all in the majestic setting of the Big Sur!

Such was our 2nd stay at the Post Ranch Inn! Serene, tranquil with breathtaking views… amidst a majestic redwood forest with hiking trails, scenic lookouts and unique art sculptures, intertwined with nature, all within the resorts property.

Our spacious room with a private outdoor hot tub was tastefully elegant with natural woods and bright original art pieces. The General Manager, Mr. Tim Lee and his attentive staff were always so accommodating and cheerful in assisting us throughout our stay. If all that is not enough, Tim embraces a conservation, recycling and sustainability initiative... more than any other hotel I've experienced, making our stay even more rewarding.

Yes, dining options are limited but not unexpected. It might be nice to have an early evening casual sunset happy hour with live music to create a relaxed socializing environment during the magic hour...A time to meet, share and mingle with guests and nature.

Unique vacations can be found in many exciting destinations, but a stay at the Post Ranch Inn can only be described as simply "Unforgettable"! We’ll be back!

What’s the value of being mesmerized 24/7 by the Pacific Ocean, stretched out beneath you from the cliffs of Big Sur? What’s the value of a level of hospitality that feels almost impossible — staff who appear exactly when you need something and are invisible the moment you want to be left alone? What’s the value of a truly priceless experience? If you’re on the fence, wondering whether the price could possibly match the experience: it does. And then some.

We stayed at the Slate House (Upper Coast House Tree & Ocean View) for a weekday getaway. Super friendly and helpful staff, the house was stocked with quite a few snacks and drinks, in-room dinning food quality were good, and fun hiking trail across the property. EV drivers - staff automatically charged (L2 charger) my EV without me even asking, perfect & ready for next morning drive.

What a wonderful and majical place to spent time. We had an ocean view and a private patio with hottub. It made it very diffcult to leave since the room, view and patio were so nice. We will being visiting again.

It's a magical place with all of the senses settling on beautiful vistas and comfortable surroundings. A cosseted feeling envelopes you every moment.

Post Ranch Inn is heaven on earth! Beautiful property in beautiful surroundings with the best staff, food and amenities! Our happy place!
