Astoria Grand Hotel

The property was clean and innovative.
The front desk unfriendly and I felt I was disturbing when asked few questions. My room (suit for 3) was not set up for 3 but only for two people. The housekeeper was very friendly and helped us setting it up quickly but the front desk seemed to be irritated because she was asked.

Not enough charging outlets in the room. Not a single one in the bedroom - only 2 for the nightstands but they were behind the bed stand so if you want to charge your phone at night you can’t.

Overall a good property but the front desk staff should be more friendly and welcoming.

I will not come back to this hotel. On the top floor there is a noisy club that plays loud music until 1.30 AM.
Even NINE floors below it you still can hear it.
The window curtain allows a lot of light to enter the room just after the sunrise, so you can sleep just a few hours.

The breakfast is decent

Good location, very good breakfast, staff nice and helpfull

When I checked in there was bed linen on the floor from the previous occupant and the garbage had not been emptied. The shower was only lukewarm in the evening and again later in the morning. The breakfast was good and plentiful except the eggs were cold so I just didn't eat them.

Nice hotel, spacious and comfortable room. There is a tram stop, close to the hotel, and two of the trams stopping there (No5 and No15) are going to the city centre. The hotel personnel could be a bit friendlier, and the breakfast buffet - better. Most of the "hot dishes" were not hot at all, and on some days the variety was definitely lesser.

Amazing stay. Food was as excellent as my room!

Good: WiFi was free.
Bad: WiFi was free of internet, too.
I think it would be better to have to pay for a working, secure connection.

Staff is very kind, patient and friendly.

Everythink was bad know one help us with our problems

Great location, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable. Great location within 15/20 minute walk of everything.

It was the worst hotel experience in my history of traveling, first they could not find my booking, then my assistant paid another room, then they still charged my card for the booking they could not find, after fighting them they say the money will be returned but if I said nothing they would not refund, the breakfast was terrible cold and with hair and scrambled eggs with eggshells in it, if this is a for star hotel, then I'll try book 8 star next time. I reported the complete incident to my friends in the government and we consider to recommend our organizations to stop using hotels. Com as well.

The building is ok inside, all shining, but the underground parking is a big mess.

Chose this hotel for the proximity to the main road out of Sofia - early morning departure meant we needed to avoid city traffic. Was perfect for that.

Room was really nice. Comfy beds, great shower.
All staff we interacted with were helpful and nice.

Note: If you want access to the casino and are not Bulgarian, take a passport. They wont accept any other ID.

Breakfast buffet was nice, good selection as you'd expect.
Shame it was all luke warm.

Would definitely stay again.

Abbiamo viaggiato in gruppo occupando più di una stanza. Tutti abbiamo riscontrato problemi con la connessione WI-FI che non è mai stato risolto.
Per la policy dell’albergo viene richiesto di pagare il soggiorno in anticipo.
L’albergo è metà per parecchi gruppi di turisti in transito, ci è capitato di non poter fare colazione a causa di una lunghissima fila, abbiamo preso un po’ di frutta da portare via ma abbiamo dovuto lasciare tutto perché altrimenti ci sarebbe stata addebitata una penale di 20€ per ogni stanza.

Personale non molto friendly. Continue richieste di pagamento in anticipo. Parcheggio molto costoso.

Nice hotel in a casino building. Confused and unhelpful staff. We arrived to check in. Although they could see our booking in the system, they could not give us a room until something ? happened in the system. We couldn’t get our room for 4 hours. After an hour, we eventually left to see the city. There was no apology, no offer of anything to compensate - not even a coffee. It was odd and rude and very off-putting.
