the residence is good for family type of traveling. staff cannot speak easy English. Samran Residence location is in the middle of krabi Town and the beach. advise to rent motorcycle for view. if you bring a family, Samran Residence is good value for money to stay.
Otherwise cannot understand bad reviews. I have nothing but praise for this hotel! Wow!! Amazingly clean, friendly staff and unexpected subtitles. Perfect for budget travelers. Excellent value for the money.
I highly recommend NOT booking this place! After travelling 12 hours to reach Krabi we were looking forward to putting our bags down and relaxing but it was the worst experience of our trip!
1. This place is extremely hard to find and the locals don't seem to know where the street was
2. If you get dropped off in the town centre (by the river), expect to have to hike up a hill past dodgy buildings and confusing signage - really annoying if you have heavy bags and you're tired/lost/feeling like crap
3. Don't expect the staff to understand ANY english
4. Worst of all was the service which was utter rudeness!!
When we FINALLY found the place and tried to check in, the girls behind the counter (who didn't seem to know what was going on) didn't take us to our rooms and told us to wait whilst sitting there smiling, even after we asked them what was going.
Then, with NO explanation, the owner rocks up on his bike and tells me (with my partner in-tow) to "hop on", with no explanations what so every as to WHY we were being asked to "hop on" the bike and leave the place we booked.
Firstly, I'm not hopping on a bike in a foreign country with a stranger and secondly with NO explanation as to why we couldn't stay in the place when there was CLEARLY vacancies! When we tried to ask the girls (again) behind the counter what happened to our booking, all they could do was smile! The guy on the bike was the same "come with me, come with me".
Turns out he was trying to palm us off to another residence around the corner instead. God knows why, we didn't receive any explanation. We figured he was trying to give his friend business or they had some deal going on but that is appalling behaviour. Then they had the nerve to try and charge us more!
Even thought I had a headache and we were exhausted, we were SO disgusted at the way we were treated that we found another place to stay for our couple of days there. I wish we could rate 0 on this place because that's what I would give it!
An utterly disgusting experience from this residence. They need to learn how to treat their customers better.
I visited there once last two nights, at first I thought this hotel isn't in a very good location but when I got in and saw the room, it was so lively. My family does appreciate! I think the staff were so friendly and helpful, their English are not really well but they understood what we tried to ask.
Anyway, I think I will definitely visit there again, next time!
We stayed there for just one night, backing from Phi Phi to take the flight to Bangkok the next day. Despite the really low price, I think this place doesn’t worth the visit. Its location is terrible, the staff, though friendly, have a very poor English, the rooms are acceptable, but I have my doubts about the cleanliness. Breakfast is not so bad. In overall, believe me you are traveling half a world to visit Thailand, you don’t need to spend your nights here.
