No extra frills but pleasant for a quick stay
Pros:

This was our first time staying at a Tru by Hilton, and my feelings are mixed. This particular property had a very unpleasant, moldy water smell as soon as we walked in the lobby, but other than that it appeared clean and neat. The staff members were warm and welcoming, so no complaints there. The biggest thing we liked about Tru was that they are extremely pet-friendly to the point of having dog treats available and posted resources like nearest vet, nearest dog park, etc.. THAT is service for pet families!

The breakfast bar was outstanding. If you are trying to avoid carbs and sugar, good luck because they feature an irresistible build-it-yourself pancake bar in which we indulged (a lot). Love that they have complimentary hot tea and coffee available at all times in the lobby.

As far as what we didn't love, it's some of the layout choices. We totally understand that Tru is appealing to certain age groups who may value open concepts and bright colors and a laid back lifestyle more than others, and that's fine. But the minimalist vibe and decor won't feel right for everyone. If you are looking for lots of amenities and furniture, this is not the place for you to stay. But if you are looking for a place that is super welcoming to pets and is budget-friendly, stay at Tru. We were only there one night and it served its purpose for us as we passed through Amarillo.

P.S. The shower was superb - spacious with great water pressure and super hot temperatures.

It was fine. Did not feel worth it for the price compared to other stays I’ve had for cheaper.
Pros:

Convenient location. Easy to find with plenty of parking.

Cons:

Tv in our room had terrible picture quality due to the backlights dying out. Blinds for the windows are hard to open or close.

Tru Came Through BIG!
Pros:

I had a large group of students and adults that needed a place to stay late last night because the hotel we were suppose to be in was not safe. Tru not only had room for most of our but they called a surrounding hotel to secure additional needed spaces for us while we were figuring out the best plan! Tru staff members went above and beyond!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by amazing smiles at the front desk! We have been incredibly impressed by the work staff’s attentiveness and dedication to keeping the facility clean! Lacey is a terrific manager, and we have felt at home during our stay here!

This is how the hospitality industry should work!
Pros:

Location good. Rooms were clean and minimalistic in look no carpet. Felt like my cats were welcome. That is not always the case. Beds were on the firm side and blankets were thin.
There was someone above us with their TV really loud about 3am. The nice girl at the desk did everything she could to get them to turn it down for an hour- went up there, called cell, called room. So we didn’t get much sleep. Talked to Blake the next morning. He was wonderful, made everything right. We will be staying in this chain again.
