Items Went Missing… be careful here
Pros:

I had a very disappointing experience at GLō Best Western Kanata Ottawa West (December 5, 2025).

During my stay, a backpack containing personal belongings, including brand-name clothing, with an estimated value of approximately $800–$1000 CAD, went missing. I clearly remember a staff member handling one of my bags, but it was never returned to me.

When I contacted the hotel, there was little to no effort made to properly investigate the situation, and no clear answers were provided.

I have since filed a police report regarding this incident.

This is very concerning, especially given the lack of accountability and follow-up from both the hotel and Best Western.

I would strongly recommend being cautious with your personal belongings if staying here.

Pros:

Once and done.

The decor was whimsical and upbeat.

Cons:

The breakfast was terrible. The potatoes were cold and not cooked through. The eggs were from a box and only one option; scrambled. I travel with a Pescatarian and with dietary restrictions. Hard boiled eggs would have been nice. Muffins; bran or blueberry would have been nice. Oat milk and honey for tea. There were only very basic "eat it or starve" options offered and only until 9am. The dining area had no room to sit. The food station was a complete mess as were the counters where I finally managed to get a seat (at the computer station). I tried to call the front desk about how to make my room warmer and it rang and rang and rang...no one ever answered. The front desk staff, (if you were standing infront of them) were polite, happy and courteous. The cleaning staff around the breakfast were not smiley, did not engage with the diners as they moved around them to take the breakfast away. They just moved the food. Some other guests asked if tbey could have just a little food as tbey missed the cutoff by 10 mins and I heard the staff tell them no because it was but away. That is horrible. My heart broke for those guests.

Well worth it!
Pros:

The hotel location was perfect for attending an Ottawa senators game. It was clean, the staff were friendly and had everything we needed for the night.

The room was well thought out, clean and everything worked without issues. A very nice added bonus was the white noise machine in the room, which is something I’ve never seen in a hotel before!

Overall we were very happy. Great value for everything we got with Glo!

I booked thru a third party and didn’t qualify for the Best Western Hotel promotions. I didn’t realize this.

Cons:

Had little black ants in our room and were crawling on my duffle bag. Not many but noticeable. Cleaning staff replied that the garbage storage room was in close proximity.

NOT ACCESSIBLE FOR HEARING IMPAIRED
Pros:

Overall my wife and I were quite impressed by GLO! Everything was new and clean.
There was one serious disappointment though for me, although it is not a "deal breaker".
I have a hearing impairment and cannot follow any TV show without seeing closed captions. The TV remote has a button for captions. I pressed that and toggled the "captions" option. It lit up. NO CAPTIONS!
I repeated this a few time, but no success. I went down to the front desk to see what i was doing wrong. I was informed that even though that option appeared on the menu displayed, it had not been activated for the hotel.
I spent my screen time watching netflix on my 6" smartphone with captions there.

Our room was full of ANTS
Pros:

Not the type of people to write reviews or complain but this was disgusting. Most of the hotel was fine, but our room was infested with ANTS. We noticed how bad it was at 2am the night before we would be checking out early. Mentioned it at the front desk upon check out with no attempt to make it right.

Cleanliness of the building and our room! Bed was comfy! Staff are friendly and kind!

Cons:

My check in time was 4-5pm and a bus load of a hockey team was checking in ahead of me and they had open alcoholic beverages standing in the line up to check in, music playing on a Bluetooth speaker, I stood in line up to check in for about an hour. Only 1 staff at the counter to check everyone in! Would have been helpful to have another staff working at the counter to help with the rush! Other than that everything else was smooth sailing!

Kanata Stay
Pros:

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Even though there was a kid's hockey tournament staying there the room was quiet. Breakfast was good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
