We loved the atrium restaurant. The building is beautiful and a perfect place to relax after an airport travel journey.
The hotel is physically located in the historical district, easy walking distance to key tourist hot spots.
Issues with hotel room, each day was an adventure to get in the room, sometimes 2 or 3 visits was needed to get in my room, every time I took a shower, the fire alarm was being activated, loose hinge screws on primary room closet door, issue with toilet flushing water level, it needed me to add 2-3 liters of water in order not to get the sewer smell in the bathroom.

Our room was not prepared properly. Took multiple calls to fix issues. The two-room suite did not have coffee maker not mini fridge. WiFi signal was not reachable in the room we have stayed.

Great spot in the heart of San Jose . Good Valet who took care of the car and luggage. The room was clean and we had a good meal in the hotel restaurant.
Stayed for a night and it was clean , location was perfect to walk around the city and staff were nice.
I had called tthe hotel to confirm my 8 day reservation in the Presidential Suite 2 days prior, and the hotel front desk confirmed it. Also told them that my flight did not arrive until 8: 40 p.m. and confirmed a late check in. On arrival at the hotel, I was told the Suite was occupied, and they gave me a lame excuse that someone else had booked it through Expedia two days after I did, and had arrived earlier. Truth is they re-sold it for more money and gave me a smaller room no refund.
The toilet had black spots under the rim.
The coffee pot was not clean either
No hot water
would have given a better rating, but the covid test that I scheduled ahead of time was somehow lost in the shuffle, as well as my pre-booked ride to the airport. Other than that, I would stay again. Great location and the Belford Suite was perfect for us!
It took over an hour to check in because they had no record of my reservation from expedia. After talking directly with expedia they were able to check me in and gave me a room upgrade. The room itself was very clean and inviting.
Very nice rooms, good food. Off a long road to get there. We did ut in a little car, lots of bumps. Good activities on site.
The hotel is located in the heart of the city where everything is at your door. The room was extremely big with a king bed. It was very clean and comfortable. The only thing that was not was the shower head. The water pressure was strong but the shower head was terrible and with the pressure, the water pinched my skin. Not comfortable. Besides that, everything was great!
I would say they have a really friendly staff. As far as I can recall I didn’t dislike anything..

I have stayed here before but will not do so again
1. I had booked a 2 bedroom junior suite but got 2 bedrooms and one bathroom - I did not complain because my travel companion was unable to complete the trip.
2. Having left my credit card the hotell authorised US100 on my card. I tried to charge lunch($30 Approx) to my room I was to,d I had to pay in cash or credit card - attemptsto reverse this decision by contacting the front desk proved negative, though when I complained to the front desk I was told I could charge to my room.
3. Hotel have any number of tour brochures and at the front desk I booked an afternoon tour for the following day- after waiting 45 minutes the transport had not arrived - the front desk phoned the travel company who I was told said that they had no reservation, but if I wanted I could get a taxi to the departure point and they would knock $10 off the cost - I didn’t bother.
4. I had a 5.40AM departure flight and was told I needed to book a taxi at least 24 hours in advance - and this I did - the NEXT morning I was woken abruptly at 2.30 AM to be told my airport taxi was waiting for me - this was 24 hours before my flight
There were other minor issues, but clearly at this hotel the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing-no one at the front desk was prepared to take responsibility and the stock answer was that it would have to be referred to his or her supervisor, who I suspect did not exist
Rooms needed maintaince and some paint on the interior doors of our room
The restaurant service was very slow and the food was mediocre.
We loved our stay at the Hotel Balmoral - all the main museums and parks were walking distance. There was a bar, cafe, restaurant, ice cream shop on the first floor of the hotel which made it easy for late dinners. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Worth the stay!
