The photos are simply untrue. The camp is in poor condition - broken chairs & lanterns; blankets thrown about; garbage strewn here & there. There is only one outlet in each tent and electricity was not always available. We had less than five minutes of hot water over 48 hours. Often one teenager was the only staff on site, and we had to communicate using Google translate, as the adults simply were not around. Hamid did his best to keep things lively, but he’s working with very little. I would not recommend this camp to anyone - and I’ve been to others, so this is not a review in isolation. The owner Albert (who is apparently back in Spain) told us we would be picked up at a location 10 kms from the place his staff were waiting. They couldn’t be bothered to come get us and we could not find the site on Google Maps. Eventually we found each other, but this is one example of poor service and communication. Thankfully our 4x4 guide Barack saved this trip by making our tour memorable. The rest was simply disappointing all around. Go elsewhere and get a real camp experience…
The tent is big, wc and shower inside the tent, it is so much cold on the night, we get cold, dinner is good (soup, tagine, fruits), but breakfast has little option, (there is No egg)
The staffs and Alberto are very helpfully
It was the most amazing experience. From the actual tent to the staff. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Always eager to help. Mohammed, the person that greats you is very helpful and very friendly and funny. Any time we ask for anything he got the staff to get it to us ASAP.We also took a tour with the driver from here, Mustafa, it was a 4-5 hour tour through the desert and it's villages. Minus a couple of technical problems, but remember you're in the middle of the desert, this place and it's staff was 10 out of 10.
First off, the photos of this property on Expedia are wrong. They imply that the camp is in the sand dunes, they are NOT in the sand dunes, they are about a KM away from the dunes on a dusty flat gravel plateau. The owner said they used to be in the dunes but the government moved all camps out of the dunes. So photos are misleading.
Shortly after booking, we received a message that we should meet at 16:00 at camp AUBERGE LIBERTE. We got there at that time but no one showed up until after 5.
It was then a waiting game as they were always waiting for something or other. At the end, even though we chose to get the the camp by car (10 min drive) we were at the camp by around 7pm.
The people who greeted us at the meeting point were nowhere to be seen after we got to the camp.
The best part about this experience were the people at the camp, Omar and his team were friendly, made sure we were entertained and really tried hard to make sure we were comfortable.
There was no wifi at the camp, only one place in the common area to charge the phone, but there was full 4G coverage for anyone with a Sim card.
Dinner was pretty good, and breakfast was pretty basic bu OK.
Next day, they drove us back to our car.
Taking a camel carries and extra cost.
