The room was filthy, toilet actually had streaks and we have pics, paint chipped everywhere, all in all, horrible value for the money - there was no bar staff around 10:15 PM and no on at reception - people coming in potentially for rooms and leaving. Elevator didn't work, and while we were aware of this, really?? Many people stay at this hotel to catch the ferry in Rosslare Harbour, but no breakfast feasible for those traveling to make the morning ferry - it starts too late. Unfortunately, there were no positives here.
Location
Lift out of order. Late check in - rang ahead and noted. Waited for 20 mins before someone came to reception. Rang phone and nobody answered. Even when receptionist showed up he ignored the phone and us!
The hotel was very clean the facilities were good and the staff were very professional and helpful
No bottle water in the toom
Staff were great
Beds were uncomfortable, shower water pressure was very bad, and hairdryer didn't work
Nothing. We have never stayed in a hotel this bad.
We stayed in a family room with a double bed and bunkbeds. The lights in the entrance didn't work so the room was really dark. The lamps we could use had switches behind the headboard so we had to move the bed to use the lights. The decor is awful. Our room was for four but we had 2 chairs to sit on. The mattresses were uncomfortable. We had to request extra pillows and when we spoke to the receptionist, she was aware of how bad the facilities are and apologised. We jjust felt embarrassed for her. Overall, it's our worst ever hotel experience. Ever.
The reason we stayed here is we had a ferry to catch at 8am the following morning. So, we also had the misfortune of eating here. The food was average at best. The service was like something from Fawlty Towers - warm tap water sitting in a jug for God knows how long, 50 minute wait for starters, dirty floor and chairs, staff who have no idea what they're doing . . .
Food was excellent apart from tea frim burco boolet whch was awful. Had tio pay extra for an earl grey teabag. Staff were lovely. Very handy location 3 mins drive from the beach.
Shower was hard to egulate and sink didn't drain properly. Mirror in bathroom was too high. Chipped paint on furniture needs a refresh.
staff helpful and pleasant
In the heat - no aircon.
The main window in the room could not be opened.
Too few staff working in the bar - the poor chap that was there run off his feet and stressed out
Required late booking near Ferry & hotel had the only 2 rooms available.
Staff terrific..extremely helpful.
Rooms ‘tired’ & worn… as was the bathroom.
Needs a spruce up…
Wasn’t much for the money paid 😔
Also advised that taxis would be available, however non available on a Saturday morning.
Receptionist Stephen extremely helpful & got me the bus timetable… needed to get the 0625 one.
Given the proximity to the port, minimal transport options, which caused angst.
Where to start… the room was filthy; the carpet and towels were stained, almost every surface was chipped and in need of repainting, and the table was covered in coffee and sugar so the room had clearly not been properly cleaned after the previous guests left. The bathroom is beyond dated, the shower screen ineffective resulting in an inch of water on the bathroom floor, and there was exposed electrics above the mirror. The beds squeaked with every slight movement resulting in broken sleep for the whole family.
The communal areas are little better. Corridors are poorly lit, with proximity sensor lighting which doesn’t activate until you’re already halfway along. The lift was out of order and from reading other reviews, it appears to have been for sometime.
We didn’t get to try breakfast because they don’t start serving until 8am - a poor decision considering a large number of guests will (like us) be staying the night before catching the early ferry. Apparently they offer an early ‘continental’ breakfast but there was option to select this on booking so by the time we’d been offered this on check in we’d made our own arrangements for the morning.
It is clear there has been a lack of routine maintenance and no investment in this hotel for years. It is in dire need of a full refurbishment.
All of this could be (partially) excused if it was good value for money, but it charges premium prices. For comparison, we paid a lower rate at a much better hotel 50 miles away in Waterford before coming here. We should have stayed an extra night and got up an hour earlier to get the ferry.
Very poor. Plates and food cold. Tea left too long on standby and was cold too.
When asked about cold plates at breakfast a female staff member replied curtly " we don't do hot plates" Also at 10.30pm small children running and shouting around bar area.
