Hotel Romantique Plaza Dojran

Restaurant Romantique, Star Dojran: The restaurant is part of the four star Hotel Romantique and on the night we visited, a local musical duo was entertaining parties of locals and guest visitors in the dining room. The food was very good, plentiful and not at all expensive – washed down by some very agreeable local beer and wine. (The mixed meat stew was so delicious, we took some of it home and had it for brunch the next morning, before a stirring walk across the WW1 Macedonia battlefields.) The service was attentive and prompt and my party enjoyed the cultural mix that pervaded the evening. Although we weren’t even staying at the hotel, the manager even organised the taxis to the Greek border on our day of departure from a nearby apartment. Our only small gripe was that, not yet being in the EU, smoking is permitted in the dining room, of which many of the other guests took full advantage.

Excellent location on the way to the border crossing, right next to the lake with its own parking. Very friendly staff, excellent hygiene, spacious room with central air conditioning. Swimming pool right next to the lake with a pool bar, free use of sunbeds and umbrellas. Beach towels available on request. The terrace of the restaurant with quality food and a good selection of drinks overlooks the lake. Good choice of food for breakfast. Recommendation.

The service at the restaurant was totally terrible. We were asked by one of the waiters why did we come here to eat every day as if there aren’t other places to go around here. The staff is very unfriendly and really slow (in conditions where there are only a few tables taken and the restaurant is almost empty), without a will to serve you and can’t wait for the guests to leave. Very badly organized and not clean at all. We would not be coming here again.

The service at the restaurant was non existing. We were seated at a dirty table, and waited for the waiter to come at our table for 15 min before deciding to leave. They need to learn basic customer service, and to appreciate their guest more. For the most “hip” restaurant in Dojran I the experience was disappointing!
We won’t be giving them a second chance!

Didn't expect much, but was highly surprised. The staff is very friendly and helpfull, the hotel is clean and perfectly located. It's just next to the beach. Guessts can use free of charge the pool in front of the hotel. Free wifi available.

The property messaged me two days before my booking, informing me that they had overbooked and couldn’t give me my room. They asked me to cancel my booking. I messaged back and asked them to cancel from their end as I had prepaid for my stay and cancellation was non-refundable. They didn’t cancel it. When I arrived in Star Dojran I visited the hotel, and they assured me that they will cancel the booking and that I will get my money back. They never canceled and I never got a refund.

Went to a family reunion and had delicious lunch! Dojran is a beautiful small town with very nice people, and this hotel is next to the lake with an amazing view. The restaurant was packed with people, our waiter was a bit slow but the food was really good!

This is an average hotel. But when you compare it to the other hotels, bars, pubs and accommodation in Dojran, it well about the average. We had a lunch here. Wifi is free to start. And everything was clean. Lunch was average. I can easily say nothing special. But because it is a hotel, and they have at least some rules, I would eat here again.

Hotel located in the Centre of the Dojran, just at the lake with own Swimming Pool and a very good restaurant. We got a room for 4 and I was quite happy with the size and the view (definitely recommend the view at the lake). The AirCondition worked well. Car parking is very next to the hotel and of decent size. Breakfast was fine as well. Maybe they could have a bit more meat. Swimmimg pool is very nice, maybe not that big. They also have smaller one for children and the entire area is Free of Charge for Hotel guests.

The staff was very friendly and professional. The service was quick and helpful. The food was very good and not so good. The salads and the fish was well made and delicious, the pohovan tikvichki (breaded pumpkin) was not prepared well and the French fries was made in an old oil, which was a pity as it really decreased the enjoy level. The coffee could have been better. Some small changes can increase from four to five stars.
Prices are friendly, card is accepted, free WiFi.

My wife and I had lunch in this hotel.

It is a new hotel, with a pleasant exterior (combination of traditional and modern architecture), well-designed, comfortable.

The restaurant is very nice and the food and the service were excellent.

The music was quiet and romantic, which definitely enabled relaxing moments there.

Very noisy at night from the beach. The breakfast was modest and unobtrusive, cups without dumbbell, fruits fatter, bread only toast, but without toasters. The beach of the hotel is fully occupied with outdoor guests, the same swimming pool. Probably some other time better.

This year we decided to take a break in Dojran, on our way to Greece. Last year we stayed in the hotel with the same name in Veles, but this in Dojran was much better.
Lake Dojran is bigger and prettier than the one near Veles, so you can have a pleasant walk by the lake, with much restaurants to choose.
The hotel itself is quite new, rooms (standard ones) are very small, but very clean.
I saw someone says there are lot of policemen staying at the hotel, it is true, but it didn't bother me at all.
We stayed there on a Saturday evening, and there was a wedding party going on in the restaurant, but our room was on the other side, so we didn't hear the noise.

The hotel is now used for accommodation for a large group of border police from the EU who are helping to stop illegal migrants. It gives the hotel a feel like you are staying at a police barracks, not a four-star hotel. The hotel is under new management which doesn't seem to be an improvement - the tables on the terrace are not cleaned properly, the music is too loud, the menu is nothing special. The staff seem to be rather lethargic, just sitting around. It feels like some cheap motel. While we were there they had a very noisy wedding on the terrace. It was so noisy and went on all night! When we commented to the desk the next day they told us several guests had actually demanded to be moved out of the hotel because of the noise. A real disappointment from previous visits - and will be our last. It is really too bad that what was the only decent hotel in Dojran to stay at has changed for the worse.

An interesting blend of aspiring Macedonian modernity and anachronistic pre-independence Yugoslavia, the Hotel Romantique does its best to offer up-to-date service and almost achieves it. There was running water if of fluctuating temperature and most of the staff were attentive for at least part of the time. The constant music was almost bearable. However, for the price we are not complaining. As a stop over this hotel is cheap and verging on cheerful.

One of the best beach bars in Dojran, nice pool, nice music, works out of season when the other bars are closed. Unfortunately the water glasses and coffee saucers were not clean, even looked like not washed at all.

I have been twice at Romantique Hotel in Dojran.

First time I had a double room for single use, and the room was quite ok.
Well, one the Bathroom faucets was broken, but as there were two, it wasn’t a big problem.
The room itself was well furnitured, but it was a very dark room, as the view was directly on a wall.
But for one night it was really ok.

The breakfast was as well ok, nothing special, but also not bad. I would recommend to order the coffee on the side, the normal breakfast coffee is not good at all.

The second time I have been with my friend, and it was on a Friday.

When we went to bed at about 11pm, there has been really loud and annoying live music from the Hotel Pool.
As we had the „Junior Suite“ or „Deluxe Room“ with view on the see, we also had direct view, where the noise comes from.
Even with earplugs it was unable to rest, the music was way to loud.
At 1am I went to the reception to ask, when the music will end, as it is hosted from the hotel itself.

The lady told me, that it will end at 2am, and indeed, it ended at that time.

I strongly don’t recommend this hotel on the weekend, you wont get a rest until 2am.

I question, why nobody tells you before, that there will be this loud crazyness.

Because the hotel itself is clean, nice arranged and I liked the atmosphere.

But it is ridiculous to have a Junior Suite, if it comes with loud music until 2am without noticing.

We spent one day at the hotel on our trip back home from Greece, we checked-in early and the recepcionist was very friendly, she gave us a nice and clean room, airconditioned and quiet (the temperature outside was 38˚C on that day!). The food in the restourant was delicious and in large portions, staff were again very friendly.. overall the impresion was very good, and we would return to the hotel.

Spent five nights here while exploring local countryside. Comfortable rooms but bathroom drains whiffed and minibar fridge didn't seem to work. Breakfast ok but staffing very variable. Ate out in the evening so can't comment on evening food.

We stayed here with a group of friends and had a lovely time. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant was reasonable. The hotel is right on the lake and would be great in the summer, especially with the terrace.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
