General stay
Have been charged 280 dollars more than the agreed price with the hotel and struggling to get it back.
The stay at this Home2 was mostly as expected. Prior to arriving here, I had just stayed two nights in a Home2 in Cranberry, PA. Now, I wouldn't say that the two stays were day and night, but the Potamac Mills location is lacking in basic hotel operations. Things that were standard in Cranberry were not found in the Potamac Mills location. For one, we were hoping to have cold water available throughout the day along with the coffee and tea, but over three days there wasn't any water available outside of breakfast time. We were there over Easter weekend and there were signs posted that due to the holiday housekeeping would be at a minimum. Truer words have never been stated. The garbage pails were overflowing outside for an entire day. As for the inside pails, for at least an hour past breakfast hours the pails for filled fomthe brim including the coffee station garbage. One morning, the lobby's ladies' room looked like a tornado had gone through. The garbage was overflowing with discarded hand towels and there were tissues all over the floor. The tissues are definitely because of the poor behavior of guests, but had someone been monitoring the bathroom on a regular basis there wouldn't have been this big mess. My room was clean and comfortable. One thing that was obvious was that the standard couch that I was expecting had been swapped out with what appeared to be a part of a sectional sofa. There was only one armrest, the other side ended in an angle and didn't have an armrest. It would match up perfectly with another angled couch. The bed portion of this pull out was rough to sleep on. The mattress was so thin. I felt the bars in my back which prevented a solid sleep. On our first night, there was only a mattress pad on the mattress. The storage bag only had a blanket and two pillows. I had to go to the front desk for the linens, which wasn't a problem. I'm just surprised they weren't left in the room. The reservation was for 2 adults and a 16 year old. We definitely all weren't sleeping in the queen bed. It wasn't until the morning of check out that I stripped the bed to find that the mattress had a major stain on it. It grossed me out to know I slept on something so dirty. Thankfully, the linens were totally clean and crisp. Considering we were a party of of three, they might have left more than two bath towels, but they didn't. I had to get more from the front desk. The people at the front desk were very nice. I was checked in by Mohamed. He was quick and efficient. The next morning another young man was at the desk. He was also very pleasant and friendly. The sweetest was Mary. As I ate breakfast two mornings I heard her engaging with all the guests. She really showed professionalism and understanding and expressed genuine care. When I checked out she asked if I had gotten enough rest. Surprisingly, on this trip I did a lot some time for rest! She was so kind that I almost felt bad telling her about the awful pull-out bed. I opted not to mention anything about the overflowing garbage around the property. It was impossible not to see so I'd assume an employee was going to get to it eventually. This hotel has two BBQ grills. One worked better than the other. We BBQ'd burgers one night and ate in the lobby. There's also a fireplace with some seating. I didn't see it in use, but it seems it would be a cozy atmosphere especially under the hanging lights. The pool looked inviting. Kids seemed to be having a lot of fun, and the gym was also kept clean. Breakfast was good each morning. They offered eggs, sausages, potatoes, breads, yogurt, oatmeal and make your own waffles. I've said this in every other review of Home2, I don't understand the concept of the warming cabinet that they place the food in. It's awkward to grab your food from the long trays while holding the doors open. Aside from that, the food is lukewarm at best. Home2 needs to come up with a better option for holding their breakfast foods. This Home2 used paper plates and plastic cutlery. This takes away from the whole preserve concept. I much prefer real plates and cutlery. There are some restaurants nearby and plenty of gas stations. There's a dog kennel next door. Very rarely did I hear any barking. The property offers everything that you l'd like for a stay. It's worth staying here to save money compared to DC prices. I'm sure on not such a busy holiday weekend things run more smoothly.
I wasn't paying attention when I chose my room. I was initially disappointed when I walked in to find I ordered a bed and a sofa pull-out bed instead of two beds. Nevertheless, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and front desk manger, I believe his name is Muhammad, was pleasant and polite.
I chose this location to enjoy the Cherry Blossom festivities in DC and then ro wake up and hit Potomac Mills Mall for shopping.
Worked out perfectly.
We didn't get a chance to utilize the pool, but lassing by after the pool was closed and the water settled, it looked kinda of dirty and scummy; I'm sure they will shock & clean it (hopefully).
The hotel was a good value. The room was nice and a good size
The breakfast was good, can’t complain too much about free breakfast. Really the worst thing about the hotel was that the floor squeaked and popped as we walked across it. Other than that, it was perfectly fine. Still a good stay
This is an old building that had been refurbished and made into a Home2 to look bright and fresh. However, it remains to be old and creaky, you can hear every sound and on top of that the staff is untrained, unwilling and untidy. Too many pets have given the old smell annadditional odor.
Love the room and the staff was extremely helpful. Good variety at breakfast.
The pool was cold, and the fire pit was out of propane..
