Madinat Al Bahr Business & Spa Hotel

The beginning was a little bumpy yet after I addressed my concerns, the management in all departments including frontdesk and F&B went out of there way to make this visit for my mother and me even more memorable than expected.

I have visit over 200 hotels world-wide in the last three years, and witnessed a combined effort to make things more than right for us.

Since I was working as an F&B Manager on a few cruise ships with years of training in Europe and experience in 5 Star leading Hotel worldwide, I was truly impressed.

Next to a dinner invitation we were honored with a massive room upgrade with no questions asked. The staff was always extremely friendly and forcoming.

I can definitely recommend this magnificent looking Hotel.

This was a last minute stay since we had a missed flight. Very nice hotel though. Wish we could have enjoyed more. It was a beautiful place.

Madinat Al Bahr has a lot going for it. The architecture is striking, the location is peaceful, and staff are warm and welcoming. I enjoyed my stay overall, but it does not quite hold up to the 5-star standard it advertises.

The room was spacious and comfortable, but small details stood out. On arrival I found an ironing board but no iron. Once I requested one, staff brought an iron but the board had disappeared, apparently shared among guests. When I did use it, the only sockets were tucked behind the bedside tables, so quite a bit of manoeuvring was required. The TV picture was static with a line across it, and in the bathroom a small trickle of water appeared on the floor from the sink. When I checked in, the bed was decorated with colourful covers and cushions, but after the first clean this was gone, and my four pillows reduced to three. Granted this was a Standard room, but the basics should not differ.

Food was definitely a let down. Mie nlitaka chapati, haragwe, pilau, michuzi kila aina. Instead, the menu leaned heavily toward international cuisine. While it makes sense for foreign guests, one restaurant dedicated to local food would have been a real highlight. The hotel advertises six restaurants but in practice I only found two.

The property is beachfront, but worth noting the beach is public.

Overall, not a bad place to stay. Staff, setting, and pool are positives, but it falls short of polished 5-star service.

Great staff, food, bar, room, ocean view, ocean access, pool, transportation, and convenience!

My god the staff are out of this world... Nothing is too much for them to do, they really make it happen such that you will enjoy an unforgettable experience. Too many names to list and I don't want to forget anybody!

Excellent hotel near the airport and short drive to the city. Clean large pool and beach for swimming. Plenty of shaded sitting areas. Restaurant food is good. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Rooms have beautiful views. Would be nice if some music or entertainment on Friday night. However music is provided at the Thai restaurant.

Kann dem Hotel in jeder Hinsicht 5 Sterne geben. Perfekter Service von Ankunft bis zur Abreise. Wir waren die letzen 2 Tage vor dem Rückflug dort um uns Stone Town und die Gegend anzuschauen. Das Hotel bietet auch kostenlose Beförderung zum Flughafen, egal zu welcher Zeit. Wir hatten Halbpension und waren sehr zufrieden.

The property was conveniently located near the airport and provided transportation and local tour concierge services.

Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff

Overall, we had a great stay. The rooms were comfortable and the shower was amazing. When we had any issues they were dealt with very promptly and without any fuss. Pity that the half board rate only related to their main dining room and not to other restaurants on the site. Great swimming pool although hard to get out of if you are a little weak. Breakfast was generous and had different offerings each morning which made for a nice variety. Not really a resort but a nice, relaxing place to be for a few days.

This property was amazing. Stunningly beautiful and everything was thought of. Customer service was top notch. The only areas of improvement for me was that wifi was very slow in some rooms and spaces and the long nails of the spa ladies did not provide for an optimal experience. Other than that - 10/10.

Wir verbrachten fünf Tage in Ihrem Hotel und waren mit den Leistungen sehr zufrieden. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren abwechslungsreich und reichhaltig. Die Sauberkeit in den Räumlichkeiten war vorbildlich. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit.
Als Europäer sollte man sich darüber im Klaren sein, dass die Standards hier deutlich niedriger sind als in unseren Breitengraden. Das Haus selbst ist renovierungsbedürftig, allerdings sind laufende Arbeiten erkennbar, die von einem engagierten Team ausgeführt werden. Als Mitarbeiter in der Hotellerie möchte ich anmerken, dass die Tücher, Bademäntel und Stoffservietten einen starken Geruch aufweisen. Dies könnte verbessert werden. Der Spa-Bereich könnte ebenfalls ein gutes Update vertragenvertragen,hervoDamen.

Beautiful Hotel, wonderful staff!

Everyone was lovely, staff are very attentive and the food was great. The rooms are clean and tidy, executive rooms are spacious and the view from the balcony was just to die for. Slight issue with the internet connection in our room but the staff managed to get it sorted. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable.
