Great location nice suite with dining table couch very secured helpful staff
Quarter House staff were always friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and filled with charm. It is an old hotel with a number of quirks, so if you want new and shiny, this is not thr place for you.The room was extremely quiet despite parades being just a few blocks away. The location is convenient to so many places, especially the parades on Canal and Royal Street. Loved this second stay.and will always check to see if there is an opening when visiting New Orleans!
It's important to get clear directions from the front desk how to get to your room. I thought we did, but it took us a few tries to get there. It was a little frustrating after flight delays and such, but the room was worth it! Hotel staff made it up to us. It was hard to tell if the room would have one bathroom or two. Our group could have used two for sure, so make sure to clarify ahead of time as some rooms have one and others have two. We used the lobby bathroom as our number two. It was always clean and a short journey away....
Very central and near to the buzz at French quarter. Our apartment was huge.
The cleaning was lacking when we got the apartment, and cockroaches were under the bed and in the kitchen - both dead and alive ones. The staff should learn to smile and say hello to the guests.
It was a basically comfortable and clean place to stay in a very old part of the French Quarter. The beds were comfortable and they were not real tall, but not like you fall into the bed, either. The pillows were the best! Thick and fluffy instead of thin and fluffy. I was worried that I would be cold in the room as it is New Orleans, but the days I stayed it was between 25 and 35° everyday for the week. Still, while the covers on the bed were adequate enough, they did have extra covers and blankets in the closet. That was nice. The kitchen was great! Full size refrigerator, full size sink, dishwasher, nice counters and cabinets and completely furnished with plates, cups, saucers, and silverware. There were no cooking pots or anything like that available, but I had brought my own just in case. The TVs are not very big and seem a little outdated, but there was one in the living room and in the bedroom, both easily seen from wherever you were in either rooms. The bathroom was nice although the shower wasn't very strong and the water pressure was weak. It took forever for the hot water to show up. But once it did, it seemed fine. The toilet was of adequate height so you didn't feel like you fell into the toilet when you sat down. Some people think that's important.
For the most part, the staff were nice, The check-in was easy, parking was easy enough for that area as one cannot expect it to be simple. It's the French Quarter in New Orleans. Parking was much cheaper than other hotels. I paid around $35 a day compared to $65 a day of other hotels for the same level of concierge parking.
The proximity to really good restaurants and food is great! Even for a handicapped individual.
Here's where the hotel lost a good review...
The very first day, I found a worm on my knee. Sitting on the couch, I felt something very light and wet fall onto my bare knee. I looked at it and it was a live, very small worm. Google identified it as a Indian meal moth worm. Obviously, these are very common and households and hotels, but they quickly grow into moths and fly everywhere. See the pictures below. There's really not anything anybody can do about it. They could sweep the ceiling, fog the room, etc, but it's not like they could get rid of it quickly. Kind of gross. Again, is it a New Orleans thing? I don't know. The reviews do talk about bed bugs, but I did not find any evidence of this as I did bring a blue light to make sure I did not have those in my room. But it is a pest and it was disappointing. Yes, I contacted hotel staff. They said they would take care of it. I never saw any indication of that.
The cable TV didn't work. They promised the amenities of TV and they don't have anything to watch. Nothing.. If the cable TV is out, there is no TV at all. My entire stay had no TV. So, I purchased a fire stick for $20 from Amazon and had it there in one day. So, why not just go outside and experience the French Quarter? I was there for a conference, and I'm from New Orleans so I'm very familiar with all the touristy things that I'm really not that interested in. Even still, there's always that time you just want to lay back in bed or on the couch in the living room and just chill out or rest. Sometimes TV is a really nice option and one that I typically expect from any hotel I stay at. Of course, they were pleasant with I'm sorry and will try to get it done by tomorrow... And the next day... And the next day... And I do realize that it's not always their fault, but there should be a backup plan.
If your handicapped, it's going to be very tight.
The location was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The 2 bed/2 bath apartment with kitchen was spacious and appropriately appointed.
While the apartment was clean, it was slightly shabby and could use some updating. Both of the toilets would not fill automatically, and you had to jiggle the handle. The carpet was dingy and needed replaced.
Proximity to everything. Great apartment sized room.
Noise from Mahogany Jazz club. Noise from street cleaners. Kind of wish there was continental breakfast, but Fleur de Lis restaurant had great breakfast just two blocks up.
Location in French quarter and easy walk to bourbon st, the river and canal st. Most tours to plantations and swamp pick up from hotel
The location
Friendly, clean, comfortable
Great location. Cool, old building with a courtyard. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
It was a hassle getting the luggage cart all the way to our room, but the staff was very helpful.
The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. The location was perfect.
I loved everything about quarterhouse
Very nice ambience and cute little courtyard. The rooms were roomy and comfortable. The location was in the center of all the happenings and popular streets.
The staff was very rude and one gentleman gave us wrong directions after we had told him we keep getting lost! I didn’t like the fact that they have no parking and you have to park several streets away at another hotel. It was very inconvenient and we had to carry our bags for blocks.
The hotel is in a great location to access the French Quarter and Canal Street. Our room was extremely clean and spacious. We called before our check-in time in hopes of accessing our room a little early. To our surprise, the room was ready. All in all, we had a great stay, and we will definitely keep this hotel in mind for future NOLA visits.
