What didn't we like?
Well where do I start?
The wife has finally manged to explain the true meaning of being catfished! She always struggled to get me to understand the meaning of the hip, trendy words in use by the youth of today, so today the penny finally dropped!
I have just been seriously catfished by Booking.com. The photos on the site look marvelous, rooms look nice, neat, spacious and tidy, the exterior and interior areas look pristine, so you can imagine what the acctual property and rooms are really like!
Check in is from 16:00, as there is no one there until then, there is a stray sign inside that says the bar is open daily from 15:00 to 21:00, but think that was some time ago.
We were met, by all I can describe as a Wurzel Gummage kind of character, who after about five minutes of standing around, eventually asked if we were checking in. He was scruffy and disheveled and looked liked he'd been working down a mine rather than a host at a hospitality venue! I have to apologies to Wurzel Gummage at this juncture, before he writes into the local paper and says he isn't that bad!
The room 23.2 m2, don't know what unit of measurement this was based on, as if you were inclined to swing a cat, there is no room to partake in this activity. The ensuite, if you could call it that was a pod built into the room, more of a Tardis in the room, but without the advantage of the space, more like the Turdis! The temperature in the room was a tad antartic to say the least, and we were asked if we wanted the heating on! No, we like living like peguins! Yes heating would be good, didn't think it was an optional extra in Scotland in the autumn, neccesity springs to mind.
So after check in we decided to have a relaxing drink, However, not in the bar in the hotel, as this was a freezing, dingy and and as previously Mein Host was not very hospitable.

Everything

Hotel very tired and need a lot of work. Strange smell almost like it as not been cleaned since the smoking ban.

It was a bit noisy in the corridors in the early morning.

There could have been more tea bags, milk and coffee sachets in the tea tray in the room. The pre order breakfast menu was a little over complicated with a confusing numbering system. Perhaps just having a tick box system would have been a bit simpler. Sadly the plastic casing was also left on the black pudding and the vegetarian haggis on both mine and my partners breakfast. I didn't feel there was value for money

Service was a little idiosyncratic - a bit 1970s bed and breakfast .

The owner was not friendly. Accommodation was very overpriced. Service at breakfast was very slow .

It was creepy. The beds were not comfortable and the host was not welcoming. He questioned our choices for breakfast as being too much! And when we finished breakfast he brought out the bacon we ordered. He needs to change jobs!

It was very basic but had everything you needed.

Room was okay but just not to my taste.

The staff didn't seem in a very good mood and I had to ask a lot of questions for information that was not given (e.g. when is breakfast, where is breakfast etc.). The breakfast was also quite poor in my opinions (overdone eggs, underdone hash browns, the coffee had a funny taste etc.).

The hot water wasn't responsive and the shower came out as a trickle in the shared bathroom. Also, the WiFi password on notices was incorrect and the WiFi was turned off on arrival, which seemed very strange.
