The boutique hotel was not the same like others hoteles nearby, this one has unique characters, specially in suites rooms..
What an amazing place. It’s exquisite. Panoramic views across the bay. You feel like you are staying in a friend’s home. As the former Ambassador’s house it has a colonial feel & full of traditional features with a lovely sitting room & honesty bar. Lots of areas to sit outside and your own area outside your room with both chairs and sun beds. Very comfortable room & bed. Luxurious bedding. We slept with the window open & so peaceful with the sound of the waves. It’s restoring. Breakfast is layed out in a gorgeous courtyard terrace. Lots of choice & the extra touches of homemade rolls & cake. Daisy who runs the hotel with her husband Rae is so kind, helpful, friendly & happy. They work so hard to keep everything pristine & to make your stay extra special. We swam every day in the (very cold) tranquility pool & even saw dolphins. The hotel is in the heart of PB with its own car park. Lots of lovely restaurants our favourite an Italian called L’Artista & favourite bar La Galeria. This was our second stay & can highly recommend.
This wonderful, exquisite hidden gem of a hote lin Playa Blanca - just 10 rooms and 2 suites is luxury and tranquility just a stones throw from the promanade. It is kept running smoothly by Daisy and Ray, Daisy is worth her weight in gold (I hope the owners pay her well). Nothing is too much trouble for her and she always has a smile on her face. She works very hard to keep everything spick and span. Ray keeps the grounds and pool looking immaculate. Our only complaint was that the pool was far too cold - it certainly needs some solar heating installling.
We had a fabulous stay and would certainly stay again should we come back to Playa Blanca.

Great location in centre of Playa, fabulous and panoramic sea views, yet amazingly peaceful.
Stylish colonial-style building, spotlessly clean and well maintained by wonderful staff. New pool, several shaded sitting areas, all with fine views and attractive planting, and each room has a sea-facing terrace with comfy sunbeds ( not always easy to lie down in shade though). Rooms are a pleasant change from the standard modern hotel - traditional furnishings and comfy beds and high quality linens. Bathroom small but perfectly formed. Plenty of wardrobe space.
A cross between an exquisite boutique hotel and a five star b and b - honesty bar, no 24 hour reception, serve yourself breakfast etc - but no less pleasing for that.
I enjoyed the breakfasts, though I'd guess the eggs and excellent bacon might be a little cool if you like a lie in.
Slight downside was the fresh coffee - a slow queue for the single nespresso machine or a thermal jug of barely warm coffee. Room for improvement here.
The overall experience though is excellent, with a few minor flaws easily outweighed by a very special feel. A welcome change from bland hotels.
A gem, to be returned to.
I was genuinely sad to leave this place. Wished I were staying three weeks not three days. By contrast I am in a standard hotel now. Noise of other guests in the elevator, standard ikea style furniture. Casa del Embajador is a dream. There are very few places like it. It is as if you are staying in a friend’s house, one that has been in the family for decades. The art, the furniture, the plants, all real and lovingly cared for. Only twelve rooms and all face the sea. Sound of surf reaches embroidered sheets. The view is impossibly beautiful. Time stops. Deeply relaxing and nourishing. A discreet quietness everywhere all day long. Guests reading books not phones. Everyone cordial yet respectful of one another’s private relaxation. Lovely staff, kind, interested and helpful. Didn’t even show my passport until day 2. One of my top hotel discoveries in my life, probably THE top.
We have just spent 2 weeks at this lovely hotel of just 11 rooms. It's in a wonderful position above the promenade, with spectacular views across the sea to Fuenteventura. Everyone has their own sunbeds and recliners outside their room to benefit from the view.
Daisy, who basically runs the place along with her husband, cleaning rooms, making breakfast etc was wonderful. Her lovely, constantly smiling personality and helpfulness made our stay.
The very good breakfast is served in a pretty courtyard and the hotel is full of genuine character as it used to be the ambassador's residence. There's a large private carpark at the back.
We only booked this on the Monday before Xmas for a short 4 night break between Xmas and New Year. I feel incredibly lucky that there was availability. The translation is The Ambassador’s House, and that’s what it felt like. Only a dozen or so rooms, so didn’t feel busy. Daisy and her husband couldn’t do enough, we genuinely felt that it was their mission to make sure that everything about our stay was perfect…..and it was. For all us Brits………you get your own sunbed! Right outside your room! With a view of the sea! And pretty much get all the sun from dawn to dusk.
Plenty of breakfast options. The hot food was sometimes only warm when we had breakfast, but really not an issue for us. The bar operates on an honesty basis. Plenty of restaurants in Playa Blanca that will suit all tastes and budgets
I think some of the images are a little out of date, and outside areas in particular are far better now, than shown.
If we head back to Lanzarote in the future, this place will right at the top of the list
Thank you Daisy (and your husband of course)
What a charming place situated very conveniently in the centre of Playa Blanca.
So peaceful with wonderful views over the sea. Only 12 rooms with plenty of space in the public areas.
House keeping impeccable and rooms a good size all with sea views.
Breakfast buffet nicely served in a calming court yard.
Staff fantastic.
Hope to return.
Having visited Playa Blanca for many years we always wanted to see what was behind the Green Door along the prom.
Well - we did - and should have done years ago.
This little hotel is simply superb - so very well maintained and clean - service impeccable
We felt that we were staying in someone's luxury villa with servants
WE WILL BE BACK!
We loved everything about the hotel
Small and individual hotel. Felt like you were a guest in someone's home but left to your own devices.
So glad we found this small hotel. Quiet, tucked away, this is a little oasis of calm in what is a busy resort crammed with new large hotels. Liked everything about it from the infinity pool (slightly nippy), to the loungers outside the bedroom window. The staff are low key but helpful and my wife was presented with a bottle of cava on her birthday. Only two other guests during our stay. We will definitely come again.
A return visit after a number of years away. Since our last visit the pool has been installed and we were a bit concerned it might have changed the atmosphere. We need not have worried! The pool and other improvements to the terrace have been beautifully done and there is the same sense of seclusion and being in your own private hotel. Simple buffet breakfast, friendly staff who kept the hotel and our room immaculate but who were otherwise non-existant, beautiful views out to sea, minutes from the town but private and peaceful. Will not suit everyone - expensive rooms, (we were the only ones there for some of our stay) minimal service - but completely relaxing, we loved it!
My husband and I are now on our third stay in 3 months absolutely fantastic nothing ever experienced. So relaxed we feel we are home not pestered by staff breakfast self service drinks self service providing you write down as it’s a trust basis !! Why spoil it . We stay in suites value for money outstanding no where like it views to die for safety 100% leave doors open no need to be worried . Love it so much we are back in November!! Secret gem I’d like to keep to us but feel the need to share xxxxx

Best hotel ever 5 star plus. Only 12 rooms two of which huge suites . Bed and breakfast and self service bar with honesty box. Every drink imaginable. Few staff but just the right amount no stress everything from a holiday that is needed . Fantastic infinity pool with sea views. Code provided to allow only guest access . 100 % secure . Safe in room mini bar Tv . This is a hidden Gem . Highly recommend a stay. Location ideal in the centre of all the shops bars restaurants beach.
This is a very difficult review to write because, although we love Casa Del Embajador it is only right that we point out some of its shortcomings to potential visitors.
First the good bits. This was our second visit and the location cannot be bettered in Playa Blanca. Not only is it central to everything with easy walks to beach, town and the marina rubicon but it is incredibly private. It is hidden behind high stone walls just off the promenade and accessed by a mysterious door set in the wall without even a name to indicate what is behind it, It is very small with only ten or eleven rooms all of which look out onto a terrace and the sea. Each room has it's own pair of chairs and sunloungers immediately outside so there is no competing for best position with other guests. The terrace faces south and gets the sun all day long. There are a couple of lovely communal rooms at the end of the terrace where guests can relax and enjoy the views (using binoculars provided) and obtain drinks from the well stocked honesty bar.
Breakfast is served in a partially covered courtyard each morning and comprises a selection of meats, cheeses, fruit and eggs with bacon and local sausage too. The entire place is quiet, calm and serviced by only a couple of staff who are rarely seen. Fresh fruit is provided in all the rooms and corridors for guests to help themselves to.
There is a recently installed infinity pool at the end of the terrace with a couple of loungers and a (rather noisy) waterfall feature. This brings me to the more negative aspects of the place! Since the pool was installed the prices have risen and this highlights certain inadequacies. The rooms, though spotlessly clean are basic. There is no air conditioning, just a large ceiling fan. The bathrooms are relatively small and the decor is in need of an update. Our bath had several patches overpainted with enamel paint to hide damage and the wall tiles have obviously been there since the early 80's. Other reviewers have criticized the never changing breakfast menu although we were more concerned about the same music CD being played every morning giving the impression that we were in "Groundhog Day"!
There is no restaurant or bar and tea or coffee can only be made in the communal kitchen area and must be paid for via the honesty bar which seemed stingy given the prices being charged. Perhaps those prices explain why we were almost the only guests for most of the week we were there! Another couple left the day after we arrived and another arrived the day before we left but for the majority of our stay we were the only residents. This suited us perfectly and reinforced our absolute commitment to Casa del Embajador but we recognise that this may not appeal to everyone. If you value privacy and exclusivity and want a calming, discrete stay in the heart of Playa Blanca then this is for you.
We have stuck with our 5 star rating because what is on offer here is very special and shouldn't be diluted by a few niggles!
We have always wanted to stay at this hotel having been intrigued by its mysterious surroundings i.e. it cannot be seen in any great detail from public areas. We took the opportunity to do so on our most recent visit to Playa Blanca, staying for 3 nights at the end of our 14 night holiday.
Check in was smooth and handled by a very pleasant lady who gave us a short tour of the facilities. The tour revealed stunning and meticulously maintained buildings. The view from the frontage exceeded our expectations and this is the view experienced from all bedrooms.
They have recently installed an infinity pool which although unheated was a treat to use.
We stayed in room 11, it has a large very comfortable king size bed, TV, fridge, safe, ample wardrobe space and a good size well stocked bathroom.
There are bowls of fruit all through the hotel. The hotel was previously a Diplomats residence and this can be seen in the many public rooms which reflect the era of occupancy.
Reception is not always manned, however, there was always a member of staff present, although not intrusive. For us this actually made you feel that you were a house guest rather than a hotel guest.
Breakfast is self serve buffet style and the choice was excellent i.e. smoked salmon, eggs, meats and cheeses along with small dates, figs, nuts, fruits, pasteries, freshly squeezed orange juice etc. Drinks are served in vacuum flasks but they were hot and there is also the addition of a coffee maker which also provides boiling water if required.
There is a an honesty bar with a well stocked selection to suit all tastes.
As you are not able to see into the hotel from public areas, we were unsure as to what to expect, however, for us it was delightful, quaint, quiet and relaxing and was a memorable end to our holiday. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
horrible service, we had so many problems and we are still fighting about them. Except for breakfast impossible to find hotel staff for the rest od the day, cacarouches all around, I don't even know how they are still opened.
We chose this because it is small, well located and is quiet. All are true; its location is fabulous and it is very quiet. It is a old ambassador's residence with lovely views, beautiful artwork, bowls of fresh fruit and an old world charm.
But it is not a hotel it is a B & B and could be much better in what it offers. Reception is only open 10-1 generally so if you have a query or problem (one day our towels weren't replaced) there isn't anyone around to ask.I think the receptionist who was also charming is part of the family which owns it.
The room we had was fairly old fashioned and just about ok in terms of size but the bathroom is small.
The wifi is very patchy and when I raised this she argued that it was ok; well it was on/off all the time which is frustrating. It may not bother some but it did us.
There is an honesty bar but you are charged for tea and coffee which we though a bit rich.
Our main gripe was the monotony of the breakfast (served from 8.30-11.00). Lovely fresh orange juice, usual array of fruit and cold meats, cheese, some pastries, bread, and fried eggs (in a warmer). But it was exactly the same every day, and I mean exactly-for 10 days. The coffee is served in vacuum flasks as is the hot water for tea so if you came in at 9.30 both were luke warm; unacceptable in our view.
I can't but help compare it to a 5* B & B I have stayed in in South Africa before (yes I know labour costs are lower). There the breakfasts were amazing-fresh baked breads/pastries every day; huge bowl of fruit salad, different cheeses and cold meats, and marmalades/jams every day and any eggs etc cooked to order. Coffee/tea from a modern high quality machine with cookies and rusks available 24 hours of the day. Chalk and cheese I'm afraid.
As we were settling up the day before our departure (the receptionist wouldn't have been there at our 9.30 am departure) I raised the issue of the breakfasts and she said she had raised it with the lady who prepares them (and cleans the rooms and public areas) and said she had tried to get her to change! I thought who is running this place.
Will we not return unless these little things change.
